Common Blue on his sleeping place on a hill in the southern Eifel during the sunset. The sun went down in clouds of mist and was therefore not outshone. Using a reflector I brought the light to the dark side of the butterfly.
Bläuling an seinem Schlafplatz auf einer Anhöhe in der Südeifel während des Sonnenuntergangs. Die Sonne ging im Wolkenschleier unter und war deshalb nicht überstrahlt. Mit Hilfe eines Reflektors habe ich das Licht auf die Schattenseite des Schmetterlings gebracht.

Etwa zwanzig mittelalterliche Fachwerkhäuser in der Weißgerbergasse haben die schweren Luftangriffe auf Nürnberg überstanden. Die Weißgerbergasse spiegelt daher ein Stück des historischen Nürnbergs, insbesondere eines alten Handwerkerviertels innerhalb des Burgviertels, wider. Der Name der Gasse kommt von den Weißgerbern, die im Mittelalter dort ansässig waren und im Gegensatz zu den Rotgerbern mit Hilfe von Alaun, Kochsalz, Mehl, Eiern und Baumöl rohe Tierhäute zu feinem, hellen Leder, dem sogenannten Weißleder, verarbeiteten. Da das Gerben der Tierhäute damals sehr viel Wasser beanspruchte und zudem eine nicht unerhebliche Geruchsbelästigung darstellte, kommt es nicht von ungefähr, dass die Handwerkshäuser fast alle über einen privaten Brunnen verfügten und am Ortsausgang in der Nähe der abfließenden Pegnitz angesiedelt waren.
About twenty medieval half-timbered houses on Weißgerbergasse survived the heavy air raids on Nuremberg. The Weißgerbergasse therefore reflects a piece of historic Nuremberg, in particular an old craftsmen's quarter within the castle district. The name of the alley comes from the white tanners who lived there in the Middle Ages and, in contrast to the red tanners, processed raw animal skins into fine, light-colored leather, the so-called white leather, with the help of alum, common salt, flour, eggs and tree oil. Since the tanning of animal skins used up a lot of water at the time and also caused a not inconsiderable odor nuisance, it is no coincidence that the craft houses almost all had a private well and were located on the outskirts of the town near the outflow of the Pegnitz.

After two weeks of recovering from a painful inflammation in my upper arm, I drove to Ahrensfelder Damm near Osterholz-Scharmbeck, Lower-Saxony in the north of Germany. The tracks of the local touristattraction Moorexpress are one of my favorite motifs and this time I managed to get a beautiful sun star almost above the the middle of the tracks.
This is a DRI version consisting of two exposures, that I combined using Darktable and GIMP.

Nachdem ich mich zwei Wochen lang von einer schmerzhaften Entzündung im Oberarm erholt hatte, zog es mich zum Ahrensfelder Damm bei Osterholz-Scharmbeck. Die Gleise des Moorexpress zählen zu meinen Lieblingsmotiven und dieses Mal gelang mir ein schöner Sonnenstern, nahezu mittig über den Schienen.
Dies ist eine DRI Version bestehend aus zwei Belichtungszeiten, die ich mit Hilfe von Darktable und GIMP kombiniert habe.

Im Laufe der Jahre haben sich in zwei Behältnissen viele Knöpfe angesammelt. Fein geordnet liegen sie nach Farben und Zusammengehörigkeit in kleinen Fächern. Für das heutige Thema habe ich mich für diesen Perlmuttknopf entschieden.
Auf der flachen Seite einer Glaspyramide fand der Knopf, mit Hilfe eines kleinen Knetgummis, seine Position. Für den Hintergrund habe ich eine DIN A 4 große Platte Glitzergummi aufgestellt.

Over the years, many buttons have accumulated in two containers. They are neatly arranged in small compartments according to colour and affiliation. For today's theme, I chose this mother-of-pearl button.
On the flat side of a glass pyramid, the button found its position with the help of a small kneaded rubber. For the background I placed a DIN A 4 sized plate of glitter rubber.

Au fil des ans, de nombreux boutons se sont accumulés dans deux conteneurs. Finement disposés, ils reposent dans de petits compartiments selon leur couleur et leur appartenance. Pour le thème d'aujourd'hui, j'ai choisi ce bouton en nacre.
Sur la face plate d'une pyramide en verre, le bouton a trouvé sa position, avec l'aide d'un petit caoutchouc malaxé. Pour le fond, j'ai utilisé une plaque de caoutchouc pailleté de taille DIN A 4.

