The amazing Northton Saltings are a unique formation of little grassy islets situated near the small village of Northton on the Isle of Harris.

Thank you for visiting and for all of your kind comments, awards and faves - I appreciate them all.

Sunrise with low clouds during the ferry crossing between Uig / Isle of Skye and Tarbert / Lewis and Harris.
The Callanish Stones are an arrangement of standing stones placed in a cruciform pattern with a central stone circle. They were erected in the late Neolithic era, and were a focus for ritual activity during the Bronze Age. They are near the village of Callanish (Gaelic: Calanais) on the west coast of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland.

On return from Lewis and Harris I stopped off for a sunrise at Quirang, Skye. An epic and over photographed location but stunning none the less. Light was delayed by approx. 30 mons due to a band of cloud on the mainland so there was a slightly whiter tone than I had hoped for. Although, it was very calm with virtually no ground wind, so the desired early autumn action packed atmospheric shot was not to be on this occasion but it doesn't stop this location taking your breath away. truly one of the must be shot for any landscape photographer no matter the clichè factor.
As we're in Lockdown v2.0, this is from pre-plague times.
Shot on the Isle of Lewis but I can't remember where - possibly Port of Ness.
Auf dieser Reise habe ich auch fotografiert mit meiner kleinen Fujifilm X100F in Jpeg und war sehr erstaunt ueber die Resultate. Also darum auch noch diese Serie.

Not the pirate ship the "Black Pig", although there is a strong resemblance to the one belonging to TV's wicked Captain Pugwash. It's actually one of the vessels involved in the Tall Ships Race, spotted crossing the Sound of Mull
View west from North Uist towards Haskeir Island. Long sunny days on the Outer Hebrides are just the best.
One can be rewarded with beautiful scenery such as this between Isle of Skye and Ullapool, Scotland. One might even be able to witness stags rucking in the valley as we did, what a tremendous experience that was.
The Hebrides
Can’t believe it was 5 years (2012) when we went here. Have five lots of items to post. This is the second. A very beautiful place to visit with the weather on your side, could imagine it to be very bleak.
We're leaving the Hebrides on the 7.30 sailing from Lochmaddy tomorrow, and we'll be driving through Skye, the west coast of Scotland to the Lakes. It's been a brilliant two weeks with amazing sunny days , and wonderful breathless skies. I don't often show a shot of just sky, but I think these skies are worth it. The Outer Hebrides - also known as the Western Isles - are a 130-mile long island chain on the northwestern fringe of the UK. The main islands are Lewis and Harris, North and South Uist, Benbecula and Barra, but there are also scores of smaller islands. Nearly all offer superb walking in an unrivalled setting.
Magnificent beaches with perfect white sand, usually deserted, stretch for mile upon mile on their western coastlines. The islands also offer a unique culture, being the stronghold of the Gaelic language, and superb wildlife. Harris has a range of unfrequented but spectacular mountains whilst Lewis, South Uist, and to a lesser extent some of the other islands, all offer fine hillwalking. Yet another attraction are the archaelogical remains found throughout the islands - a treasure trove of prehistory.

Lyskentyre, Harris, Outer Hebrides
The shallow waters at the beach had the most amazing colours once the sun made a short appearance. But alas, it was far too cold (around 10 degrees in June) to give in to the urge to jump in.
