While taking some pictures of the Red-winged Blackbirds at the seed log a Red-bellied Woodpecker flew up - apparently tired of waiting for the slowpoke Blackbirds to leave.

Not the best shot but a fun surprise none-the-less.

Having a three week break in the Lake District as of tomorrow and popping up to Portree for a couple of days mid-July. Possibly a visit to the beautiful Northumberland coast will be on the cards as well if this awful weather picks up. No matter what the weather I intend having an ace time. This camera used to belong to my father. Shortly before he died, or when he was sick, or sometime around then, he told his brother Arnie that he could have it. Arnie is a photography buff, like my dad was - their father was a photographer - and after my dad died, he took the camera home to Maine with him. This fall, when my mom and I visited him and his wife, he sat me down on the couch and gave it to me.

My dad loved this camera. Now I just have to figure out how to use the darn thing.