Das Meersalz von Trapani/Sizilien wird durch natürliche Verdunstung hergestellt. Das Meerwasser wird in flache Becken eingeleitet, wo es verdunstet und das Salz am Boden zurücklässt. Sowohl der Transport des Meerwassers von einem Becken zum anderen als auch das Mahlen des Salzes selbst erfolgten mit Hilfe von Windmühlen, von denen einige heute renoviert sind.

The primary activity in the lagoons was the production of salt:
the method is fairly simple and consists of channelling sea water into small ponds, allowing it to evaporate under the sun and collecting the salt which is then left to dry in piles which are covered in terracotta tiles that take on the appearance of the roof of a house. The water was pumped using wind mills, some of which have been restored and remain visible today.
A group of beeches have settled in the middle of a spruce forest. They can hardly be seen all year round and disappear in the crowd, but now, in autumn, things suddenly look very different.
While the forest floor is covered with green moss everywhere, the fallen leaves of the beech trees have formed an orange-red carpet that can be seen from afar.
Those are the spots I look for as I roam the woods. Once I have found such a place, the search for the "right" perspective begins. It can happen that I just wander around in circles for 20 minutes without even taking the camera out of my backpack.
Sometimes I just move on (usually with some regret) because I just can't find a way to create a harmonious composition. Luckily that wasn't the case here. This young beech tree, which shines towards me here, was a great help.
In Mitten eines Fichtenwaldes haben hat sich eine Gruppe Buchen angesiedelt. Das ganze Jahr über sind sie kaum zu erkennen und verschwinden in der Menge doch nun, im Herbst, sieht das plötzlich ganz anders aus.
Während der Waldboden überall von grünem Moos bedeckt ist haben die herab gefallenenen Blätter der Buchen einen orange roten Teppich gebildet, der schon von Weitem zu sehen ist.
Das sind die Punkte nach denen ich Ausschau halte, wenn ich durch die Wälder streife. Hab ich dann einen solchen Ort gefunden geht die Suche nach der "richtigen" Perspektive los. Da kann es schonmal sein, dass ich 20 Minuten lang nur im Kreis herum wandere ohne auch nur die Kamera aus dem Rucksack zu nehmen.
Manchmal gehe ich danch einfach weiter (meist mit einigem Bedauern), weil ich einfach keine Möglichkeit finde eine harmonische Komposition zu kreieren. Hier war das zum Glück nicht so. Diese junge Buche, die mir hier entgegen leuchtet, war dabei eine große Hilfe.

Gesehen in Bremen an der Weser in Deutschland
Speckled bush cricket (a young larva) after a walk through the flower of a evening primrose. Then she cleaned the feelers of the pollen. These are pulled several times with the help of the forefoot through the "mouth".
Punktierte Zartschrecke (eine junge Larve) nach einer Wanderung durch die Blüte einer Nachtkerze. Danach hat sie die Fühler vom Blütenstaub gereinigt. Dabei werden diese mehrfach mit Hilfe der Vorderfüße durch den "Mund" gezogen.

Manchmal... wenn der Schlaf einen großen Bogen um mich macht, ist ein kleines LED Buch meine Rettung. Mit Hilfe des kleinen Lichtes, 8 x 12 cm oder 3,14 x 4,72 inch, kann ich im Bett bequem in meinem lesen, ohne meinen Mann zu stören. Bei Bedarf kann ich es laden, somit ist es fast klimaneutral.

Sometimes... when sleep gives me a wide berth, a small LED book is my salvation. With the help of the small light, 8 x 12 cm or 3.14 x 4.72 inch, I can read comfortably in my bed without disturbing my husband. If necessary I can charge it, so it is almost climate neutral.

