Genieten!

-----

It's only due to the delay of this RE train with scheduled arrival at Lindau Hbf at 18:54 PM that I was able to make my picture of the RegionalBahn in Nonnenhorn.

Normally both trains are crossing each other on the single track at Nonnenhorn station. On the 16th of July however I had plenty of time to drive to Lindau and the viewing point at the Bismarckdenkmal since the RE only passed around 19:15 PM.

A fine panorama and I am pleased that I've got it in chip without catenary - although already with two new Ks Signals that would soon hereafter replace the old semaphore signal at the right.

“And Mary brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.” (Luke 2:7).

PHOTO NOTE

The photograph here is one of the most widely published in 2025. It was taken in the completely destroyed Gaza by Abdel Kareem Hana of Associated Press. Hana is not only a superb documentary photographer, but a truly brave human being putting his life on the line to bring the truth to the world of the consequences of this one-sided war on Gaza. He was also given the International Photography Award in 2025 for his series “Children of Gaza: Surrounded by War”.

I have taken a great liberty in adding the small nativity scene here. But I do so to honour Abdel Kareem Hana and the children of Gaza, who have had to witness scenes of utter devastation they neither deserved, nor should have experienced, because of these war crimes.

______________________________________________

“Then Herod (the Jewish king), when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men. Then was fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah:

“A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping and loud lamentation,

Rachel weeping for her children; she refused to be comforted, because they are no more.”

(Matthew 2:16-18).

In the legend of the nativity of the baby Jesus, three wise men came from the East (perhaps Persia, and maybe even as far as India). They were astrologers who had read the signs in the heavens that a new king was to be born in Judea. As men of diplomatic note, the wise men found the Jewish king Herod and informed him of their desire to find this special baby to honour him. Herod told the men that when they found the babe they should inform him of the whereabouts so that he too could pay homage. But the canny wise men knew what the jealous Herod was up to and did not return with the news. As a result a slaughter of innocents took place throughout the region, and only because the angel of the Lord had warned Joseph did the holy family escape to Egypt so that the baby Jesus’ life was spared.

Most children in Gaza are born into Muslim families, and they are also taught to respect the baby Jesus. What many Christians don’t understand is that there are many references to the prophet Jesus in the Quran and they are all respectful and honour him (and believe in a virginal conception). Here is the account of the nativity:

“When the angels said, ‘O Mary, truly God gives thee glad tidings of a Word from Him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, high honored in this world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought nigh. He will speak to people in the cradle and in maturity, and will be among the righteous.’ She said, ‘My Lord, how shall I have a child while no human being has touched me?’ He said, ‘Thus does God create whatsoever He will.’ When He decrees a thing, He only says to it, ‘Be!’ and it is. And He will teach Him (Jesus) the Book, Wisdom, the Torah, and the Gospel. And He will be a messenger to the Children of Israel.” (Surah Al Imran 3: 45-49).

I am not going to make a speech here about the current sad state of our world at the Christmas of 2025. Anyone who thinks seriously and ethically about what it means to be fully human should understand these issues. And every Christian should ask themselves in the light of their Gospels, what would Jesus have me to think and do? But equally, let me warn anyone who dares to use that now inflammatory phrase showing up in reactionary rallies, “Christ is King”, that you are judged not according to what you think about Jesus, but how your life reflects his Truth. As the adult Jesus said so potently, “Not everyone who says they follow me does, for by their fruit you will know them.” Only those who do what Jesus instructed us to do (Matthew chapters 5-7) can be called his disciples. So if there is hatred in your heart, deception and violent thoughts, a turning of a blind eye to cruelty, a lack of care for the poor and the outcast, a rejection of the immigrant and outsider, a belief in the superiority of your race or religion, then please understand this: You are not of Jesus Christ!

For Jesus blessed the little children 2000 years ago, and in the same way today would bless every innocent child, and especially those that are being slaughtered in the name of some false religious and political ideals.

That tiny baby born in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago, whose life was threatened directly by the then Jewish king, understands fully that every child - and especially those in war-torn regions - deserves the love and compassion of us all. If we can’t summon that in our hearts, then we are not ethical human beings created in the image of God. And may God have mercy on your soul.

