So much hate going around. It has been depressing for me to check my facebook and the news, etc. I just wish people were more accepting, less ignorant, and that everyone would just give peace a chance! <3
I have a life,
And I’m respected everywhere I go.
Boys don’t bug me nor do they stare.
Because they have nothing to stare at,
But they are forced to look at me.
I am me,
And when I go out I’m covered in black.
Not a thing will show.
Not my hands not my hair.
But my thoughts, and my ideas will.
I've been to the Middle East. This is how Muslim women are really dressing these days, sans the nail polish (we've got spectactular eye liner to make up for it). The reason no nail polish: Muslims pray five times a day, and before prayer, hands must be washed with water (the nail polish is an enamel and doesn't allow water to permeate the nail). So, if we Islamic girls wanted to wear nail polish, we'd have to be always taking it on and off. (Not practical, but some ladies with maids manage it, and carry a bottle of remover with them every where. Not practical for the average sister sans a hand maid to dress us, brush our teeth, and do our nails five times a day. But sans the black Chanel polish, these girls dress like the majority do: notice the sunglasses are taking the place of the veil as a fashion, just as the veil replaced the birqa.
All are teachers of an Elementary School. I was on the balcony trying my 300mm Sigma lens and watched the teachers posing for her cell phone photographer colleagues! I also clicked!!

1st February is World hijab day
Wearing hijab for me belongs to the "my body my choice". It is for no one to decide when or where I wear hijab. There is no law that should determine if I can or can't wear it. Nor should there ever be laws that say I have to.
A lot of arguments have been made against WHD because it should promote the veiling of women. And it's been argued there should be a no hijab day, where hijabis would have to unveil to know what it's liked to be forced to something they don't want to. But I don't think even in 2021 any women in the west, east, north, south or even in space need reminding what oppression looks like, and what it is like to have others decide how we are to look, what we should wear. It is something that starts already in early teenage years. It's something that we are reminded about every day. Act like this, don't do that, why didn't you do so and so.
Recently a very dear friend of mine who I'd asked to take a look at this styling had asked me "isn't it at times uncomfortable, getting too hot". A very valid question, especially from someone who has never worn one.
The answer is in short "yes, it sometimes do". But why don't we ask the same question to women having to wear specific uniforms depending on their work ? "Isn't that tight/short skirt unpleasant to wear all day" "Don't your feet hurt after a day in heels and standing up"