May I introduce You the dog of hell ? When You look closely at the separate standing rock on the right side, You will know where that name is coming from. It looks like a giant sitting dog looking right into the camera. The rock is about 80 meters high. Very impressive what nature can create, in my opinion. This is, by the way, my absolut favorite selfie. (With a little bit help for releasing the camera)
Darf ich Euch vorstellen, der Höllenhund. Wenn Ihr Euch den einzelnen Felsen auf der rechten Seite genau anseht, erkennt Ihr warum er diesen Namen trägt. Er sieht aus wie ein riesiger sitzender Hund, der genau in die Richtung der Kamera blickt. Er ist stolze 80 Meter hoch. Sehr eindrucksvoll, finde ich. Das ist übrigens mein abolutes Lieblings-Selfie. (Mit ein klein wenig Hilfe beim Auslösen der Kamera)

Das Esparsetten-Widderchen oder Krainer Widderchen (Zygaena carniolica) ist ein Schmetterling (Nachtfalter) aus der Familie der Widderchen (Zygaenidae). Sowohl die Raupen als auch die erwachsenen Tiere sind giftig und dokumentieren dies für Fressfeinde mit Hilfe ihrer auffälligen Warnfärbung. Die Art wurde in Deutschland und Österreich zum „Insekt des Jahres 2008“ gewählt.
Merkmale
Das Esparsetten-Widderchen ist wegen seiner charakteristischen Zeichnung auf den Vorderflügeln – die roten Flecken auf schwarzem Grund sind hell umrandet – in Mitteleuropa meist recht eindeutig von anderen im Volksmund auch „Blutströpfchen“ genannten Widderchen-Arten zu unterscheiden. Die helle Umrandung kann jedoch manchmal schwach ausfallen oder ganz fehlen und die Farbintensität der roten Flecken kann variieren.

This species can be found in most of Europe, except Britain Isles and northern Scandinavia. It is also present from Western Asia to Iran.
Habitat
It inhabits warm and dry areas, grasslands and limestone substrate, steppe slopes and dry pastures.

Lateral view
The wingspan is 30–35 mm. Forewings are bluish-black with six red spots surrounded by yellow. Hindwings have a red color with a black border. The outer spots are often in the shape of a crescent. The abdomen is black-blue, sometimes with a red belt.[5] The caterpillar is light green with a series of triangular black spots on the sides of the body. Pupae are black-brown, with a white or yellowish ovoid cocoon.
This species is rather similar to Zygaena algira, Zygaena maroccana, Zygaena occitanica, Zygaena orana and Zygaena youngi.
Biology
It is an univoltine species. Adults are on wing from July to August. Adults feed on the nectar of flowers in the Fabaceae family.The larvae feed on Lotus, Anthyllis, Dorycnium and Onobrychis species.[7] They frequently rest large numbers on flowers. Pupation occurs in May–June. The caterpillars hibernate.

Dieser Anker wurde zum 100jährigen Vereinsjubiläum aufgestellt, Ein Greetsieler Krabbenfischer brachte am 28.10.2015 den ca. 100 Jahre alten Anker von einer Fangfahrt mit.

Eiderenten leben überwiegend von Muscheln bis zu einer Größe von 40 Millimetern, außerdem stehen Schnecken, Krebstierchen sowie – im Gegensatz zu anderen Entenarten – Fische auf ihrem Speiseplan.
Muscheln erbeutet die Eiderente, indem sie entweder den Wattboden absucht oder sie im Wasser ertaucht. Mit Hilfe ihres kräftigen Schnabels ist sie in der Lage, Muscheln von ihrer Unterlage abzureißen oder nach ihnen im Wattboden zu graben.
Die Muscheln werden mit den Schalen gefressen. In ihrem starken Kaumagen werden sie geknackt; die Schalentrümmer scheidet die Ente anschließend als Speiballen aus. Das mit der Nahrung aufgenommene Salz wird über Salzdrüsen in der Stirn wieder abgegeben.

The eider preys on mussels either by searching the mudflats or by diving into the water. With the help of its powerful bill, it is able to tear mussels off their base or dig for them in the mudflats.
The mussels are eaten with their shells. They are cracked in their strong gizzard; the duck then excretes the shell debris as spit balls. The salt taken in with the food is released again via salt glands in the forehead.

Das Esparsetten-Widderchen oder Krainer Widderchen (Zygaena carniolica) ist ein Schmetterling (Nachtfalter) aus der Familie der Widderchen (Zygaenidae). Sowohl die Raupen als auch die erwachsenen Tiere sind giftig und dokumentieren dies für Fressfeinde mit Hilfe ihrer auffälligen Warnfärbung. Die Art wurde in Deutschland und Österreich zum „Insekt des Jahres 2008“ gewählt.
Merkmale
Das Esparsetten-Widderchen ist wegen seiner charakteristischen Zeichnung auf den Vorderflügeln – die roten Flecken auf schwarzem Grund sind hell umrandet – in Mitteleuropa meist recht eindeutig von anderen im Volksmund auch „Blutströpfchen“ genannten Widderchen-Arten zu unterscheiden. Die helle Umrandung kann jedoch manchmal schwach ausfallen oder ganz fehlen und die Farbintensität der roten Flecken kann variieren.