Blessing and Peace to all the Earth, so that Joy may reign in our communities.

Mists of damp heat rise up out of the fields around the sleeping abbey. The whole valley is flooded with moonlight and I can count the southern hills beyond the watertank, and almost number the trees of the forest to the north. Now the huge chorus of living beings rises up out of the world beneath my feet: life singing in the watercourses, throbbing in the creeks and the fields and the trees, choirs of millions and millions of jumping and flying and creeping things. And far above me the cool sky opens upon the frozen distance of the stars.

Thoughts of the last moment are sometimes the better ones, I must admit. While packing our stuff to go home, it appeared to us that we could still make it for the TER Service to Sarreguemines. This service was one of the last ones hauled a BB67400 series diesel. We won the race against the clock; in what were really the last rays of sunshine I got my one and only photo of this loco-hauled service. Shortly hereafter the train was replaced by railcars.

The Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, marking the official end of World War I. Nonetheless, the armistice date of November 11, 1918, remained in the public imagination as the date that marked the end of the conflict.

One year later, in November 1919, U.S. President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day. The day’s observation included parades and public gatherings, as well as a brief pause in business and school activities at 11 a.m.

On November 11, 1921, an unidentified American soldier killed in the war was buried at Arlington National Cemetery near Washington, D.C. On the same day the previous year, unidentified soldiers were laid to rest at Westminster Abbey in London and at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.

Did you know? Red poppies, a symbol of World War I from their appearance in the beloved poem "In Flanders Fields" by John McCrae, are sold in Canada and the United Kingdom on Remembrance Day to raise money for veterans or worn in the lapel as a tribute.

On June 4, 1926, Congress passed a resolution that the “recurring anniversary of [November 11, 1918] should be commemorated with thanksgiving and prayer and exercises designed to perpetuate peace through good will and mutual understanding between nations,” and that the president should issue an annual proclamation calling for the observance of Armistice Day.

By that time, 27 state legislatures had made November 11 a legal holiday. An act approved May 13, 1938 made November 11 a legal Federal holiday, “dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be hereafter celebrated and known as ‘Armistice Day.'”

In actuality, there are no U.S. national holidays because the states retain the right to designate their own, and the government can only designate holidays for federal employees and for the District of Columbia. In practice, however, states almost always follow the federal lead.

From Armistice Day to Veterans Day

American effort during World War II saw the greatest mobilization of the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force in the nation’s history (more than 16 million people); some 5.7 million more served in the Korean War.

In 1954, after lobbying efforts by veterans’ service organizations, the 83rd U.S. Congress amended the 1938 act that had made Armistice Day a holiday, striking the word “Armistice” in favor of “Veterans.” President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the legislation on June 1, 1954. From then on, November 11 became a day to honor American veterans of all wars.

The next development in the story of Veterans Day unfolded in 1968, when Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act, which sought to ensure three-day weekends for federal employees—and encourage tourism and travel—by celebrating four national holidays (Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Veterans Day and Columbus Day) on Mondays.

The observation of Veterans Day was set as the fourth Monday in October. The first Veterans Day under the new law was Monday, October 25, 1971; confusion ensued, as many states disapproved of this change, and continued to observe the holiday on its original date.

In 1975, after it became evident that the actual date of Veterans Day carried historical and patriotic significance to many Americans, President Gerald Ford signed a new law returning the observation of Veterans Day to November 11th beginning in 1978. If November 11 falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the federal government observes the holiday on the previous Friday or following Monday, respectively. Government offices are closed on Veterans Day.

With Respect, Honor and Gratitude to all Veterans

The tidal force produced by a massive object (Moon, hereafter) on a small particle located on or in an extensive body (Earth, hereafter) is the vector difference between the gravitational force exerted by the Moon on the particle, and the gravitational force that would be exerted on the particle if it were located at the Earth's center of mass.

Public toilets on the banks of the Ganges

Varanasi (India) - It is not insulting Indians to say that they are not materialistic. For them, the essential is elsewhere. In the hereafter, no doubt ?! This is the reason why these public urinals appear to be poorly maintained. Anyway, why use them - and maintain them - the sacred river is less than 10 meters away. Urinals on the banks of the Ganges, it is redundant. The main thing is elsewhere, the Indians will tell you.

