Captured from a GoPro Hero 3 video. The camera was attached to the handlebars on my bike. This is one of my favourite passage on my bike tours.
To be honest, you’re not exactly the best-looking newt I’ve ever seen. All the other newts have chocolate-colored backs and bright orange bellies and are cute as buttons. You’re rather pale and all wrinkly. But you were the only one I could find in the sunshine. Our spring has been slow in coming this year after above-average rain all winter, and the newt activity seems far less. So you’ll have to do.
One cool fact about you is that you have a toxin in your skin to protect yourself. It’s the same toxin used by pufferfish and can kill a person – if said person were foolish enough to attempt to eat you.
You were all by yourself on the sunny side of the creek, and when I immersed my little camera to get your picture, you took an interest. As a matter of fact, you became quite fascinated and started to follow it around! You seemed glad to have a friend who accompanied you as you meandered around the rocks. You were so cooperative it made me smile. We spent about 20 minutes together like that, and I came to realize that you truly are a super cute newt!
Be happy in the sunshine, wrinkles and all!

Took the GoPro to the beach again yesterday and we had so much fun!! I'm throwing the ball here and Blanca is bouncing off the ground as she starts her pursuit! When I use the GoPro, I typically set it to take a picture every 2 seconds and then aim it with the stick and hope for the best. I never know what I'm going to get.
Doesn't her shadow look like a piece of art?
I ran through the water with her and got my jeans all wet but who cares! :)
That's how we roll! She enjoys a good view! Notice how she positions her ears so they don't touch the ceiling :)
I attached the GoPro to the rear view mirror.
Having a dog gives you permission to be silly and spontaneous and splash in the water and have fun!! :)
Amazingly, this marks the half-way point of my 52-week project! I can't believe how fast it's going!
We had hiked a lovely trail along this river and finished by going down to the water so she could get a drink. Just beyond where she is standing, the water gets a lot deeper, fast-flowing and has this beautiful color! I wonder if every river has a unique taste. Towards the upper left in the image, there is something pink - I think that's probably her tongue!

That Miley Cyrus song naturally came to mind as I watched this rough-skinned newt climb up the rocks against the stream with a strenuous effort and steely determination!
The more newt pictures I post, the more I worry that I might be in danger of turning into Gussie Fink-Nottle!!! (A comical character described as a newt fancier in the P.G. Wodehouse novels of Jeeves.) Newts really are just so darn cute!

The Pacific Ocean is cold - but only for the first few seconds and then it feels SOOO good to walk like this and I don't ever want to stop!
We've had some fine weather and I had a little fun with my GoPro yesterday, which I hadn't used all winter. Blanca is standing in the distance waiting for me.
A pair of rough-skinned newts. The sunlight was beautiful coming through the water.

Finally got the damn balloon out of a tree thanks to my buddy Nate and my Dad's crack archery shooting! The pictures coming out look amazing!
Congrats to my 2016 senior class for successfully building and launching this project!
You live in your underwater world while I walk up top just yards away, and most of the time I’m never even aware of you. But this afternoon when the tide was low and the sun came out, I saw you. A beam of sunlight caught your tentacles and lit you up so beautifully, like a little green sun with a fiery ring of flames around you.
In your mysterious world on the seafloor, there are ancient forests, rivers and meadows with colorful flowers … they’re all just a little different from the ones I know. And that’s what I love about you! You’re so different and exciting. It’s almost like you’re a messenger from a parallel universe.
I grew up bilingual, so I’ve always known there is more than one way to do things and more than one way to think. Being in the tidal zone, you’re sort of bi-existential, too. Sometimes you’re left high and dry out of water and then you hide your tentacles and look like an old wet sock. But you can survive and you just wait. The tide will return and when it does, you transform back into that alluring and predatory flower of the seafloor!
Be intoxicatingly different!

We spent a lovely Saturday afternoon picking 8 pounds of plump blueberries in a wonderful U-Pick farm called Jensen Blueberries. It is all certified organic and you can bring your dog! They have a huge Bloodhound who comes to greet everybody. There are sooooo many berries ... I might have to return and get more! It is a miraculously grounding and harmonizing activity to be doing. It just makes you feel good!
I offered Blanca some berries (and the owners don't mind if you or your dog sample plenty) ... but she didn't even want to try a single one!
This is a beautiful spot for a rest stop along the Rogue River Trail in southern Oregon. Even though it was hot on the trail, Blanca was too intimidated by the sound of the 30-foot waterfall to venture into the pool. I saw a newt among the rocks in the water! This is a 3.5 mile hike from the trailhead near Agness.
So many angles but didn't have my right lens for my Nikon camera. I decided to GoPro this photo which had a wide enough angle. I really am willing to spend the night in Rome next time to capture twilight shots of this amazing structure.
Atlas is a bronze statue in front of Rockefeller Center in midtown Manhattan, New York City, across Fifth Avenue from St. Patrick's Cathedral. The sculpture depicts the Ancient Greek Titan Atlas holding the heavens. It was created by sculptor Lee Lawrie with the help of Rene Paul Chambellan, and it was installed in 1937.~ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlas_(statue)

At the creek yesterday with Blanca, I incidentally came upon a whole bunch of these rough-skinned newts. They were in very shallow water and were not shy. The greatest difficulty for me was not getting TOO CLOSE with the GoPro!
The male in the foreground has latched onto the lady of his dreams and is determined to never let her go!

This beauty is located in the Calumet County countryside southeast of Appleton, Wi. This shot was taken with my GoPro Hero3 Black Edition camera.
A cool way to view mine or anyone else's photostream is on fluidr.
I can't swim away from the shore. Knowledge, that there's no ground beneath my feet, literally paralyzes me with fear.
So swimming along the coast in the shallow water was always my choice.
But this summer, I swam out of my comfort zone and dived in the Black Sea!
It was really great fun (especially after I fed some nice fish and completely relaxed)!
We dived at the depth of 9-11 meteres and explored the "treasures" of the bottom of the sea, such as lots of anchors, an old boat (it was written "Titanic" on it's side, I swear!), seashells, stones and amazing fish!
It was an unforgettable experience! My new dream is to become a certified diver :)

I shot this footage in August 2016 and thought it was just such a pretty drive. My GoPro camera was mounted with a suction cup mount on the inside of the windshield. This is slightly faster than real life so I can cram more into 3 minutes. Be my passenger and enjoy the beauty!

Because a video says more than a thousand words, here is Blanca showing off her current trotting ability without brace!
Left knee ligament was last re-injured 3.5 months ago. I still don't let her run free on the beach but mostly just out of an abundance of caution. I'll give it just a little more time. There is a bit of a wobble in her gait that she didn't used to have, but I'll take it!

Sometimes on a bright sunny day, there is a cool sea fog that hovers over the beach. The fog interrupts all the colors and turns the sea into a silky liquid silver that glistens so beautifully! It is a magical atmosphere.
It's been a while since I've done a video. Everyone I know, including myself, needs cheering up these days, so I wanted to share some beautiful moments! Have your sound on to hear the waves with the music.
