Y se queja hoy en día, con 84 años, por que no puede poner los zapatos que le gustan, todos de tacón. Estos son unos de los que usaba antaño.
Stormtrooper Bruce decided to change Movie Night into Movie Night Marathon starting off with some of his favorite movies, and has an open invitation to anyone who wants to come.
Stormtrooper Bruce: I figured this is the perfect time for a movie marathon since Leave has been cancelled due to bad weather conditions.
TK-1110: I wasn't sure I'd be able to make it through these movies but so far so good. But I'm still holding on to this tissue box, just in case.
TK-432: It was really nice of Palatine to loan you the owl and snake from his Petting Zoo. They SO set the mood.
STB: Um, yeah. It was really nice of The P.
TK-1110: I know you have an open invitation for your Movie Marathon, but what if Vader shows up? You left the oe-Shay on the able-Tay.
TK-432: Dude! Are you saying he didn't "loan" them to you?
STB: Guys, we have guests. Let's just be quiet and enjoy the movie. Tonight we honor Professor Snape.

Había un grupo de swing, baile de los años 40, el fin de semana pasado en una convocatoria de asociaciones de diferentes estilos, y cuando vi los zapatos de esta chica no me pude resistir, así que foto!
Shot with the Olympus E-5.
I guess I just loved the contrasting linear structure as a black & white. It's fairly stark and juxtaposes the human form against a bleak, rustic, and austere environment.

The other day I was talking to Guilherme about how people (brazilians specially) are living only on oregano (an aromatic herb related to basil, used as seasoning in cooking), metaphorically speaking about the kind of information people are consuming these days.
It's like no one wants to eat beans and brocollis, they only want the spices. The top searches on the internet are for gossip, fashion and "easy mindless entertainment" such as "farm games".
And then, this morning I watched this Ted Talks Video. About how the new "algorithms" *believe* they *know* what we want to see.
The internet has changed, and it's important that you learn about it. The lecture is 9 minutes long and it's worth your time.

p.s. this photo is so full of concept ;D love it!
These shoes are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do! And one of these days, these shoes are gonna walk all over you!
The Smile on Saturday challenge for the 11th of April 2020 is "focus on heels", and these shoes with attitude, with their leopard skin and bright red heels seemed the perfect choice!

It was also published in an undated (early Jan 2011) blog titled "Women’s another name is high-heeled shoes." And it was published in an Aug 30, 2011 Fashion Design blog, with the same caption and detailed notes that I had written on this Flickr page.

While I still have many parts of New York City left to explore, I realized the other day that I don't always have to go looking elsewhere for interesting photographs; some of it is available just outside my front door.
I live on a street corner on the Upper West Side of Manhattan where there's an express stop on the IRT subway line, a crosstown bus stop, an entrance to the West Side Highway, and the usual range of banks, grocery stores, fast-food shops, mobile-phone stores, and other commercial enterprises. As a result, there are lots of interesting people moving past my apartment building, all day and all night long.
It's easy to find an unobtrusive spot on the edge of the median strip separating the east side of Broadway from the west side; nobody pays any attention to me as they cross the street from east to west, and nobody even looks in my direction as they cross from north to south (or vice versa).
So, these are some of the people I thought were photo-worthy during the past few days; I'll add more to the collection as the summer progresses ... unless, of course, other parts of New York City turn out to be more compelling from time to time.

This photo was for a test photoshoot and differently from what I've been doing, I tried to make this one more fashionable (instead of more romantic, like I usually do).
Most of the photos were taken with the kit lens at 18mm (awful kit lens by the way, I must save money for better glass). I was looking for the distortion this focal distance provides. Also another thing I wanted were lines, patterns and "clean/unclogged" sceneries for the photos.
I'm really pleased with the results. I hope you'll like them too ;-)
I had visited the location a few days before the shoot and for each scenery I had a very clear idea for poses and "feel" on them. Nothing in these images is just "by chance".
aaaaand I've made a post with the photos from Rossana's wedding. I hope you'll like them and if you feel like, drop a line on the blog too ;-)
This was taken in Gansevoort Square, which is located in Greenwich Village in NYC.
Note: I chose this as my "photo of the da" for Dec 14, 2015.

This is the continuation of a photo-project that I began in the summer of 2008 (which you can see in this Flickr set), and continued throughout 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 (as shown in this Flickr set, this Flickr set, this Flickr set, this Flickr set, and this Flickr set)
): a random collection of "interesting" people in a broad stretch of the Upper West Side of Manhattan -- between 72nd Street and 104th Street, especially along Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue. These are the people in my neighborhood, aka "peeps in the 'hood."
As I indicated when I first started this project six years ago, I don't like to intrude on people's privacy, so I normally use a zoom telephoto lens in order to photograph them while they're still 50-100 feet away from me; but that means I have to continue focusing my attention on the people and activities half a block away, rather than on what's right in front of me. Sometimes I find an empty bench on a busy street corner, and just sit quietly for an hour, watching people hustling past on the other side of the street; they're almost always so busy listening to their iPod, or talking on their cellphone, or daydreaming about something, that they never look up and see me aiming my camera in their direction.
I've also learned that, in many cases, the opportunities for an interesting picture are very fleeting -- literally a matter of a couple of seconds, before the person(s) in question move on, turn away, or stop doing whatever was interesting. So I've learned to keep my camera switched on, and not worry so much about zooming in for a perfectly-framed picture ... after all, once the digital image is uploaded to my computer, it's pretty trivial to crop out the parts unrelated to the main subject. Indeed, some of my most interesting photos have been so-called "hip shots," where I don't even bother to raise the camera up to my eye; I just keep the zoom lens set to the maximum wide-angle aperture, point in the general direction of the subject, and take several shots. As long as I can keep the shutter speed fairly high (which sometimes requires a fairly high ISO setting), I can usually get some fairly crisp shots -- even if the subject is walking in one direction, and I'm walking in the other direction, while I'm snapping the photos.
With only a few exceptions, I've generally avoided photographing bums, drunks, crazies, and homeless people. There are plenty of them around, and they would certainly create some dramatic pictures; but they generally don't want to be photographed, and I don't want to feel like I'm taking advantage of them. There have been a few opportunities to take some "sympathetic" pictures of such people, which might inspire others to reach out and help them. This is one example, and here is another example.
The other thing I've noticed, while carrying on this project for the past six years, is that while there are lots of interesting people to photograph, there are far, far, far more people who are not so interesting. They're probably fine people, and they might even be more interesting than the ones I've photographed ... unfortunately, there was just nothing memorable about them. They're all part of this big, crowded city; but for better or worse, there are an awful lot that you won't see in these Flickr sets of mine...
