The FC Holden was a second generation Australian car designed completely in this country, but taking its cue from the 1955 Chevrolet. It was released in 1958 and production continued until 1960. It was striking in its two tone colour and sleek looks for its time.

I have been playing around with stitching panoramas.
These are the buses used to transport guests from Lake Chelan to Holden Village.

This is a closer view of those far-shore reflections, with a cloud shadow in a dramatic place.
Bonanza Peak, just out of view on the left, is 9,511 ft, but does not look 4,000 ft higher than the lake [which is at 5300 ft]. Standing at the foot of a mountain like this, the sense of distance is all off.

These are blooming nicely now but the poor leaves really did get burned last year in that hot spell we had.. I was able to repair some but not all...
The snow was deeper when the party arrived at the lake, but it was a powdery snow - and it made for some wonderful shots.
Holden Panel Van - purposeful tradesman's vehicle but also popular as a recreational vehicle - especially with surfers. You can sleep in them, change in them etc as you take off for the waves out of town. They were also very good at the Drive-in Theatre. You could back them up to the screen and open the back doors and lie down while watching the screen (or whatever else happens to be the right thing to do)

Breezing by at 55mph, engineer Ellis Lister effortlessly brings an empty West Labadie coal bucket through the sleepy village of Holden. They took little to no time to get back up to speed after coming out of the hole in Centerview; In a last-minute decision, they had to cool their jets due to Amtrak's westbound 319 approaching two of its station stops in Sedalia and Warrensburg. Although I'm sure they could have easily made it to Lee's Summit with Mr. Lister at the throttle, the dispatcher thought otherwise. This caused the train to arrive at this location 15 minutes before sunset.
The FX was the first Holden car produced in Australia. It rolled off the production line 75 years ago.
Nostalgia abounds when I see a car like this on the track. I learned to drive in an FJ Holden Ute which was 1953 but the same shape.
Branding and grille on the front of an ancient 1952 FX Holden.
On display at the Queensland Museum, this was an actual car owned by local legend George Kiprios who regularly drove around the streets of Brisbane with radio blaring with rock-and-roll music. The 1952 FX Holden was the first truly Australian car manufactured in Australia for Australian conditions. Over time it was the most famous Holden in Brisbane, loved for its steady presence and George's idiosyncratic customisation.

I have two of these in the backyard but unfortunately they get too much sun and the leaves get really burned but I still love the flowers...
My new baby!!! I couldn’t help myself but I just had to put the 20″ rims on it. Now I just gota lower it!
I’m such a wog!!! My Pa would be proud!
A re-spot, I originally took this in Feb 2015 and thought it deserved a re-take as my originals weren't the greatest.
This is indeed a first-year Holden and would be succeeded by many different Holdens, culminating with a VF Commodore (which I was wish was parked in front, so it would be a good comparison).
I nearly forgot these had a centrally-mounted taillight. A bit of a shame about the dent on the rear fender, was very nice otherwise!
The photos aren't the greatest but I only had a phone camera on me.
Now sporting a permit from around my area.

1680mm @ ƒ/11, hand-held, and manual focus is real tough (ignore the EXIF, it's incorrect due to the addition of an extension tube between the extenders).
One of my favorite things to do when photographing on the beach is to shoot with a long lens. They let you crop into a scene and make an explosion of color happen. To make this I stacked 2 extenders to make a whopping 1680mm f/11 lens, which could only be manual focused, and I shot it hand held.....which is insanely difficult. I don’t know the exact distance of the fisherman from where I was, but I’m estimating it to be no less than a mile away.
