This lynx spider has pronounce spikes on its limbs which reminds me of the old horror movie Hellraiser. It was found along the Awana Jungle Trail in Genting which is part of the Titiwangsa range.

Hellraiser

There can be no doubt that times and people definitely change. As a boy, the ultimate image of terror for me was the mere shadow of the Mummy’s hand sliding along a wall, reaching for the unsuspecting young heroine. That was enough to send me scurrying under the covers.
Today’s children would laugh at such an image. Nothing short of exploding bodies and slimy entrails will serve to properly frighten them. Their current favorite novelist is Clive Barker, who was also responsible for the repulsive film “Hellraiser”.
No one can ever accuse comic books of not recognizing a bandwagon when they see one, and it was inevitable that they could jump on this one. As a result, Epic Comics has just released a 62 page anthology book which also happens to be entitled “Hellraiser”.
Most of the stories presented here are as graphically disturbing as the film – but, to my surprise – I found that I rather enjoyed them! The artwork and color throughout the book are outstanding, and the stories attempt to shy away from the predictable “surprise ending” variety that usually pass for horror in comics.
All the stories focus on the demons and mysterious puzzle box that are carry-overs from the movie. But, beyond that, they are all very different. We have the story of a medieval knight who discovers he has brought back a little piece of hell from the Holy Land; a real estate investor who will go to any lengths; and a pregnant woman driven to suicide.
I was delighted to find that the best story, set in the Old West, is not only the shortest but also the only one that contains absolutely no images of graphic violence!
But there are plenty of such images in the remaining stories, as well as nudity and sexual scenes – so this book is definitely not for small children. All others should find their appetite for horror amply satisfied.
“Hellraiser” sells for $4.95, and is available in comic book specialty stores.

This is a ride called 'Hellraiser' which shoots people around at ridiculous speeds. It was one of the rides at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta. Believe it or not there are people in amongst those light trails!
This is the original with no editing other than a small amount of curves. The version below has been modified using the Fractalius plugin. I think I prefer this version though.
Balloon shots to follow during next week once I get some more viewing time!
