The deep indents are generally considered a sign of quality glue, thank you very much. This is made from Bull skin scraps left over from a tanning project.

First time using hide glue. It smells like decaying animal hooves, but is the right stuff for instrument repairs. It comes in these little pellets that you need to mix with water and apply at 140 degrees.

Somewhat elaborate clamping setup. Thanks for letting me borrow your clamps, Susan! The stack of baking pans is actually a high-tech weight to clamp the delamination back together.

It's engraved as property of Pittsburgh Public Schools. That's one of my favorite features....

Some of the plywood on the sides was delaminated.

And the seam between the back and the side was cracked almost the entire length of one side.

there are a bundle of little things to repair. the veneer is loose here and there. I pry the smallest syringe i can get, filled with hide glue, push the glue inside and clamp it shut.
