Back in the days of radio, "He shoots. He scores!" was the famous call that we'd often hear on Hockey Night in Canada.
JJ has been yearning to score a goal, and yesterday in a three-game tournament, he did score his first one. In fact, he scored two goals.
Unfortunately, nobody in the family witnessed the first one. Grandparents are permitted to miss 8:30 games, and Mom was briefly called away, so she missed it too.
Bummer!
But lo and behold, he did it again in the second game. I was ensconced in my seat near centre ice, when he took the puck and skated all of the way in to score.
I followed the play as best as I could with the camera and was able to catch him just before he released the shot and an obstacle got in my way.
The shot is highly cropped, but it's a keeper.

In just my second NHL game, I got to see a decent 'Hockey Fight' for the first time live. Paul Gaustad (#28) for the Nashville Predators and Vernon Fiddler (#38) for the Dallas Stars decided to go at it immediately after a face-off between the two. Gaustad clearly got the best of Fiddler overall and both received 5:00 minutes in the penalty box for fighting. At the end of the night, the Predators won the game 4 - 1...Go Preds!!