The wingspan is 30–35 mm. Forewings are bluish-black with six red spots surrounded by yellow. Hindwings have a red color with a black border. The outer spots are often in the shape of a crescent. The abdomen is black-blue, sometimes with a red belt.[5] The caterpillar is light green with a series of triangular black spots on the sides of the body. Pupae are black-brown, with a white or yellowish ovoid cocoon.
This species is rather similar to Zygaena algira, Zygaena maroccana, Zygaena occitanica, Zygaena orana and Zygaena youngi.
Biology
It is an univoltine species. Adults are on wing from July to August. Adults feed on the nectar of flowers in the Fabaceae family.The larvae feed on Lotus, Anthyllis, Dorycnium and Onobrychis species.[7] They frequently rest large numbers on flowers. Pupation occurs in May–June. The caterpillars hibernate.

Liebe Freunde, ich wünsche Euch ein glückliches, erfolgreiches, heiteres und vor allem ein gesundes Neues Jahr. Hoffen wir, dass das Jahr uns wieder ein Stück Normalität zurück gibt.
Von Herzen möchte ich den Menschen danken die im Gesundheitswesen, in den Seniorenheimen, Schulen, Kindertagesstätten, der Feuerwehr, der Polize für uns arbeiten.
Mein Dank auch an die Wissenschaftler die sie so schnell einen wirksamen Impfstoff entwickeln konnten. Meine Familie und ich sind inzwischen alle geboostert und Grippe geimpft. Falls ein vierter Picks nötig ist dann nehme ich ihn gerne in Anspruch.
Nun zu dem heutigen Thema, ich wußte zum Beispiel nicht das unsere Eurobanknoten aus einer speziellen Baumwolle, d.h. ,sie bestehen aus einem Sicherheitspapier basierend auf Baumwolle. Dank Wikipedia kann ich mich immer informieren. Als Dank gibt es jährlich eine Spende.
So ist Flickr nicht nur ein Hobby, sondern auch eine Lernplattform.

Die Landung auf diesem unbekannten Planeten erwies sich als als Überraschung in zweierlei Hinsicht. Die Drachen begleiteten uns unverhofft freundlich durch den Wolkensee, der uns allerdings sehr kräftig durchschüttelte.
Die Star Flatz schien im Schwarzen Loch etwas beschädigt worden zu sein und so hoffen wir nun, hier Hilfe zu finden.

The landing on this unknown planet proved to be a surprise in two ways. The dragons unexpectedly accompanied us in a friendly way through the lake of clouds, which, however, shook us very hard.
The Star Flatz seemed to have been somewhat damaged in the black hole and so we now hope to find help here.
When I saw that willow tree, during an evening walk, I was captured right away. It lost, in the true sense of the word, the ground under it’s feet. The foundation, it’s existence was build on was lost, and it was falling. The old willow tree survived that stroke, what easily could have been it’s end. It did rescue itself and stable holding the crown above the water without the help of anybody.
It is easy to give up but there are enormous efforts needed to find back to life after such a stroke, but it is possible. When we meet people like that, seeing that they are leaning over, its not the time to feel sorry for what they have lost. Its the time to deeply admire them for what they could keep and regain themselfes.
Als ich bei einem abendlichen Spaziergang diese Weide gesehen habe, war ich sofort begeister. Es hat ihr im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes den Boden unter den Füßen weggezogen. Das Fundament, auf dem ihre Existenz aufgebaut war, war blötzlich nicht mehr da und sie viel. Die Weide hat diesen Schicksalsschlag überstanden, der auch ihr Ende hätte sein können. Sie hat sich selbst gerettet und hält die Krone, ohne fremde Hilfe, stabil über Wasser.
Es ist leicht aufzugeben doch es ist ein enormer Aufwand erforderlich, von einem solchen Schlag zurück ins Leben zu finden doch es ist möglich. Wenn wir solchen Menschen begegnen, und sehen, dass sie schief stehen, ist es nicht an uns Sie für das zu bedauern, was sie verloren haben sondern sie aus tiefstem Herzen zu bewundern für das, was sie sich bewahrt und zurück erkämpft haben.