Old Man

By Edward Thomas

Old Man, or Lad's-love,—in the name there's nothing

To one that knows not Lad's-love, or Old Man,

The hoar-green feathery herb, almost a tree,

Growing with rosemary and lavender.

Even to one that knows it well, the names

Half decorate, half perplex, the thing it is:

At least, what that is clings not to the names

In spite of time. And yet I like the names.

The herb itself I like not, but for certain

I love it, as some day the child will love it

Who plucks a feather from the door-side bush

Whenever she goes in or out of the house.

Often she waits there, snipping the tips and shrivelling

The shreds at last on to the path, perhaps

Thinking, perhaps of nothing, till she sniffs

Her fingers and runs off. The bush is still

But half as tall as she, though it is as old;

So well she clips it. Not a word she says;

And I can only wonder how much hereafter

She will remember, with that bitter scent,

Of garden rows, and ancient damson-trees

Topping a hedge, a bent path to a door,

A low thick bush beside the door, and me

Forbidding her to pick.

As for myself,

Where first I met the bitter scent is lost.

I, too, often shrivel the grey shreds,

Sniff them and think and sniff again and try

Once more to think what it is I am remembering,

Always in vain. I cannot like the scent,

Yet I would rather give up others more sweet,

With no meaning, than this bitter one.

I have mislaid the key. I sniff the spray

And think of nothing; I see and I hear nothing;

Yet seem, too, to be listening, lying in wait

For what I should, yet never can, remember:

No garden appears, no path, no hoar-green bush

Of Lad's-love, or Old Man, no child beside,

Neither father nor mother, nor any playmate;

Only an avenue, dark, nameless, without end.

The artistic design of the interior in the ornamental style of the rococo has a rousing effect on today's viewer. The overpowering is a planned effect: the splendor of the church should convince the believers of the greatness of God. Heaven and the Hereafter are literally brought down to earth, so that the believer can not only guess, but visually see them.

During my first visit to Bryce Canyon National Park, the Thor’s Hammer rock formation really caught my eye. On our most recent trip, I was better prepared to navigate the icy, slippery trails, allowing me to visit the formation multiple times and capture its light in various conditions. I particularly enjoyed going in the early morning before the crowds arrived, where I could watch the sunrise gradually illuminate the hoodoo formations.

The World of Dreams and Nature of Death

Remember where your real body is when you are asleep and dreaming? Do you feel pain in your dream when you dream your hand is cut off? Or are you sobbing when you dream of being abandoned by someone you love? How do you feel if your dream is accepted by the person you hope for in your dream? And what do you feel when in your dreams you get immeasurable money? Or what if I dreamed that my baby was born as a baby and in your dreams you lived for 70 years and experienced growth, grief, happiness, joy and distress, meeting, separation, love, hate, marriage, love ... how are you feeling?

Then is the difference in the feelings in your dreams with reality? The answer is "SAME" your race in the dream and the real world are the same. What sets it apart is when you wake up and realize that you were dreaming or feeling that arises when you are aware and the feeling that arises when you are unconscious. And how nice it is when you wake up when you have just got a nightmare and how sad it is when you wake up when you are dreaming of making love with your lover or when you get so much money and wake up that feeling of disappointment comes

Beautiful dreams and nightmares

And wearing dreams can make dreams in dreams so that they cannot distinguish between dreams and what is reality, those who are truly in the akult unconscious. Because interest in even the smallest dream can make the dreamer stay in his dream. So that even when they wet the bed they didn't realize it. But make no mistake, even though having a bad dream that tends to make people want to wake up can also bind you in the dream world when you are so interested in the feeling of wanting to suffer or in nature that you will tend to dream again. For example, a person who commits suicide in his dream will wake up but because he has no knowledge, then when he falls asleep he will dream again and then commit suicide again and enter into layers and commit suicide again ... so on, he is lost in a dreamland that is not edge over. So to be free from the dream itself there is knowledge and knowledge that you will get in your dream world if you want it.

