Homeless in Ft. Lauderdale. I saw him many times loitering by the Shell gas station on Sunrise Boulevard. A basket full of clean clothes, slippers, a towel and a bottle of perfume was all that he had. Yes, he wore a wrist watch too. He slept in high sun, in over 100 degree temperature. Many a times police would come and wake him up from his slumber and ask him to move on, and he would, but only to return the moment the police car drove away. Finally he got too tired of moving, not sleeping and just the weakness which a diabetic only knows, made him to ignore the orders. Police came and asked him to wake up and go. He asked them where? Anywhere was the command. This is anywhere, was his response. He was defiant. I was looking at this drama unfold. Finally police ran out of arguments and took him away. I had to leave Florida that day. Some months later I called the owner of the Shell Gas Station and asked of this Brazilian Immigrant Homeless Man. First he did not recall then suddenly he remembered. I heard he died was his casual response. (At least he shared one thing with all other fellow humans. Death.)

The main job of our kidneys (which are roughly the size of two fists and are located deep in our abdomen, beneath our rib cage) is to remove toxins and excess water from our blood. Hypertension or high blood pressure is the most common risk for cardiovascular disease among Indians followed by diabetes, tobacco use and high cholesterol, a study of outpatient care in India has found.

Of the 68,196 patients from 10 cardiology outpatient departments included in the US-led study, hypertension was present in nearly 30 percent patients.

Researchers used the American College of Cardiology's PINNACLE India Quality Improvement Program registry to examine performance measures and outline areas for further improvement in cardiovascular care delivery.

The findings suggest that despite challenges, it is feasible to collect and study the quality of outpatient cardiovascular care in a resource-limited environment like India.

"This paper demonstrates the high potential for the American College of Cardiology and the PINNACLE registry to partner with cardiologists and help them improve the quality of outpatient cardiovascular care across the globe," said one of the study authors William Oetgen, executive vice president of science, education, and quality at the American College of Cardiology, a non-profit medical society.

There is a growing burden of cardiovascular disease in India, but only limited data is available on the quality of outpatient care for patients with coronary artery disease, heart failure and atrial fibrillation.

As the second most populous country in the world, India is experiencing an increase in the more traditional risk factors for coronary artery disease due to a rise in behavioral risk factors, including tobacco use, physical inactivity and poor diet coupled with low levels of awareness, treatment and control of risk factors, the study noted.

A cut hospital armband means I've been released. Yes, I was back in the hospital this week with toxic high blood pressure of 234/106. This has been an ongoing problem for me - I'll be fine for months or even years, then have an episode like this one.

All the doctors are perplexed about it and each time is more frightening for me than the last. My dad had a stroke after dealing with high blood pressure most of his life. Now I'm on three different medications and feeling the side effects...but I'm alive and relatively well...it's the little things that are sometimes the big things.

There are dozens of things around the house that I could have used in this challenge. Thousands more waiting outside. But what I have gone with is one of the most dangerous things you will find in your home, and the danger is hidden. The danger is SALT !

 

The following is a quote from the Mayo Clinic:

 

"According to the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans:

 

Don't exceed 2,300 mg of sodium a day if you're a healthy adult.

Don't exceed 1,500 mg of sodium a day if you have high blood pressure, kidney disease or diabetes; you are black; or you're middle-aged or older.

Keep in mind that these are upper limits, and less is usually best, especially if you're sensitive to the effects of sodium. If you aren't sure how much sodium your diet should include, talk to your doctor."

Now look at the nutrition label on this can of tomato soup. It tells us that there are 800 mg of salt in every 125 ml of the soup as it comes from the can. This is a 284 ml can. That means there are 1,818 mg of salt in this can. Typically, this can would provide two servings which means that the salt intake from one serving is over 900 mg of salt, 40% of your maximum recommended daily intake from just the soup! And that is only if you are a healthy adult. If you have high blood pressure, it is 61% of the recommended maximum. What else will you have at this meal that will add to the salt uptake?

 

And this is just one meal. Add what you get at two other meals and various snacks and it is easy to see why most of us get too much salt every day!

 

There are no maximum recommendations for children, probably because of the variance in their body weights, but if a child is a third to a half the adult weight, simple calculations would indicate that one serving of this soup would be 78 to 85% of what they should get.

