Taken at the Midwest Regional Tow Show sponsored by the Towing and Recovery Association of Ohio and held annually at the Great Wolf Lodge in Mason, Ohio just North of Cincinnati.
I first saw this truck some 2 years before I took this shot. Since then and after this, I've seen Tom at several truck shows and have gotten to know him a little. He owns his own towing business and has a very large collection of some 40 or so historic trucks, most of which look pretty rough. When I visited his farm several years ago, he had two other military tow trucks similar to this one and several trucks in among the weeds and bushes around the edge of his field and just about every other place on his property. I've also learned he is a very good mechanic. Although this show is probably at least 20 miles from his home, I feel confident that he got it running and drove it to the show. The first time I saw it, I knew it ran, but thought he probably trailed it to that show which is further away than this one is. Not so. He usually brings at least one truck to this annual show and it often is a new addition to his tow truck collection. Unfortunately, this show has gotten away from historic tow trucks, so they don't show up in the numbers they used to.
Tom just can't seem to see old trucks get junked, so he keep adding to his collection, but is busy and old enough that I doubt any will be be restored. Still, he resists selling any.
You can see more of his collection here:

Englewood's home location is out of Clayton, Ohio and they have 4 other locations. They service the greater Dayton, Cincinnati and SW Ohio area and provide mobile truck repairs on the 4 major Interstate Highways in the area. They must have a pretty large fleet of trucks. I love the color and tasteful paint scheme of their trucks.

The truck is equipped by Custom Built out of Kane Pennsylvania. The delivered the new truck to Milford Towing at the show. The boom and wheel lift of their design seen in this shot is unique to my limited knowledge. The wheel lift is attached to the boom while all others I've noticed are separate. I would think this would add weight to the boom when it is lifting. I don't know the physics, but personally, I don't think I'd want any extra weight on the boom during a lift, but I guess they know what they are doing and I was told they are able to make them cheaper this way. These trucks are very expensive, so saving a little money may well be desirable.