Now those who are freed from dreams are those who have been awakened to open their blankets (HOW PEOPLE ARE SURROUNDING UP !!) and lift the bed and run! . Those who have been awakened but still covered and are reluctant to get out of bed are those who have the potential to go back to sleep.

Nature of Dreams and Nature The real world

Which realm is this dream realm or real world nature? Pay attention when you experience bad things or hear things that you don't like and do not comfort your thoughts and feelings. Then you fall asleep. It can have an impact or be carried away in your dream realm and you may be having a bad dream and experiencing suffering in your dream realm. But that also does not mean that rich people cannot cheat badly, of course you can! Because dreams are from feelings and memories, even rich people who do bad things will experience nightmares.

At present most people see that the world is a reality but a small percentage of people see this world of dreams and are called mortal or virtual. "Because this world is just a playground and a joke", how come a joke is killing? ... yes in your dream if you are killed you can live again and if you still hold a grudge you will dream again (to live again) to kill people that, but what does that mean if you only dream. But if there is no awareness it is a dream then killing and fulfilling lust is very important because it is considered a reality.

"Can you remember your body when you were asleep dreaming?" because you will feel that your real body is in a dream, right ?? Then when your body (your body) dies and will you get a new body? The answer is "Yes" automatically just like when you dream of getting a body just the difference now you are dreaming without a body. And those who are bound to the world with various feelings will be bound to the things of the world that make them miserable in the "dream" realm that is already without body ...

Then when my heart isn't working, what's the real one? Your dream realm? or this world? So it is not too surprising for a small number of people who see this world as a dreamland they can show a few miracles and lots of magic.

Then what is Heaven and Hell? Are they there? Then what is for ritual worship? Then ghosts, demons, angels, etc.? then is the dream realm in layers? If so, how many layers? Then how to penetrate it? Is it possible to penetrate? Then God? ... hmmm hopefully it can be discussed later.

But the most important of all the questions at the moment is how to produce happy "dreams"? Yes! the important thing is "Live with a calm and thankful heart and little or no excessive negative or positive feelings" ... and the main key to calm down

And of course it applies also "The one whose heart is calm in this world will be calmer also in the hereafter" ... Which in the prayer sentence reads "Happy in the world and the hereafter" ...

-----

Of course I tried to make more pictures of the < ahref="https://flic.kr/p/2q7uaHS">mint green diesel class 628. First of all just west of Bad Waldsee when the unit returned to Aulendorf.

For the following train to Kißlegg, I had choses the for passengers closed station of Rossberg as background. Together with a German colleague we were able to photograph the train in this semaphore equipped station.

Hereafter I said goodbye to the diesel route from Aulendorf to Kißlegg. Time to go to another location for the rest of the morning.

About the picture - Taken at Eravathur hills, Calicut

Leadenhall Market is a covered market in London, England, located on Gracechurch Street but with vehicular access also available via Whittington Avenue to the north and Lime Street to the south and east, and additional pedestrian access via a number of narrow passageways.

It is one of the oldest markets in London, dating from the 14th century, and is located in the historic centre of the City of London financial district.

The market dates from the 14th century and is said to derive its name from Leather-hall, though it is disputable. The early history of Leaden Hall involves the Mayor (1446), Simon Eyre. According to John Stow, "Eyre, a draper built Leaden Hall for a common garner of corn for the use of this city".

The Market is typically open weekdays from 10 am until 6 pm, and primarily sells fresh food; among the vendors there are cheesemongers, butchers and florists. Originally a meat, game and poultry market, it stands on what was the centre of Roman London.[4] A number of commercial retailers are also located in the market, including clothes shops. The Lamb Tavern, dating from 1780, is a traditional gathering place for insurance industry workers, many of whom work at Lloyd's of London adjacent to Leadenhall Market.

The ornate roof structure, painted green, maroon and cream, and cobbled floors of the current structure, designed in 1881 by Sir Horace Jones (who was also the architect of Billingsgate and Smithfield Markets), make Leadenhall Market a tourist attraction.

