The Convent of Christ (Portuguese: Convento de Cristo/Mosteiro de Cristo) is a former Roman Catholic convent/monastery in the civil parish of Tomar (São João Baptista) e Santa Maria dos Olivais, in the Centrol region municipality of Tomar. Originally a 12th-century Templar stronghold, when the order was dissolved in the 14th century the Portuguese branch was turned into the Knights of the Order of Christ, that later supported Portugal's maritime discoveries of the 15th century. The Convent and Castle complex is a historic and cultural monument which was listed in the list of UNESCO World Heritage list in 1983.
Well, mostly not! Just back from a few days in Wales doing a performance rock climbing course. It went well, I'm still alive 😁 On the last evening I managed to fit in a dash up Moel Eilio just before sunset. No idea how I made it up in time.
Not the best shot ever but how good does pointy Elidir Fawr look from this angle? Despite the Llanberis slate quarries taking a huge chunk out of the hillside.
A magical time with the clouds reflecting off the pool. a blue filter to change the mood of the sunset.
There are many reasons to go to the rural parts of Britain for a holiday, but beauty, peace and wonderful days out might be the most important.
I have far too many photos from our UK holiday in 2018, so I thought I would do what we all fear most of all, make a lovely collection of my holidaysnaps to show you.
But it was too many, so this is just a few glimpses to things we did in Lake District that I haven't alreaddy posted.
The main photo is from Eskdale. Eskdale is a glacial valley and civil parish in the western Lake District National Park, west of the Hardknott Pass. We are heading for the tiny village of Boot.
There are more photos in the first comment.
This was our campsite. That tiny dot is me, on the bedrock, basking in the rays of the setting sun. Richard hiked to the other side of the lake just to take this shot. Awww.
Spotted in a the garden of a house overlooking the beautiful Mother Booby's bay beach at Constantine Bay Cornwall... I am a little (err very actually )
shortsighted and thought the bloke in the garden (out of shot ) was happily watching my dog Merry play with his Cocker Spaniel.. The dog was actually a Merry look a like lol and my little Merry close by my feet. Jonathan said he was so surprised that I ignored the guy who was staring at me as I usually won't go within yards of a private property lol.....
Another iphone shot, could be shooting down all credibility of being an amatuer photographer but it would have been rude not to use Jonathans present to me..apologies to the house owner if you look at Flickr :))
....of one of the best holidays I have ever spent! Now hanging on the hall wall, where I can be reminded every single day!
For Smile on Saturday, "Full of Memories"
A holiday snap taken with my panasonic TZ60 compact of the quay side in Procide. This is the one view I wished I had been carrying my fujifilm xt2 with me rather than it been stuck in a hotel room back in Ischia, doh.
Its not often I post photos of me but here I am sitting on some of the blocks of basalt on the Giant's Causeway. I wanted some proof I was there! I think my son took the photo on my camera but I'm not certain.
Taken in Rome, Italy
If I'm honest, I was disappointed inside (I thought more could have been done to show how it would have been) but from the outside, awe inspiring
We went over to Melbourne to see our daughter. And also to see art galleries and anything else that was interesting. I spotted this painting by L. S. Lowery, he was a painter of the industrial landscape of Northern England. He obviously had feelings for his subject matter and he documented the minor foibles and tragedies of life, as here in "man falling ill". I sometimes think I would like to do photographs like that. I just took a little point and shoot camera with me, so excuse me if I show a few holiday snaps over the next few days. to see a small picture larger then View On White

For ODC - the next level! Many of you will know that wide-angle and landscape shots are not really my thing, but I wanted to try and capture some of the beauty of Iceland so left my macro lens at home :o( and took my 17-55, I still find the 10-24 a step too far but using the 17-55 is gradually getting me going wider! The purists may say the composition is all wrong - but lol I kind of like this one even if it is a holiday snap :o)
The last picture I took on my holiday to the Knoydart peninsula. Big thanks to David for the tip to head for the eastern shores of Loch Lomond, where this little fella lives. It took me a long time to drive home from Mallaig and this was a bit of a detour (I'd already taken piccies of this on my way up to Knoydart the previous week) but I was hoping I'd get here at the right time for a nice evening sky for a background.
It was a pleasure to be here on a beautiful evening and I was very happy with my last holiday snap :-D
