I saw "Opfer einer großen Liebe" (Dark Victory) this evening. I have a DVD with a restaurated version - which heightens the enjoyment extremly. I nevr saw that film before - and it really got me.

This is one of the saddest storys - and it's a shame that it got forgotten in comparison with Land Of Oz and Gone With The Wind which were produced in the same year: 1939.

The story of the movie is still breathtaking and hearttouching as it was 70 years before: A young woman (incredible acting Bette Davis) has brain-cancer. She gets operated - but can't be really saved. It's a story about love and death, about life and mistrust - about relationships and anger against the nature - about survival and a big heroine.

The movie actually got me to tears - but you know that you're realy into 365 if that's the moment where you grab the camera and find yourself crying and thinking about the right angle at the same time.

If you can - watch this movie. It brings you closer to what the whole life is about - and how people react. And I couldn't help but think that the whole 90s and the following hypes were just a reaction onto the recurring old knowledge that we all are mortal. - And that's the special thing about this movie: It doesn't matter how old it is - you can understand this woman. Her fear, her hope - and you can admire her will.
