Noch vor der gesamteröffnung der Schnellfahrstrecke zwischen Hannover und Würzburg wurde der Teilabsnitt von Fulda nach Würzburg in Betrieb genommen. 120 110 rauscht mit dem Intercity 783 von nach Seefeld in Tirol bei Mittelkalbach durch die Landschaft.

Felsiger als so mancher Alpenberg präsentiert sich die Milseburg mit ihrem Gipfel aus massivem Vulkangestein. Von dem 835 m hohen Gipfel hat man einen großartigen Weitblick bis zum Taunus bei Frankfurt, zur Salzhalde des Monte Kali, zum Kahler Asten (Rothaargebirge, NRW), ja und manchmal sogar bis zum Brocken im Harz. Tagsüber war es noch recht trübe, aber zum späteren Abend hin war ein wolkenloser Himmel vorhergesagt. Und so kam es dann tatsächlich auch. Den Sonnenuntergang hier oben hatte ich dann völlig für mich alleine.

Rockier than many Alpine mountains, the Milseburg, with its summit of solid volcanic rock, is a mountain. From the 835-meter-high summit, you have a magnificent view extending all the way to the Taunus Mountains near Frankfurt, the salt dump of Monte Kali, the Kahler Asten (Rothaargebirge, North Rhine-Westphalia), and sometimes even to the Brocken in the Harz Mountains. During the day, it was still quite cloudy, but later in the evening, a cloudless sky was forecast. And that's exactly what happened. Up here, I had the sunset completely to myself.
