Dangerous Havant Pavement Footpath Cyclists.

This is one of the pavements in Havant which is shared by pedestrians and cyclists.

Sadly some of the cyclists are so thoughtless and inconsiderate, they do not give way at junctions and factory entrances. They simply cycle at speed straight across the junctions and entrances without stopping.

It has become such a frequent occurence, that the Council have had put up signs reminding the cyclists to give way to traffice at junctions.

Some cyclists seem to think pedestrians and traffic should stop for them so they can whizz across the junctions without stopping.

Cyclists do not always act in ways to advance their case of Road Safety and obeying the Highway Code and seem to think that cycling with due care and attention to pedestrians and other road users is beyond their understanding.

Just by the pedestrian crossing on Woodstock Road. This is the Lazy Bastard's Parking Space for the chemist -- there's another car in the LBPS for the newsagent a bit further up the road.

It seems that people don't read the Highway Code any more (it's illegal to park within 10m of a junction); even when councils mark "Keep Clear" lines, the zones are often flouted.

UPDATE

There are keep clear lines on the corners here now. Was this photo the reason? Who knows...

I did this for my son's 17th. He is now allowed to learn how to drive. Thought this might help with his theory!

On 1st July 2013 new legislation came into force requiring vehicles (i.e. by law) to travel in the leftmost lane possible on multi-lane carriageways, unless they are overtaking a vehicle in the lane immediately to the left. Failure to observe this rule is punishable by a fine and penalty points on the driver's licence.

There is ample room ahead of me for vehicles passing me to pull into lane 1 having done so, yet this driver decided to ignore the law and carry on in lane 2 regardless.

Where in London will you get double vision?

Not a sign found in the Highway Code ?

In addition to an earlier photo, another great example of the advanced stop line doubling as a parking space. This time for one of Brighton's obscurely named buses, who seems oblivious to the cyclist.

Of the three brake lights on this vehicle, two are mandatorily required and one is optional. Only one is working. Guess which one that is (mandatory vs optional).

Yup, you got it... it's the optional one!

So this vehicle is unroadworthy and not in a condition to be used legally on a public highway.

It is merely a matter of time until someone fails to realise that this vehicle is braking and runs into the back of it.

.

How many rules is this breaking?

I reckon that's at least three offences: parking on the pavement, parking on double yellow lines, parking in a cycle lane. Reported here: london.mybikelane.com/post/index/17984 and with Road Safe London.

"You MUST NOT park partially or wholly on the pavement in London"

"Double yellow lines indicate a prohibition of waiting at any time"

etc etc

Travelling in quite heavy traffic at 50mph (at least I was, unlike these as they passed me) through a section of roadworks, this BMW driver thinks it is safe to be driving less than one car length from the vehicle in front.

The Highway Code suggests a safe stopping distance at 50mph of 175ft (approx 55 metres).

.

Unbelievable. The SouthGate development continues apace, with road laws flouted and traffic held up aplenty.

You can learn what the yellow lines mean on the Highway Code website

Artist Alex Corina. This one highlights Nick Cleggs U-turn on student loans. Alex has redesigned the Highway Code. adapting familiar roadsigns creating new ones to highlight the impact of the Coalitions Austerity and their economic policies on the NHS and the Welfare state. This one.

When used properly, these markings help make cyclists safer. When they're not, they don't.
