The Yamaha BB-1200 (Broad Bass) is a legendary electric bass that Paul McCartney used extensively in the studio and live from the late 1970s onwards. Alongside his Höfner and Rickenbacker basses, it served as his primary instrument during the later phase of his band Wings and on his solo albums.
This is the same kind of bass that Paul McCartney used in the Beatles.
Being played here by the bassist from the Shuffle Demons.
This is just one single shot (No focus stacking). The depth of field was about 10 cm so I put the focus on the g string just at the bridge. To reduce the reflections on the surface of the instrument I used a Nikon circular polarizing filter
An old Hofner Senator archtop guitar with wonderful patina and age which is waiting for some restoration and my attention. A spring project in the offing.

Really it's just another Beatle tribute.
My cat Guapo chewed the end of Paul's Hofner Bass Guitar neck, the headstock of George's Guitar and one of Ringo's drum sticks. Ooops. Thanks Guys for posing for me here. See my cat Guapo here: www.flickr.com/photos/mikeygottawa/400926090/

There is no denying the Beatles had a HUGE influence on modern music as we know it. I for one was inspired to pick up guitar because of them.
But an interesting note is that aside from Paul's Hofner bass, the rest of the instruments they played were all American made!
George's Gretsch guitars were made in New York. John's (and George's) Rickenbackers were made in California and Ringo's Ludwig drums were produced in Indiana... Ringo was so proud of his "Imported from America" drums that he had the Ludwig logo printed on the bass drum head (it didn't come from the factory that way) So there you have it. The British Invasion was played on American Instruments... Kinda cool huh? :)
The Beatles live at the Wimbledon Palais 14th December 1963. This was a show put on especially for the Southern Area Fan Club.

Yes, Sir Paul occasionally put down his Hofner 500/1 Violin Bass in favor of the Rickenbacker 4001S…