 

High Blood Pressure (Hypertension) is a serious health risk, and high salt intake is a leading risk initiator for developing hypertension. Which can lead to heart attach or stroke.

 

That’s why I chose this photo for the challenge today. Salt is dangerous, and much of what we consume is hiding in everyday prepared foods and restaurant meals.

 

I will now step down from my soapbox!

 

After we were home from the ER a few days, I realized we had not cut Ken's ID bracelet off. We were sitting pondering what the bar codes might say. I said, "Well, I think this one says 'Diabetic,' and this one says 'high blood pressure.' Ken pointed to one and said, "And THIS one says STUPID!"

 

Oh my! I think it's why accidents are called ACCIDENTS! but he did make us both laugh!

The August 2015 Photo Challenge is a month long, black & white challenge that will consist of 1 photo per day. Each photo must pertain to something that happened in your life on that day- an event you attended, a person who had an impact on you, an object that played some role in your day.

 

It has now been revealed that vegetarian diets beat virtually all other diets for building massive muscle. Meat and Steak has been found to contain ladies' estrogen. Men who eat meat, once believing that it was more manly, grow over time more feminized.

 

What they discovered is that livestock meat farmers have been implanting meat and steak with a substance called "17-beta-estradiol", this is women's estrogen. Therefore when you eat meat, steaks, hamurgers, any meat at a restaurant, or BBQ, men have been eating girls hormonal pad secretions. You can confirm this yourself by simply putting "SYNOVEX-S CATTLE ESTRADIOL" into google. What you will see are the places cow farmers have been getting meat implants of female hormones and pumping it into cows which remains in your steak.

 

Why do they put this in steak? Because cow farmers wanted to get more money from you meat consumers. They used female hormones to fatten up the cows to make them weigh mor (bloating), so the meat farmers could get more per pound off of you, and didn't want to tell you they've been doing this for years. If you've been eating steak, you've been ingesting pre-menopausal ladies pregnacy fluids.

 

That's why so many men who brag about eating a lot of meat, over time begin to grow a paunch stomach, fat waist, wide female like hips and pelvis, and a flappy chest. Meat eaters were found to have lower testosterone levels than vegetarians. This is because a vegetarian man has more testosterone and has not been ingesting meat and steak which contains ladies effeminizing horomones.

 

Grass-fed beef does not solve the problem. Grassfed beef also contains hormones. This is ironic since the same farmers who told you meat was manly and were putting female hormones it it, are now selling you grassfed beef as if it is guaranteed organic and steroid free, it's not. The FDA certification for grass fed beef has nothing about it being organic. Grass-fed beef can still contain hormones, even though touters of it will deny it. However you can easily check this with the FDA which confirms its not, and that is a Federal Law. You've been sold another scam.

 

Even if your grassfed beef was organic, it still contains estrogenic compounds. ALL meat when cooked, especially when barbequed, grilled, fried, contains what are called "heterocyclic amines such as PhiP" (look it up. google it). This not only acts like estrogen, it causes cancer. So all the while someone has been telling you to ingest 'grass' fed beef, it's been effeminizing you and linked to cancer. So in addition to the recently revealed Paleo Diet scam in which the paleolithic diet was found to be false, grassfed meat has now been exposed as a ruse. Not that grassfed beef was even paleo anyway, because Black Angus and Hereford cows only came into existend genetically bred 2800 years ago, during the agricultural revolution of civilization. Not from Cavemen. In the time of Cavemen, this beef didn't even exist, so beef is disqualified from being allowed in the paleo diet. You can't eat beef on a Paleo Diet. If you're on a paleolithic cavman diet you cant eat beef, hamburgers, steak, barbeque, or any cattle meat. It's not paleo. Cavemen didn't eat it. It didn't exist.

 

The Paleo Diet, Crossfit, etc have all been revealed as unscientific scam fad diets that were made to appear scientific by perpetrators such as Mark Sisson, Robb Wolfe, Loren Cordain, The Primal Diet, etc. And urged along by a known front organization revealed to be fallacious known as the Weston A Price Foundation which was found to be dispersing false nutritional information made to appear scientific but found to be flawed and factually incorrect.

 

The best sources of protein are vegetarian, and the most massive huge muscled BODYBUILDER IN THE WORLD IS A VEGETARIAN.