The main entrance to the market is on Gracechurch Street. The double height entrance is flanked by tall, narrow gabled red brick and Portland stone blocks in a 17th-century Dutch style. The adjacent buildings to the south have a continuous retail frontage which is punctuated by narrow entrances to pedestrian ways into the market.

Between 1990 and 1991 the market received a dramatic redecoration which improved its appearance, enhancing its architectural character and detail. The redecoration scheme received a special mention in the Civic Trust Awards in 1994. The market is a Grade II* listed building, being listed in 1972.

It was used to represent the area of London near the Leaky Cauldron and Diagon Alley in the film Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) and is featured in the films The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (2009), Hereafter (2010), Brannigan (1975), Hidden City (1987) and Love Aaj Kal (2009). It was also used in the music video for the 1991 Erasure song "Love to Hate You".

Leadenhall Market formed part of the marathon course of the 2012 Olympic Games; runners passed through the market from Whittington Avenue to Lime Street.

Furthermore, it is featured in Mario Kart Tour and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as part of the London Loop Course .

Taking his cue from the Bible, or more precisely, from the experience of the prophets that produced biblical speech, Heschel offers a literary analysis of how religious words can function as “hyphens between heaven and earth,”135 a claim that implies a formal connection between the two.

-Sophia The Hidden Christ of Thomas Merton, Christopher Pramuk

The metaphor is a concrete image that alludes to another reality, based upon some analogy between the two terms. The “vehicle” of the metaphor is the term (or image) that appears in the text, alluding to the “tenor,” the absent reality or concept. Metaphor may be used to express something less known, abstract, or even unknown, by something more familiar: for example, “A mighty fortress is our God.” A fortress alludes to one particular aspect of the Deity, seen from a definitely human perspective. The common quality that enables the metaphorical equation or comparison is the “ground” of the metaphor, here God’s strength and stability. Heschel depicts the “ground” of the biblical metaphor as a “hyphen between heaven and earth,” since it hints to what is ultimately real. The vehicle and tenor themselves remain incomplete representations of their referents, for they must emphasize, in order to intensify them, only certain characteristics. In this sense as well, Heschel avers that religious assertion functions as understatement, for the vehicle of language can never completely express the divine tenor.

Edward K. Kaplan, Holiness in Words: Abraham Joshua Heschel’s Poetics of Piety (Albany: State University of New York Press, 1996), 10; hereafter HW.

No pain, no face

Only silence, dark light

Now this makes sense to me

I finally know where I am

And so I look back at the people I know back then

To those with whom I roamed through life hand in hand

To see the world change as I once rose to the hereafter

Time that I lived my life and that alone makes me antique

I gave myself the meaning in my life

And that means war

This makes me antique

Enjoyed it piece by piece, look back to life

And that means victory

This makes me antique

People who once left me or who hated me then

Made it harder for me, never dealt with my life

Even if you do not want to believe me, thank you

Because only through their hatred and envy I am now immortal

People love you when you do your thing well

But are you doing your thing right you are godless and hated

Death is timeless peace and life is war

Only if you win this battle are you antique

I gave myself the meaning in my life

And that means war

This makes me antique

Enjoyed it bit by bit, like to look back during your lifetime

And that means victory

This makes me antique

People who once left me or who hated me then

Made it harder for me, never dealt with my life

Even if you do not want to believe me, thank you

Because only by their hatred and envy I am now antique...

Child of the pure unclouded brow

And dreaming eyes of wonder!

Though time be fleet, and I and thou

Are half a life asunder,

Thy lowing smile will surely hail

The love-gift of a fairy-tale.

I have not seen thy sunny face,

Nor heard thy silver laughter:

No thought of me shall find a place

In thy young life's hereafter--

Enough that now thou wilt not fail

To listen to my fairy-tale.

A tale begun in other days,

When summer suns were glowing--

A simple chime, that served to time

The rhythm of our rowing--

Whose echoes live in memory yet,

Though envious years would say "forget."

Come, hearken then, ere voice of dread,

With bitter tidings laden,

Shall summon to unwelcome bed

A melancholy maiden!

We are but older children, dear,

Who fret to find our bedtime near...

--Lewis Carroll. From Through the Looking Glass.

