Over 40 Hillhouse residents took part in a local clean-up in the Udston and Glenlee Woods as part of the Keep Scotland Beautiful ‘Clean Up Scotland’ campaign.

Organised by local volunteers, supported by Friends of Udston and Glenlee Woods and Community Links (South Lanarkshire), people of all ages from the local community collected over 50 bags of rubbish. The aim of the clean-up was to encourage local people to bin their rubbish and make ‘The Woods’ - and its popular Nature Trail used by all - a safe place.

Younger children didn’t miss out on the action as some took part in a fun-filled Easter Egg Hunt with prizes being awarded to those who collected the most eggs. Everyone was then provided with a free hot drink and snacks at the Hillstop Café – which runs in the Hillhouse & Earnock Community Centre every Thursday between 10am-3pm – as a ‘thank you’ for taking part.
