Taken with Kalimar Action Shot 16 in week 24 of my 52 film cameras in 52 weeks project:
52cameras.blogspot.com/ This camera takes 16 shots in 2 seconds and uses a double width 35mm frame, and was originally marketed to golfers so they could analyse their swing. It can also take the pictures one at a time, making it possible to create collaged images.
I revisited this idea for 11-11-11.

Full-circle panorama shot from the top of Washington Tower in the middle of Mount Auburn Cemetary, taken near the peak of the fall foliage colors.
There are two versions of this image: a uncut 360 degree view, and a version that has the same view split in half to fit better on your monitor. Both versions are composed from the same sequence of photos and arranged the same way, aside from the obvious split in the middle of the latter version.
The split version has notes highlighting some of the landmarks I was able to recognize; feel free to add more if you can.

Standing at the bow of the USS Cassin Young, the World War 2 destroyer that is berthed next to the USS Constitution ("Old Ironsides") at the Charlestown Navy Yard national park. Also see this and this for panoramas from the stern.
I didn't realize it at the time, but the modern vessel marked "50" and docked next to Constitution is an active navy ship that was visiting Boston for shore leave at the time. The montage of the Constitution's stern shows that this ship is called "Taylor", making it the USS Taylor (FFG-50), an Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigate.
Across the harbor to the top-right here, you can see the North End of Boston, with the downtown skyscrapers beyond. At the top-left you can make out some of Logan Airport in East Boston.
Nice detail: I like how this shows two versions of the guy in the brown jacket, first taking a photo at the top left, then just looking around at the bottom right. (Random thought: do one of these in a semi-crowded place like this and get multiple loops, so that the same people are shown several times doing different things.)

I took a series of these panoramas the same day:
* Tobin Bridge #1 (under the tollbooths)
* Tobin Bridge #2 (over Little Mystic Channel)
* USS Cassin Young #1 (split panorama)
* USS Cassin Young #2 (full panorama)
Plus, of course, the other photomontages I've been putting up over the last few months.
In 2009 I attempted to photograph myself every day, and after some serious data loss from one of my computers it became impossible to continue on with the project. So here it is, my commitment to a few sets of hungry eyes to make something wonderful each and every week. It is my goal to bring it harder than I ever did with my last project. Each week I promise you, I will make something.
So what are we looking at this week?
Well this is my lovely roommates Alisha and Jaron having paint night with Alex and Austin. With three air signs living at the house we have been known to get crafty.
Sixty images made in five minutes, and merged
Enjoy.
I encourage you to

Supposedly, Prospect Hill is the highest point in Somerville, but at the moment I can't find a source to back this up, or suggest some other location. In any case, looking as it does down over Union Square, it has good views of Somerville, Cambridge, and Boston, as this panorama tries to convey.
* At the top left, you see part of the Union Square neighborhood, with the downtown Boston skyscrapers in the distance beyond the houses & trees.
* On the middle horizon, you can see a view across Boston's Back Bay (the John Hancock & Prudential Towers are easy to spot), sweeping across to the Kenmore Square & Longwood sections of Boston, with Cambridge's Kendall & Central Squares in the closer distance.
* On the bottom section, we're looking across Somerville to Cambridge (you can make out the Sanders Theatre at Harvard Square at the right corner horizon), with Boston's Allston-Brighton neighborhoods on the horizon.
The tower atop the hill commemorates the point where some of the first American colonialists fought against the British in 1775. Local legend holds that this point was the first place in America to fly a version of the American Flag (note the flag at top here, with the British Union Jack in place of the later field of stars), but then, a lot of places have a version of that local legend, so who knows?