To cover its nitrogen requirement of sundew catches insects with the help of adhesive hairs on the leaf surface. These are then dissolved by digestive enzymes and added the vacant nutrients through the leaf surface. The progressive decline of bogs and wetlands are both types in Baden-Württemberg on the Red List, the Langblättrige sundew is even listed as endangered.
Sonnentau wächst typischerweise auf nährstoffarmen, eher sauren und feuchten Böden. Außerdem benötigt er viel Sonne, deshalb sind Moore und Feuchtgebiete sein idealer Lebensraum. Zur Deckung seines Stickstoffbedarfes fängt der Sonnentau Insekten mit Hilfe von Klebehaaren auf der Blattoberfläche. Diese werden dann durch Verdauungsenzyme aufgelöst und die freigewordenen Nährstoffe über die Blattoberfläche aufgenommen. Durch den fortschreitenden Rückgang von Mooren und Feuchtgebieten stehen beide Arten in Baden-Württemberg auf der Roten Liste, der Langblättrige Sonnentau wird sogar als stark gefährdet aufgeführt.
In meinem Urlaub in Portugal konnte ich wirklich tolle Vögel sehe. Besonders beeindruckend fand ich natürlich die Flamingos, die zum Teil eine sehr schöne rosa Farbe hatten.
Die Rosafärbung des Gefieders ist auf die Aufnahme von Carotinoiden mit der Nahrung zurückzuführen. Diese sind vor allem in planktonischen Algen enthalten. Der Flamingo-Organismus kann diese Carotinoide mit Hilfe von Enzymen in der Leber umwandeln; dabei entstehen mehrere Pigmente, vor allem Canthaxanthin, das in Haut und Federn ausgewachsener Flamingos eingelagert wird. Jungvögel haben ein graues Gefieder mit keinen oder wenigen rosa Pigmenten.

During my holiday in Portugal, I was able to see some really great birds. Of course, I was particularly impressed by the flamingos, some of which had a very beautiful pink colour.
The pink colouring of the plumage is due to the intake of carotenoids with the food. These are mainly contained in planktonic algae. The flamingo organism can convert these carotenoids with the help of enzymes in the liver; this produces several pigments, especially canthaxanthin, which is stored in the skin and feathers of adult flamingos. Young birds have grey plumage with no or few pink pigments.

Ein Foto von der Oberseite der Flügel hatte ich ja schon vor ein paar Tagen hochgeladen. Als Laie fand ich es recht schwierig, den Schmetterling sicher zu bestimmen. Mit Hilfe der Unterseite der Flügel war ich mir dann aber ziemlich sicher, dass es sich bei diesem Perlmutfalter um einen Kaisermantel handelt. Falls es doch nicht stimmt bin ich wie immer für jeden Hinweis auf den Namen dankbar.
Um das Bild besonders detailreich sehen zu können, drückt die Tasten l (kleines L) und F11. Beim vergrößern nur durch Anklicken gehen viele Details verloren.
I uploaded a photo of the top of the wings a few days ago. As a layman, I found it quite difficult to identify the butterfly with certainty. With the help of the underside of the wings, I was pretty sure that this butterfly was a Silver-washed Fritillary. If it's not correct, I'd be grateful for any hint to the name as always.

