Garrett and Daniela came to visit and we made brunch! I wanted to try Hocus Pocus rolls, and they were wonderful. The cinnamon-sugar-coated marshmallow basically disappears and bakes into the crescent rolls creating this puffy, sweet cinnamon bread. Click the sketch for a how-to!
There was a short discussion of a few of our group doing all three of the sisters. Would have loved to see that.
On October 27, 2016 Rolling Roadshow celebrated Austin's parks and the season of witches with a special showing of Hocus Pocus benefiting Austin Parks Foundation!
Much more than the typical Movie in the Park, this event was a true Halloween Spelltacular featuring Westen Broghesi as DJ Skellyton. He hosted a Halloween dance party in the park filled with pre-movie activities like:
- Broom Races
- Photo Opps
- Food Trucks featuring spooky treats
- A Candy Corn Wading Pool by Big Top Candy Shop where guests actually lied down in 700 pounds of candy corn.
Before the movie we hosted a costume contest with special prizes for child and adult categories, and had a virgin light our black flame candle.

Being back in a high school with two little ones was definitely odd. And then seeing Qaia in a high school classroom and being so at ease made me question if this was really my child. I was always a nervous wreck inside walking through school hallways but Qaia made it seem like a runway.
All I can say is I am so grateful of my current confident mindset and it feels like a lifetime ago that I was nervous about the oddest of things. I have no reason to be insecure anymore and being in the high school setting today really helped me realize how far I've come over the years.
(Today we went to see my sister's winterguard performance, the theme was Hocus Pocus. It was freakin awesome! She isn't in high school still, that's just where they performed.)
