for your Heartburn OK not funny. I made a ice mold heart - added red food colouring - once frozen put in small container and again filled with water to make a stand of sorts. Some reason I got this thick round part within ice?? I used lighter fluid to pour over heart to set icy heart on fire. This is my version of "Heart on Fire" for Smile on Saturday. Have a super wknd and Happy Valetnine to all.

#56 - 100 x challenge - Lensbaby

Macro Monday - Pick two - I chose pottery and curves.

This is a tiny coffee cup and saucer from a set I bought from a charity shop some time ago. In the saucer are some little petals that came about by accident. One night I took some Gaviscon (a pink liquid to ease heartburn) and must have spilt a drop on the worktop. When I came down the next morning there was a pretty pink dried Gaviscon petal. I instantly thought how nice that might look in a photo so made some more.

I used my Lensbaby Sweet 35 and macro converter. I find it incredibly hard to get perfect focus with this lens but like the soft focus and blur from the Sweet so will embrace the blur...a term I love and have borrowed from Flickr friend Andrew www.flickr.com/photos/ajhaysom/ HMM

I've had stabbing, biting heartburn for... ohh, the last 12 hours.

It is not awesome.

And so I give you this image, which simulates the giant sucking vampire maw that has leeched onto my esophageal lining.

Ow, ow, ow.

Don't judge me, all of this comes along with an unsurpassable amount of gas, heartburn and a VERY satisfied baby.

This is one of Gerard Manley Hopkins’s so-called ‘Terrible Sonnets’, composed in the 1880s while he was living in Ireland and plunged in depression.

The poem beautifully captures Hopkins’s trademark ‘eloquent inarticulacy’ and is one of the most powerful descriptions of a sleepless night in all of English poetry..

.......

I wake and feel the fell of dark, not day.

What hours, O what black hours we have spent

This night! what sights you, heart, saw; ways you went!

And more must, in yet longer light’s delay.

With witness I speak this. But where I say

Hours I mean years, mean life. And my lament

Is cries countless, cries like dead letters sent

To dearest him that lives alas! away.

I am gall, I am heartburn. God’s most deep decree

Bitter would have me taste: my taste was me;

Bones built in me, flesh filled, blood brimmed the curse.

Selfyeast of spirit a dull dough sours. I see

The lost are like this, and their scourge to be

As I am mine, their sweating selves; but worse.

The wonder of a Banana

A professor at CCNY for a physiological psych class told his class about bananas. He said the expression "going bananas" is from the effects of bananas on the brain.

Read on:

Never, put your banana in the refrigerator!

This is interesting.

After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fibre. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.

Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anaemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of haemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anaemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure, so much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school ( England ) were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: High in fibre, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers: One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates

your system.

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves: Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.

Smoking &Tobacco Use: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes: According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%!

Warts: Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!

So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, "A banana a day keeps the doctor away

Time for in between. First popcorn, then wine gum. The honey candy is there to drive away the subsequent heartburn.

Radiation still going pretty well. I'm now starting to feel the fatigue-ness. And the Radiation is irritating my esophagus, making it feel like I have constant heartburn. Dr. Russo prescribed me medication to start taking. Other than that, I am good.

Once a year, as many may be familiar, the Cherry Blossoms in DC bloom in full, providing for amazing scenes across the nation's capital. On a blustery and cold spring morning, CSX Q409 rolls south over the tidal basin, crossing onto the long bridge into Virginia. As this scene is available once a year, and sometimes only for a few days, you take what you can get for weather. But the trees this year were much fuller, allowing for a full framing with the blossoms which was nice. I'll take matte grey skies over the puffy clouds and intermittent sun that rolled in not longer after this photo was taken. As many of us know all too well, those shadow clouds have a fun tendency to cause heartburn as your train gets closer. Here's to hoping we'll get some sunnier skies in April, but when you have a scene for only a few days, it's nice to take advantage no matter the weather.

does heartburns stay for 5 days ? it kills !!!!!!!

A very tasty vegetable but also the leaf, stem, and root are used to make “extracts” which contain a high concentration of certain chemicals found in the plant. These extracts are used as medicine.

Artichoke is thought to help reduce the symptoms of heartburn and alcohol hangover. It's also used to treat high cholesterol, kidney problems, anaemia, fluid retention (oedema), arthritis, bladder infections, and liver problems.

Some people use artichoke for treating snakebites, preventing gallstones, lowering blood pressure, lowering blood sugar; or as a tonic. So good in fact, that every gardener should probably grow some !!

Replaced bellows on the Wista 45N field camera. The original didn't leak but looked like it was ready to turn to dust at any moment. I thought replacement was the better part of valor.

If you are interested in doing it, let me know. I can give you a few pointers and save you some heartburn.

Project No 2 was... less successful. More on that next.

After Union Pacific ate up the Chicago and North Western in 1995, it set its eyes on the Southern Pacific the next year.

The SP, however, gave the UP (in the turn the rest of the rail industry), a case of severe heartburn. It bit off way too much and traffic started stacking up everywhere.

A severe lack of crews cascaded into near meltdown conditions for the new super railroad.

An eastbound intermodal bound for Chicago found itself tied down in Watkins, Iowa trying and failing to get across the Clinton Subdivision. Clinton was all gummed up, which caused trains to be held all the way across Iowa awaiting free space to Chicago.

It serves UP right, the greedy bastards.

People use the juniper berry to make medicine. Juniper is used for digestion problems including upset stomach, intestinal gas (flatulence), heartburn, bloating, and loss of appetite, as well as gastrointestinal (GI) infections and intestinal worms. It is also used for urinary tract infections (UTIs) and kidney and bladder stones. Other uses include treating snakebite, diabetes, and cancer.

Corn Dog: hotdog on a stick, dipped in corn bread batter, and deep fried. Another trip down heartburn lane for me. If it was made with a Hebrew National hotdog, maybe. To be honest though, I took the photo because this just looked wrong to me, lolol.

When I took my grandfather to the transit museum, he spent a lot of time explaining how rivets hold the Brooklyn Bridge and the train station poles together. Eventually, everything around rivets required repair, but they are strong enough to hold the structure together. Something like the human body, but as long as we keep the soul going, no time can erase our rivets if we focus on what’s truly vital rather than trivial.
