Gender-based violence, already a global crisis before the pandemic, has intensified since the outbreak of COVID-19. Lockdowns and other mobility restrictions have left many women trapped with their abusers, isolated from social contact and support networks. Increased economic precarity has further limited many women’s ability to leave abusive situations. COVID-driven economic and social instability will also heighten the risk of child marriage, female genital mutilation and human trafficking, 5.7% of adults aged 16 to 59 years experienced domestic abuse in the year ending March 2022.

Doing my tour guide bit, across the bay on the right of shot is Stepper Point, below the water here is a treacherous sandbank called “Doom Bar”. This is where Sharp’s Brewery got the name for its very popular ale.🍺👍🍺👍🍺👍
Continuing with the alcoholic theme, not far ahead on the left of shot, you can pick up the road out of Rock, guess what awaits, yep you will find Sharp’s Brewery where you can enjoy the delights of the testing facility, and while under the influence of the procedure, purchase many goodies.😜🍺🍷😁
Continuing the tour, this location is the Mouth of the Camel estuary, now if you conveniently have a boat in your backpack, it is possible to sail from here quite a way up the River Camel, where you will be able to moor the boat near Nanstallon. Then walk across the Camel Trail up into the beautiful Camel Valley Vineyard, where you will be greeted with much hospitality. The already idyllic view on occasions can become slightly impaired the more of the products you sample on their terrace.🚤⚓️
You may ask where the idea came from that this could be heaven, well basically when the sea water in my wellies started pouring out of my coat sleeves, it occurred there may be a slight problem, coupled with the fact several thousand gallons of water had staged a sit in at a planned escape route of mine.
Not one to make a drama out of a crisis I continued to press the shutter button, thinking how lucky we are. 🌊🌊🌊🐬😂😂😂

I have wanted to shoot this tree against a dark sky for a while. Well this week we have had plenty of dark skies, there is another single tree beside this one but while I shooting the hevens opened up again with a vengeance, I don`t mind getting wet but don`t like my gear to get too wet so I took a couple of shots then headed back to the car which was some way off.
This is a two shot focus stack image, I used 3 stop ND grad to hold back the sky and a polarise to enhance the foreground grasses .

Binnen afzienbare tijd zal het leuke interlokale tramtraject van het tramnet van Bochum-Gelsenkirchen tussen Laer en Papenholz vervangen worden door een verbinding via Langendreer. Het enkelsporige deel door het bos en in de berm van de weg bij Papenholz verdwijnt dan. Het naderende afscheid van dit traject was aanleiding tot een uitstap met KSW-motorwagen 96 van de Verkehrshistorische Arbeitsgemeinschaft Bogestra e.V.