Collage of two photos taken with the Trilogy 3D1000 camera which I previously used in week 34 of my 52 film cameras in 52 weeks project:
Trichrome photography involves taking three exposures of the same subject on black and white film. Each exposure is taken through a red, green or blue filter. These photos are then combined to produce a colour image. Three separate exposures could be taken with the same camera mounted on a tripod, though this would only be possible for static subjects, a purpose made camera with three lenses allows the 3 exposures to be made simultaneously.
One of the early users of the process, over a hundred years ago, was Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky , he used projectors with coloured filters to make a combined image, nowadays it can be done with photo editing software such as Photoshop.
For these trichromes, I used a three lens “Trilogy” camera, originally marketed for making lenticular stereo prints. I taped red, green and blue filters in front of the lens, and shot on Ilford HP5+ black and white negative film. The Trilogy camera is very simple, with fixed focus, aperture and shutter speed, it is only suitable for use in bright daylight, particularly as the filters reduce the effective aperture by at least 2 stops.
A composite image made up from photos taken from the same spot, each using a different film camera. The individual photos have been collaged in photoshop.
In this case the cameras were: Pentax Espio 160 (two photos) and Lomo LC-W (two photos using Lomochrome Purple film)

Not sure why I am posting this failed experiment. The subject was a tall fallen tree, and the idea was to photograph its length, but slightly rotate each shot when I put them together, possibly forming a circle or spiral. The problem was that I could not photograph the top of the tree the same way as the trunk, and I couldn't put the shots together. So it just ends abruptly (top right). However, the pattern is a bit interesting, mainly in that it resembles a plant.
At this scale, it's not possible to make out my shoes, which were in almost every shot. I was walking on the trunk, taking a shot with every step. This panography was made from about 70 shots (I had shot about 170).

Snaking from lower left across to the back right is the Seine. Across it near the upper left is the Arc de Triomphe, and the bright road coming across from it is the Champs Elysses. The bright dome over on the right is the Invalides, and beyond it you can just barely make out the area of the Louvre and Notre Dame. The blue beam at the upper right corner is a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower's lighthouse beacon arcing across the horizon.
Fenway Park has had various configurations for the section high above home plate.
When the section was built in 1988, it was the 600 Club, named for the 600 seats enclosed behind the glass. As of the 2002 season, it was renamed the .406 Club in honor of Ted Williams and his 1941 batting average. That's the name the section had when Kaite & I got to attend a game in May, 2005. Later, the section was remodeled, the glass wall was removed, and it was renamed after local companies EMC and State Street Bank.
Anyway, as for this game, it was the Red Sox against the Baltimore Orioles, who were in first place at the time, and won 8-1 that night. The Orioles ended up finishing 4th in the American League East with a record of 74 wins and 88 losses, while the Red Sox, who had won their first World Series in 86 years the year before, ended up (per Wikipedia):
The Boston Red Sox' 2005 season included the Boston Red Sox attempting to win the American League East in the American League. The Red Sox finished 95-67 and with the same record as the New York Yankees, but although the Yankees had won more previous games, they won the American League East and the Red Sox had to settle for the American League Wild Card.
Modica Way in Central Square, Cambridge is a narrow, short alley with public art on both sides:
• north: public side for graffiti
• south: official side, without graffiti
The graffiti on the northern wall is ever-changing, and very popular with photographers.
In contrast, the southern wall is graffiti-free, with a long mural consisting of stitched photo collages of the neighborhood, similar to the ones I make, or indeed the same as these mosaics themselves.

Views out the north, south, east, and west windows at the top of the Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown, Boston, MA.
Here we look roughly northwest over Charlestown, the elevated slash of I-93 across the scene, and beyond that Somerville, Cambridge, and beyond. I think the hills in the distance are in Arlington, as you can get a glimpse of the spot where Rt 2 comes down over the ridge coming into Cambridge. Anyway, to the back right here is a glimpse of the Mystic River, seen more clearly in the North view.
...rather than go look for my friend, who'd just run 13 miles, i stood and watched the Red Arrows do their thing.
Gave me goosbumps.

Got last minute tickets to the Celtics / Heat playoff game, so took The Boy to his first basketball game -- and by the third quarter, he already understood the sport better than his Dad. Good for him.
The Celtics ended up winning, 106-77, putting them up 2-0 in their series against Miami. Good for them, too :-)

Four frames from a set taken with the "Kalimar Action Shot 16" which I previously used in week 24 of my 52 film cameras in 52 weeks project:
52cameras.blogspot.com/ This camera takes 16 shots in 2 seconds and uses a double width 35mm frame, and was originally marketed to golfers so they could analyse their swing. It can also take the pictures one at a time, making it possible to create collaged images.
Agfa Vista ISO400 film developed in the Tetenal C41 kit.
