Yesterday I went to the opening of Her Father's Cider Bar + Kitchen (H.F.). This is a great addition to the bar and restaurant scene Give me cider over beer any day. I'm a fan of French ciders so it's good news that Canadian craft ciders are finally coming of age. On Sunday there is even the Appleseed Cider Festival at the Wychwood Barns.
My personal house cider is Shiny Apple Cider 100% Ontario apples. Watch out for the fake 'craft ' ciders purveyed by the large beer companies. Read the label and you will know what I'm saying about the fake part.
Two new ciders to be exited about:
A sparkling cider from Niagara’s Tawse Winery made with a blend of Ontario apples and fermented with champagne yeast. A dry very sparkling, crisp apple taste with a hint of floral wild flower honey. Most sophisticated cider yet but still true to the cider breed.
K W Thai ginger while not a pure cider would pair well with spicy food or even Sushi
I'm sure I will find many more next time I stop by.
THE PERFECT DRESS Jennifer's wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing coulddampen her excitement -- not even her parents' nasty divorce. Her mother had found the PERFECT dress to wear and would bethe best dressed mother-of-the-bride ever! A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that herfather's new young wife had bought the exact same dress as her mother! Jennifer asked her step mom to exchange it, but she refused."Absolutely not. I look like a million bucks in this dress, and I'm wearing it," she replied. Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, "Never mindsweetheart. I'll get another dress. After all, it's yourspecial day." A few days later, they went shopping and did find anothergorgeous dress. When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother,"Aren't you going to return the other dress? You really don't haveanother occasion where you could wear it." Her mother just smiled and replied, "Of course I do, dear. I'mwearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night before thewedding." NOW I ASK YOU - IS THERE A WOMAN OUT THERE, ANYWHERE, WHOWOULDN'T ENJOY THIS STORY? SEND IT TO EVERY WOMAN YOU KNOW AND LET THEM HAVE A GOODLAUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pakistan :Reaping the Bloody Harvest of US-Sponsored 'Democracy' and 'War on Terror' .
Pakistani leader Benazir Bhutto's return to the country after eight years of exile has been marked by a horrific bomb .
blast that claimed over 150 lives and grievously injured thousands. The celebrations were plunged in blood within the span of a few minutes. AISA condemns this heinous attack which killed innocent civilians. The whole tragedy only goes to show the dangers of allo·,ving the US imperialists to script the path to democracy and the fight against terrorism in South Asia. We may never know exactly who engineered the Karachi blasts: fingers have been pointed at Pakistan intelligence officials, key figures in Musharraf's military regime as well as various militant outfits like the Tallban, ai-Qaeda and prcr Taliban Pakistani tribal fighters. The tribal outfits have denied responsibility and none of the other outfits have d aimed .
responsibility. But what we do know and should heed is that Pakistan is reaping the harvest of its long alliance with the US .
and its continued position as a frontline ally of the US 'war on terror'. There has been a growing clamour among top US policy makers for a greater US role in Pakistan -even for intervention .
by the US military in Pakistan. The US in the past used Pakistan as a hatching ground for the Taliban to counter Russian .
intervention in Afghanistan. The lSI and the Pak military have for long been closely intertwined with the US -and Pakistan .
of the US, very similar to that of Israel. Now the US visualises Pakistan along with.
enjoys the status of a 'non-NATO ally' . India as key bases for the US in South Asia. The growing pro-democracy mood in Pakistan also had the US Masters worried -because the prcrdemocracy mood was also harnessing popular anger against Musharrafs role as a US stooge. Benazir's return is part of a deal with Musharraf .
that has been brokered by the US as a move to introduce some US-controlled doses of 'democracy' in the hope that it win I stem the tide of popular resentment. But it is clear that democracy cannot be a reality in Pakistan until and unless the role .
of the military that is closely intertwined with the US is done away with. .

Benazir had 'qualified' to be the US-approved PM of Pakistan through her act of hailing the Pak Govt.'s .

For us In India the experience of our close neighbour ought to teach us a few lessons and wam us against cozying up r-to the US in the name of a 'war on terror'. The US has always fuelled terror in the sub-continent and South Asia -top .
-b (/-._ Khalistani leaders were harboured by the UK and US, for instance, and the Taliban was born at US behest. The US is a .
dangerous ally. The more India walks into the strategic trap laid by the US, the greater will be the distrust between India and Pakistan's , .
the more India will become vulnerable to terror, the more India's democracy and sovereignty will be threatened like Pakistanhas been. Contrarily, the more India and Pakistan are able to delink their domestic and foreign policies from American .
Interests and calculations, the closer they can move towards bilateral and regional cooperation -and that can indeed be the .
best antidote against terrorism and the best hope for stable democracy in the whole of South Asia. The JNU student community must stand In solidarity with the besieged people of Pakistan, struggling for genuine democracy, braving the twin guns of US-ponsored mtlftary dictatorship and the terrorism It Is fueling. We must also oppose every attempt of our ruling UPA government to make India a slavish parlner of US' dangerous gamaplan in South Asia. .