It was pouring rain when I got to the forest, but I still stuck to my plan to follow the course of the stony creek Schönebecker Aue. My hope to find more beautiful spots that stand out as a good motif came true. Since it was still raining, I moved on, following the northern edge of the forest. I'll find my way back, I have a good sense of direction, I thought to myself. I turned right into a narrow deer crossing and from a distance I saw this fallen tree. I circled it several times in search of the perfect composition and then I found it: Standing in front of the crown, looking down the trunk towards the root. This time I opted for my 18-55 kit lens, there should be as little sky as possible in the picture in order to draw full attention to the forest and the main subject. The rain created a fantastic atmosphere, which I was able to reinforce later with a slight orton effect on the PC. I was very happy when I finished taking this photo. The rain subsided, the sun came out and I moved on towards the forest path. Once there, I quickly found the ditch that would later flow into the Schönebecker Aue creek, which I remembered from the winter before last. With his help I quickly got back on the forest path where his crossing is bordered by a beautiful palisade made of tree trunks. Firmly convinced to get back to the creek, if I follow the path to the left, it happened: I got lost.
I was not aware that this path was preceded by a t-junction and that it no longer ran to the west but instead to the south.
All I really had to do was follow the ditch and I would be back at the creek. Instead, after a while I found myself back in the center of the forest and realized that the way back to the creek and thus to my car would take a little longer that evening. Although the next day in the home office was exhausting due to my tiredness, it was worth it. This experience of being one with the forest, listening to the raindrops and the sounds of the nature is something very special, a different kind of meditation.
Es regnete in Strömen als ich im Wald ankam aber dennoch hielt ich an meinem Plan fest, dem Lauf der Schönebecker Aue zu folgen. Meine Hoffnung weitere schöne Stellen zu finden, die sich als gutes Motiv hervorheben, erfüllten sich. Da es aber noch immer in Strömen regnete, zog ich weiter, dem nördlichen Waldrand folgend. Ich werde den Weg zurück schon finden, ich habe ja einen guten Orientierungssinn, dachte ich mir. Ich bog nach rechts in einen schmalen Wildwechsel ein und schon von weitem viel mir dieser umgestürzte Baum auf. Ich umrundete ihn mehrmals auf der Suche nach der perfekten Komposition und dann fand ich sie: Vor der Krone stehend, den Blick den Stamm entlang Richtung Wurzel. Ich entschied mich dieses Mal für mein 18-55er Kit Objektiv, es sollte so wenig Himmel wie möglich mit aufs Bild um die Aufmerksamkeit voll und ganz auf den Wald und das Hauptmotiv zu lenken. Der Regen sorgte für eine fantastische Atmosphäre, die ich später am PC noch mit einem leichten Orton Effekt verstärken konnte. Ich freute mich sehr, als ich mit der Aufnahme fertig war. Der Regen ließ nach, die Sonne kam raus und ich zog weiter in Richtung Waldweg. Dort angekommen fand ich schnell den Bach, der später wieder in die Schönebecker Aue münden würde, den ich noch vom vorletzen Winter in Erinnerung hatte. Mit seiner Hilfe kam ich schnell wieder auf den Waldweg wo seine Querung durch eine schöne Palisade aus Baumstämmen eingefasst ist. Fest davon überzeugt zurück zur Aue zu gelangen, wenn ich dem Weg nach links folge, passierte es: Ich verlief mich.
Mir war nicht bewusst, dass diesem Weg eine T-Kreuzung vorangegangen war und somit nicht mehr nach Westen sondern stattdessen nun nach Süden verlief.
Ich hätte eigentlich nur dem Bach weiter folgen müssen, und ich wäre wieder an der Aue angelagt. Stattdessen fand ich mich nach einiger Zeit wieder im Zentrum des Waldes und mir wurde bewusst, dass der Weg zurück zur Aue und somit zu meinem Auto an diesem Abend noch etwas länger dauern würde. Obwohl der nächste Tag im Homeoffice auf Grund meiner Müdigkeit anstrengend wurde, hat es sich gelohnt. Dieses Erlebnis eins zu sein mit dem Wald, den Regentropfen und den Geräuschen der Natur zu lauschen ist etwas ganz Besonderes, eine andere Art der Meditation.

Ich bin nicht sehr erpicht darauf, die besonders ikonischen Sujets zu fotografieren. Gerade in der Landschaftsfotografie sollte man die Gelegenheit haben, immer wieder an denselben Ort gehen zu können, um den Moment zu erwischen, wo Licht und Sujet zusammenpassen.
Als Tourist mit beschränktem Zeitfenster muss man sich mit dem gerade dann Vorhandenen begnügen. Für dieses Bild des "meistfotografierten Bergs der Welt" (zermatt.ch) habe ich ein Pol- und ein Graufilter zu Hilfe genommen.
I'm not very keen on photographing the particularly iconic subjects. Especially in landscape photography you should have the opportunity to go to the same place over and over again to catch the moment when light and subject fit together.
As a tourist with a limited time window, you have to be content with what is available at the time. For this picture of the "most photographed mountain in the world" (zermatt.ch) I used a polarizing filter and a neutral density filter.
