It seems the Bluebirds are back! Technically they are here year round, but a pair of Eastern Bluebirds have "moved in" to the birdfeeder sitting on the corner of our patio.

There are several birdhouses in our yard, but they seem to prefer the one closest to the house, the one I have to walk past several times a day when going back and forth.

I'm sure it must annoy them that a human shows up several times a day, but maybe they tolerate me now since they've seen me putting out live mealworms?

See? I don't mind photos of me... as long as I'm not FORCED to post 'em.

So... I've got the whole damn world.

"I've really got suspicions about my neighbor."

Why?

What did he do?

"I think... I really think he's hiding something in his basement."

A basement!

Scary!

What do you think he's hiding?

"I don't know, but why would he be hiding it if it wasn't something that I should see?"

That's... an interesting view of property rights.

Oh, behind you, I-

"I mean, it could be anything! Drugs. Something valuable. A... body??"

Maybe you could ask him!

I think he's right behind-

"So I'm going to sneak into his house when he's away and find out!"

"Sneak in??

Maybe he's hiding the law codes on breaking and entering.

At any rate, he looks to be right behind-"

click!

Yikes, it just got dark!

Looking east from Montezuma Pass, about one mile north of the Mexican border on the southern end of the Huachuca Mountains. When viewed large, the border fence is clearly visible as a dark line running across the distant San Pedro valley.

This guy makes and draws cool figs, not sure if he's still active but you should follow him anyway.

Sorry folks. I don't wear ugly Christmas sweaters. You get my tree skirt instead. Merry Christmas Flickr peeps!

We were out for a walk and she was peering over the fence into the neighbor's yard. I love her colorful outfit...which she picked out herself :)

I almost did not bring my camera, but I am glad I did...I have always wanted to do a shot with the leaves flying (below).

Okay, now it's just escalating.

Yes, I'm going to break the rules. This is an old self portrait which I'm going to post in memory of my friend Peter (Santa) who died this last week. (2006)

Peter was my neighbour and friend for the 20+ years I've lived in Victoria area. I first saw him getting into his van dressed as Santa Claus in full regalia for the entire month of November. I met him when he came over a few weeks after i moved in and asked who I was and what I was doing and invited me over for a halibut feast at his house.

He was a gruff and blustery fellow, except with children, when he was a gentle giant. he took his Santa role very seriously, never having a drop of anything to drink when he was going to be on duty because he thought "the little ones" as he said, shouldn't smell liquor on Santa.

You can tell this is still early in the season because his own beard hasn't grown yet. By December he had his own beard.

In the months when he was not Santa Claus, Peter was a refigeration mechanic (what else would Santa do in his off time?!).
