Happy New Year my friends! May 2015 be a wonderful year for you all!

A frozen pond in the small town of Hell, Michigan! Yes, the town is named Hell and so when winter comes the joke is always that "Hell freezes over." A one joke town!

Halloween postcard from Hell, Michigan. Sent by a Postcrossing member in Michigan to thank me for something that I had sent to her.

Postcard from Hell, Michigan with a picture of a painting of the Devil on a motorcycle. Sent by a Postcrossing member from that area for a direct swap.

Postcard from Hell, Michigan with icicles on the sign. I remember seeing a tweet on Twitter about this in January, 2019 when this area had below zero temperatures. Sent by a Postcrosser in Michigan.

As a play on Michigan's latest marketing slogan

There's not a whole lot to Pinckney, but it's a cute little town. By this point, I can say I've been to Hell and back.

By the riverbank in Hell, MI. Such a beautiful place.

Well, that IS the name of the place...

Photographic proof that I have, in fact, been to Hell.

This sign is newer than the one I saw 12 years ago. And being written in Clearview, it looks like...well, you know...

Yes, still playing with my money :-)

I guess you could say I've been to Hell and back. On our trip to visiting friends who live near Detroit, Michigan we decided to visit Hell. Located north west of Ann Arbor, Hell reminded me a great deal of the biker destination Rabbit Hash, Kentucky. A quaint little town, Hell had a store, an ice cream parlor and a restaurant/bar. While mulling around behind the ice cream parlor I noticed the creek had a great deal or swirl action in it and decided to see if I could capture one or two of the elusive natural occurrences, to no avail. In the distance I could hear the dam and for the hell of it (pardon the pun) I decided to have a peek. I had no intention of shoot the dam but to my amazement the water flowing over the spillway was gold. I couldn't believe my eyes. I have never seen water of this color, the creek water color reminded me of the watercolor from a recent trip to West Virginia, but the spillway color is has a uniqueness all it's own. I would love to know what caused this unusual phenom.

Something I found in Hell...

Believe it or not, this was on the roof of the club shack at a Put Put golf course...

I guess that's Hell for ya, lol ]:)~

This is the sign I was standing under

Zoomed-in view of the sign. The saw marks on the posts are intriguing... I wonder if it was to make them break-away posts, or if someone attempted to get themselves some free wall art.

Beautiful country out here! And if someone tells you to go straight to hell, tell them it's not possible because the road does curve.

One of a few signboards in the area where people can get their photo taken

Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition

Need a little bit more

of what I've been missin'

I don't know where I'll be crashin'

But I'm arrivin' on a PUMPKIN wagon

Weighed about 80lbs fully loaded. Tires and rims held up great, even while trail riding. I took it all off for most of the trail riding, but had to trail ride in to camp.

Weather.com does not have a listing for Hell, Michigan. The closest town that came up on my search was Pinckney. As of 8:05 p.m. (Eastern) the temperature in Pinckney was 1 degree with a wind chill that felt like -12 degrees.

Given the close promixity of Hell to Pinckney, I do belive it IS a cold day (and night) in Hell.

Here is the Weather.com link if you'd like to check the current temperature in Pinckney and, hence, the probable current temperature in Hell:

Ok, just Hell, Michigan

A little lesson in hate and racism here.

My never-ending photo project, of capturing vanity license plates and bumper stickers on cars in and around the Metro Detroit area.

Sterling Heights, Michigan

Mom used her evil stare to keep scumming looking men away from us.

Hell rules, such a great town. Cool store. Just a tiny bit of a tourist trap, but what else would you expect of a town called Hell.

I was disappointed the dam site restaurant was closed so I could do my best 300 impression "Tonight we dine in Hell!"

and a couple of clips from the weekend.

This was in May 2005. Mom and I had just gotten our first Harleys and were eager to attend a bike event. It was about 40 degrees outside and we only had our little QVC jackets on. It was quite cold.
