Bird# 32
Migratory bird# 01
Bird Description: flic.kr/p/2df6dxW
Portrait of a male grey bushchat perched on top of a bush. Funny how the leaves are poking into his feathers.
This alpine accentor gave is very good opportunity to shoot him in different poses while perched quite close by. Light direction was not the best, but not bad either.

This female of the slaty blue flycatcher was perched inside a clutter of bushes. She allowed us to get extremely close, but it was almost impossible to get a clean shot through that clutter.
A shot of the ashy wood pigeon in the Himalayas. We were lucky to spot this rare beauty on the last day of our trip.
A fairly close shot of a black throated bushtit. It is so active, I was lucky to get him in a favourable position.
Another portrait of the plumbeous water redstart male. This time he perched in a better place with regards to light.
A grey bushchat male. He perched very close to me with a nice clean background, but the way morning light was falling on him, it was a nightmare for exposure. I exposed for the highlights and shadows were extremely dark. However, thanks to the excellent dynamic range of my D500 I was able to bring it to an acceptable state.
A male rufous bellied woodpecker. While the female is a bit plain looking, the male has a bright red head and from behind, it looks as if a tomato is placed on the torso. They are also the only sap sucking woodpeckers found in Indian subcontinent.
A collared owlet in it's habitat. This is the smallest bird from the owl family in the Indian subcontinent, and to save itself from predators, it has eye like design of feathers on the back of it's head.
From any side you look at it, it feels like it is looking at you.
Speckled piculet, a tiny bird from woodpecker family. In India, it is seen only in the Himalayas, so it was good to spot it and also get a decent photo during my trip in April.
I did like the way those branches and twigs framed the bird.

The black francolin in it's habitat. We spotted this species on the very first day, but though the others could get a glimpse, all I could get was it's calls.
So I was very happy to see this again on the very last day, this time quite in open. Of course, taking a photo was another matter, and could manage only this frame before he scurried up behind some bushes.

The morning i clicked this Snow Partridge, i had woken up at 4, trekked 5 kilometers in pitch dark on a path that was laden with snow. The sun had not risen yet and temperature at this altitude (3500 Meters+ ) was at least 15 to 20 degrees below zero. I remember while i was clicking this snow partridge, my fingers and toes were numb with pain and the only thing i could imagine about was, how warm the sun might be, if only the rays would fall on me.
