I found a scan of this Brochure from the 2009 Florida East Coast Railway Society (FECRS) Convention in Jacksonville, Florida on an old DVD that I created (at work) before I retired in 2011. It advertises a Show that was presented at the San Mateo theater in St. Augustine. Unfortunately, it doesn't specify a Date (Month or Year) other than Friday & Saturday from 7:00 to 9:pm. Actor/Impersonator, Paul Jellinek, played Henry M. Flagler (founder of the Florida East Coast Railway) at the San Marco Theater in Saint Augustine.

Henry M. Flagler was a Partner and Co-Founder with John D. Rockefeller of the Standard Oil Company during the days of the Robber Barron's of the Industrialization Period in the United States. Flagler later left Standard Oil and moved to Florida to create create a great Hotel and Railroad Empire.

Flagler bought several small pioneer Railroads in Florida, connecting them together and negotiated large Land Grants to build the remaining way to the Future City if Miami. He later extended his Railroad Empire to Key West (but that's a whole other story).

On Friday Night September 25, 2009, after we returned to the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in South Jacksonville from our Friday Bus Trip to watch CSX Trains at the Folkston Funnel in Folkston Georgia, the FECRS Members were treated to a performance by Actor/Impersonator Paul Jellinek. He played the Role of Henry Flagler at our Convention Hotel. Apparently Paul Jellinek had some Brochures left over from his Performance at the San Marco Theater., so he passed them out to the FECRS Members after his Play.

The FECRS Convention Hotel borders the St. Johns River (Riverfront) near the Florida East Coast Railway's Through Truss Strauss Trunnion Bascule Lift Bridge over River in Jacksonville. For further information about the FEC Strauss Trunnion Bascule Bridge, See:

Cardboard Boxes

"Cardboard" is a term we often use for many types of boxes and containers, but it isn't used in the paper industry, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Corrugated boxes constituted the largest single component of municipal solid waste in 2009 -- 11.2 percent -- as well as the largest category of of materials Americans recovered 81.3 percent of corrugated boxes for recycling. Recyclers separate corrugated boxes from other paper because paper mills produce different grades of material, depending on what is being recovered.

Fluorescent Lights

The recycling of fluorescent lights and high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps is a proven technology capable of reliably recovering greater than 99% of the mercury in the spent lights. Recovery begins by separating the components by a method such as the crush-and-sieve method. In this process, the spent tubes are first crushed and then sieved to separate the large particles from the mercury-containing phosphor powder. The phosphor powder is collected and processed under intense heat and pressure. The mercury is volatilized and then distilled to the required purity. The glass particles are segregated and recycled into fiberglass. Aluminum components are also segregated and recycled separately.

All appliances or “white goods” (clothes washers/dryers, refrigerators, ovens, water heaters, air conditioners, etc) become valuable sources of scrap metal when they are no longer wanted. However, some components in appliances contain hazardous materials that can damage human health and the environment if they are not removed and properly managed. Hazardous components may include: encapsulated polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs); Freon, Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), hydro-chlorofluorocarbons (HCFC) and other refrigerants; mercury in switches and temperature control devices; Di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) in metal-encased capacitors; used oil from compressors and transmissions; and any other material that is a regulated hazardous waste. Please dispose of these items properly.