You're headed for heaven,

The sweet old hereafter,

And I've got one foot in the door.

But before I can fly up,

I've loose ends to tie up,

Right here in

The old therebefore.

I'll be along

When I've finished my song,

When I've shut down the band,

When I've played out my hand,

When I've paid all my debts,

When I have no regrets,

Right here in

The old therebefore,

When nothing

Is left anymore.

Next week Chinese New Year will begin, and it will be the Year of the Snake, so I thought it's time to make a snake scene. And what snake scene could be better than a tribute to Lucy Gray Baird from "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes"? :)

In the movie this is a very powerful scene, in which Lucy, a tribute from District 12 for the 10th Hunger Games, who is not a hunter like Katniss, but a singer, is singing "The Old Therebefore" to calm down the genetically modified snakes, which already killed four other tributes (two in the book) and swarmed towards her. Did a song really prevent them from attacking? Well, I can't tell, because it's a very big spoiler, but it's much more complicated than just that! ;)

Lucy is a very interesting character, and I really like the film (I have a book, but didn't read it yet) so I was considering to make her a tribute with a different scene (not with Snow!), but this one is better. Fun fact: she wrote "The Hanging Tree", the song which became the rebel's anthem after Katniss sang it for a propaganda spot (and I did a tribute for the song here). So, Lucy and her mockingjays could never harm you again, eh, Snow? xD

Since there are no yellow dresses with flowers pattern in Lego, I have to digitally change the colors on Anna's dress from "Frozen", cause it's the only pattern that very remotely reminds me of the pattern on Lucy's corset. Some windows on the Arena have glass, some don't (there's a reason for this, but it's also a spoiler), just like in the film, though in the picture they all ended up looking the same.

You can watch the full scene here:

Abba Poeman said to Abba Joseph, “Tell me how to become a monk.” He said, “If you want to find rest here below, and hereafter, in all circumstances say, Who am I? and do not judge anyone.”

Dear friends tomorrow I am going on a holiday-trip to Egypt. See you in 11 days.

Thinking what to upload, I found an old photo captured at the wedding of a friend of mine at the very moment when the bride made a surprise to her husband with the professional belly dance performance. In this image you can see me enchanted by the dancer, putting money in her bra.

Recaptured photo with additional editing.

Ghazal 22

When you hear the lovers’ words, think them not a mistake

You don’t recognize these words, the error must be your take.

The here and hereafter cannot tame my spirit and soul

Praise God for all the intrigue in my mind that is at stake.

I know not who resides within my heart

Though I am silent, he must shake and quake.

My heart went through the veil, play a song

Hark, my fate, this music I must make.

I paid no heed, worldly affairs I forsake

It is for your beauty, beauty of the world I partake.

My heart is on fire, I am restless and awake

To the tavern to cure my hundred day headache.

My bleeding heart has left its mark in the temple

You have every right to wash my body in a wine lake.

In the abode of the Magi, I am welcome because

The fire that never dies, in my heart is awake.

What was the song the minstrel played?

My life is gone, but breathing, I still fake!

Within me last night, the voice of your love did break

Hafiz’s breast still quivers and shakes for your sake.

Still waters run deep and life is deeper still,

The meaning of time and the passing of days,

Like the tranquil pond in autumn's haze,

A time for life a time for death,

A never ending circle of birth and passing

Surrender to the summers of time gone by,

Begun in spring to end in winter,

A glimpse of peace to be had,

The resignation of the simple truth

King and slave the strong and weak,

All to pass when time has come,

None to see the coming hereafters

Such vanity of men to think they understand,

If only they could see the loss of all they have,

Great and small live and die,

Some can see and some are blind,

Those that pause to drink in beauty,

Those that see only usability

At a manmade pond near Las Gallinas is a flyby for many different migrating ducks. We were so excited to see numerous Canvasback ducks. The Canvasback duck (hereafter Canvasback) gets its common name from the light gray canvas-colored back of the male, or drake. The Canvasback has a distinctive wedge-shaped head and long graceful neck. The adult male (drake) has a black bill, a chestnut red head and neck, a black breast, a grayish back, black rump, and a blackish brown tail.
