The Highlight Towers are twin office towers located in the the Parkstadt Schwabing area of Munich. With a height of 126m resp. 113m they belong to the tallest buildings in Munich.
The towers are connected by two glass/steel bridges, a double bridge at the 9th/10th floor and a single bridge at the 20th floor. Design by Murphy/Jahn (Chicago, USA).

A few varieties of hybrid poppies have found their way into a field of Common Poppies.
There was a problem with Flickr Mobile App and this image and others kept appearing under someone else's name and the only way I could solve the issue was to remove it and post it again. I have reported it to the person involved who is a Admin of a well respected group and to the flickr team. I await their reply!
** Its rather sad to be posting the final shot from a trip but this is the last one from the road trip we took in 2016 . We drove from Santa Fe to New Orleans via parts of Texas . Certainly saw quite a range of different landscapes and cultures .
One of the highlights was spending time at Jefferson Island in Louisiana . Roseate Spoonbills are certainly the oddest birds I have ever seen and it was a good opportunity to see large group of them close up . I am in debt to two flickr contacts Cajun Snapper and Larry Daugherty who gave me hints and directions to a small pool on Jefferson Island.
Well that’s the end of travel shots from 2016 so will be posting stuff from 2017 soon. Its a good job I am so far behind given that this year does not look like it will be adding a great deal to my travel collection

A lovely sunrise this morning but unable to rush out due to cracked ribs after a heavy fall on the ice onto my back last Monday which has all but laid me up.
Nachdem es in der ersten Stunde meines Aufenthaltes in Gemünden eher zäh Richtung Norden lief wurde es danach deutlich besser.
Neben dem einen oder andere Schmackerl freue ich mich sehr über die Lohrer Übergabe die am 31.03.21 über 6 Stunden zu spät in den Spessart fuhr.

Ein absolutes Highlight konnte am 8. Februar bei Vierkirchen fotografiert werden: die halbseitig beige-blau beklebte 151 075-9 hatte einen schönen Güterzug (EZ 51732) von Nürnberg Rangierbahnhof nach München Nord am Haken.
On 8th February I had the opportunity to take this picture of 151 075-9 hauling a mixed freight train from Nuremberg to Munich.
Late afternoon at Hambersham is always a dramatic spot especially in Fall as late afternoon sun highlights the trees and exhaust of a southbound coal train trying to climb Duff Mountain.
Shooting with the Fuji X I can imitate the Nikon photo very closely but chose to do what Fuji X does best: be creative. I started with an in camera processed JPEG image, Softened the highlights & shadows. then ran it through photoshop for a different look: this is the result
While Fuji will never replace Nikon, [but would like Nikon to be more like Fuji X]. It is a viable camera that is easy & fun to use and takes quality photos.
I shot this about an hour earlier than the original, so the light is a bit stronger, and had to compensate by under exposing by about 1 to 2 stops to bring highlights into about zone 6 /7. Then bring up the shadows & blacks in Lightroom.
I have given serious thought to trading in my Nikon gear for a Fuji XT4. WE will see.
Not really Autumn but those colours give that impression! I use fill-in-flash to highlight the leaf and droplets!
These sunlit weeping cherry leaves looked even brighter against the Japanese red maple and sky in the front yard.
We're still coated with ice and now 8 inches of snow, as well. A most beautiful way to end the year. This Red Twig Dogwood entirely coated in sparkling ice.

The courtyard-cloister of the Culture Department in Córdoba has been enclosed with glass from top to bottom for climate control. It's a welcoming place and I think it's well done.
