Dacians: Empire of Gold and Silver, exhibition in the museum of Assen.
The Dacians : were the ancient Indo-European inhabitants of the cultural region of Dacia, located in the area near the Carpathian Mountains and west of the Black Sea. They are often considered a subgroup of the Thracians. This area includes mainly the present-day countries of Romania and Moldova, as well as parts of Ukraine, Eastern Serbia, Northern Bulgaria, Slovakia, Hungary and Southern Poland. The Dacians and the related Getae spoke the Dacian language, which has a debated relationship with the neighbouring Thracian language and may be a subgroup of it.Dacians were somewhat culturally influenced by the neighbouring Scythians and by the Celtic invaders of the 4th century BC
NGC 2359 (also known as Thor's Helmet) is an emission nebula in the constellation Canis Major. The nebula is approximately 11.96 thousand light years away and 30 light-years in size. The central star is the Wolf-Rayet star WR7, an extremely hot giant thought to be in a brief pre-supernova stage of evolution. It is similar in nature to the Bubble Nebula, but interactions with a nearby large molecular cloud are thought to have contributed to the more complex shape and curved bow-shock structure of Thor's Helmet.
It is also catalogued as Sharpless 2-298 and Gum 4.
The nebula has an overall bubble shape, but with complex filamentary structures. The nebula contains several hundred solar masses of ionised material, plus several thousand more of unionised gas. It is largely interstellar material swept up by winds from the central star, although some material does appear to be enriched with the products of fusion and is likely to come directly from the star. The expansion rate of different portions of the nebula varies from 10km/s to at least 30km/s, leading to age estimates of 78,500 - 236,000 years. The nebula has been studied at radio and x-ray wavelengths, but it is still unclear whether it was produced at the class O main sequence stage of development, as a red supergiant, luminous blue variable, or mainly as a Wolf-Rayet star.

Colour re-edit of a shot captured candidly in July 2017. I have no idea why a bunch of Vikings were marching up Buchanan Street. Perhaps some pillaging was on the menu. Enjoy!
Well truth be told, I don't have any fictitious figures lying around the house. I looked just about everywhere and nothing. My friend Helen is hosting the Macro Mondays group this week so I wanted to come up with something for the theme. I decided it was time to widen the search, my son Daniel happened to be home so it was time to see what he had. Well Daniel has all kinds of fictitious action figures that come as models and he assembles. Both my son's grew up in the war gaming world, my one son designs them for a living and Daniel enjoys putting them together. I chose Unicorn, a derivation of the original Gundam, a little warrior ready for battle. I'm good with that and that's the extent of my knowledge so please no questions. I will add you're looking at 1.5 inches from the tip of his helmet wing thing to the bottom of the red marking on the shield he's holding. Shot with one light off to the left and some fairy lights in the back, for my good bokeh friends, sorry no bubbles from the Voigtlander...

The Dutch army fought for 5 days in 1940. This time of the year we remember the men that died so horribly. This helmet has a hole in it but finally found a peaceful destination as a lamp.
Here are Darlene and I helmet diving a few miles off the coast of Somerset, Bermuda. The hog fish (Lachnolaimus maximus) is Charles. Hog fish are sequential hermaphrodites, meaning they change gender during their life.

Here Melissa is parked on the street in Mount Dora, Florida, adjacent to a pretty park with benches and this beautiful fountain. (That's my helmet lying on the bench.)
When I say, "The Fountain of Youth," I don't refer to the literal fountain pictured, but to my wonderful bike which has been a figurative Fountain of Youth by keeping me alive, challenged, excited, and moving to the tune of 113,782 miles so far.
