On our way to Victoria we stopped and took a trip down to Hell's Gates

Hanging out in Hell, early on in the EOTW bash (that, as far as I know, ended up with at least 180 people milling around).

Hell Roaring Lake is nestled among thick trees at 7,407 feet, where the canyon branches into distinct alpine basins. The Finger of Fate, an elegant tower of solid granite, stands as a sentinel above the north shore of the lake. Long fins of glacially-polished slabs descend from the Imogene basin to the south shore of the lake. The hike from the lower trailhead offers nice creekside camping for a shorter trip. Hell Roaring Lake is an alpine lake in Custer County, Idaho, United States, located in the Sawtooth Mountains in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. The lake is approximately 13.3 miles (21.4 km) southwest of Stanley. The lake can be accessed from State Highway 75 in the Sawtooth Valley.

The foul smelling steam and other-worldly landscape give Bumpass Hell a charm all of its own.

Castle Hot Springs is situated in the bottom of Hell's Canyon. There are rugged walls which are decked in the green of Spring.

A spectacular visit to Hell's Gate Airtram.

A view of the Bumpass Hell geothermal area from the trail leading down to it. This is the most well known of the park's geothermal features. In fact, it is the largest geothermal area in the US outside of Yellowstone.

It is named after Kendall Vanhook Bumpass, an explorer who lived in the area in the 1860's. One day, he was showing some people the area when his leg fell through the muddy crust covering a mud pot, severely burning his leg. The hell part of the name should be obvious.
