From Hotaka and Ariake, we can get beautiful views of the peaks of the Northern Alps and traditional farming villages.

I've been visiting Hodaka and Ariake for ages and was delighted and grateful for my first Explorer in this region.

Thank you so much for "on Explore".

I made my "on Explore" album.

There were a lot of clouds and we couldn't see the morning glow, but the direction of Mt.Okuhotaka was shining beautifully at sunrise.

It was a slightly foggy night in Karasawa. There were about 500 tents that day. Perhaps there were fewer tents than expected because of the rain the day before.

Another photo from our Trifecta Swap with Toby Mason and Hodaka Yamamoto.

We used Kodak Elitechrome EBX film for this and shot with the LC-A+ camera.

Toby shot Brighton Beach in the UK, Hodaka shot some cosmos petals in Japan and I shot a dry tree in one of Nevada's deserts.

I really enjoyed this project with them and still excited about the outcome of our next rolls.

My second upload from the second "trifecta"/ triples swap I did with Toby Mason and Hodaka Yamamoto.

By using a splitzer to expose half of a frame, Toby (fotobes) shot a tunnel in London and Hodaka (hodachrome) shot a castle in Nagoya, Japan. Then I shot a full frame of my friend Noe in Joshua Tree NP.

We all used the LC-A+ camera and Lomo XPro Chrome 100 film.

in january 2014, i started working on a 3-way "trifecta" film-swap, across 3 continents alongside two of my favourite analogue photographers: graziella ines from the u.s. and hodachrome from japan.. since then, we have been sending 3 rolls of film around the globe, each shooting a layer on every frame.. the third and final of these rolls has now been finished, developed and processed..

for this image, graziella shot the upper half of the frame only, masking the lower with a "splitzer" (crazy eyeballs somewhere in vegas!!), hodaka shot the lower half of the frame only, masking the upper half with a "splitzer" (a small sunflower field in ena city, gifu), and finally i shot the full frame (one of the light tunnels near the imax cinema in waterloo, london).. i love how the 3 images combine with cities 5000 miles apart, and a tranquil field in japan - this roll of film has travelled over 11,000 miles in total!

Here is my first upload from the third roll of triples or trifecta swap as we call it, between me, and my friends Toby Mason and Hodaka Yamamoto.

For this, we used the great film Kodak EBX and had it cross processed. Two shots were done using a splitzer and the third was shot on the whole frame.

Hodaka took a photo of a cluster of amaryllis flowers in Gifu, Japan. I took a photo of the Paris Hotel (Eiffel Tower) in Las Vegas . Toby took a photo of the new train station at the Blackfriars in London.

This is the first image from a new project, with hodachrome (he is a genius with an LC-A so check him out!). This film swap was based around the "EBS" technique: we shot a roll of film on the "normal" side, and when finished the film was then reversed and rewound, so that the second exposure was shot on the reverse side. When shooting on the reverse side, the image is "redscaled" - all colours become shades of red. With this first roll, hodachrome shot on the normal side in Japan, here in the "Lucent Avenue", the underground passage of Nagoya Station, the theme of this zone is "sea", then I shot on the "redscale" side in Brighton (UK), with some teasels down at Shoreham-by-Sea Harbour.

And say "hello" on my fotobes facebook page too if you'd like!

Double exposure between UK and Japan. Shot Tower Brdge in London first and then shot sunflowers in Japan. WIth the splitzer. Explored, thanks!

This is the second image from a new project, with hodachrome (he is a genius with an LC-A so check him out!). This film swap was based around the "EBS" technique (exposed both sides): we shot a roll of film on the "normal" side, and when finished the film was then reversed and rewound, so that the second exposure was shot on the "wrong" side. When shooting on the reverse side, the image is "red-scaled" - all colours become shades of red. With this first roll, hodachrome shot Yokkaichi Industrial Complex in Mie, one of the biggest industrial area in Japan, then I shot on the "redscale" side in Brighton (UK), The Palace Pavilion. With this shot I like the clear mix of normal and red-scale colour. It's similar to one that Hodaka has already uploaded, but I really love them both!

from the start of this year, i have been planning a 3-way "trifecta" film-swap, across 3 continents with two top analogue photographers: hodachrome from japan and graziella ines from the u.s...

since then, we have been sending 3 rolls of film around the globe, and this is my third upload (more in comments below) from this very well-travelled roll of film.. hodaka shot a new tunnel near maruyama dam, gifu, and graziella's layer was shot on venice beach, and i shot some little yellow flowers on a hill in the south downs, near brighton.. i'm really happy with how clear and complementary the three layers are with this image..

A fourth image from the return EBS (expose both sides) project, with hodachrome. This film swap took the following process: I shot a roll of film on the "normal" side, rewound (leaving the end of the film still poking out of the magazine) and posted this to Hodaka in Japan, who then reversed and rewound the film, and shot the roll again so that the second exposure was shot on the "wrong" side. When shooting on the reverse side, the image is "red scaled" - all colours become shades of red, so the images are a combination of true and red scaled colours. With this one took a shot near Shoreham Harbour at dusk, around the "Hot Pipes" surf spot, with the camera leaning on the roof of my car to give off reflections, then hodachrome shot at Lake Shizenko in Nagano, which is noted for its eccentric scenery with withered and skeletal trees.. I like how the skeletal trees and reddish colour intersperse the rest of the image, with weird reflections.
