Preening is a bird health and beauty treatment..........

Preening is a bird's way of grooming its feathers to keep them in the best condition. While preening, birds will remove dust, dirt and parasites from their feathers and align each feather in the optimum position relative to adjacent feathers and body shape. Most birds will preen several times a day to keep themselves healthy.

Broccoli Portrait

A dramatic close-up of fresh broccoli, lit to reveal its textures and vibrant green color. Playing with contrast and shadows to celebrate the cute vegetable in a classic still-life style.

Shot with strong directional light against a black background for a moody, minimalist look.

The final step before serving! 🔥

Giving these green beauties a gentle boil to get them tender and tasty. Love seeing the whole journey from fresh to cooked in the kitchen.

nice. Those who are walkin' in the sea full of Goemon seaweed keeps them healthy!:)

From whole to washed to chopped! ✨

This fresh broccoli is prepped and ready for cooking. Love seeing each little stage come together in the kitchen.

After its little portrait session yesterday, this broccoli’s getting ready for the real work! 💦

A good rinse to keep it fresh and clean before cooking. Love catching these everyday kitchen moments.

The evolving Health Axioms v2 deck... Draft card for "Avoid Sunburn".

Children swinging while their mothers attend a nutritional education session in Quiché, Guatemala, Under a Food for Peace Program, the educational sessions on nutrition and healthy habits to mothers and fathers are extremely important. Children usually accompany their mothers and find entertainment while they wait. One of the most important areas of a food security program is the behavior change component. In order to get the mothers trained (in this specific case) on nutritional and health practices to improve their family’s nutrition, therefore breaking the poverty cycle.

Child Health - Healthy kids are better equipped to face school days challenges.

Did you know 50 -80% of school children have health concerns?

Why is it that children are more prone to infections?

It is primarily because their immune system is not fully developed as in adults.

Secondly, frequent exposure to germs and at times access to street/unhygienic food increase their susceptibility to infections.

What are the common health concerns faced by school children?

The most common conditions are:

Cough & cold

Nutritional deficiencies

Head lice

Worms in the stomach

Childhood obesity

Skin infections

Vision related issues

Dental problems

Do you know, most of the above conditions are preventable?

Wondering how you, as a parent can help protect your kids’ health?

1. The first step to prevention - Vaccination

Make sure your child’s vaccines are up to date with National Immunization Schedule

2. Regular annual checkups

WHO recommends that children be screened for

Height & weight

Tooth decay

Refractive errors

Hearing disturbances

3. Practice good hygiene

Teach them to

wash their hands, especially before and after meals, after using the toilet and after blowing their nose

avoid sharing food and drinks when they are sick

cover nose and mouth while coughing or sneezing

be careful with the use of personal items such as combs, hats and scarves. It is best to avoid sharing such items.

4. Deworming

Deworming either annually or biannually helps in better absorption of nutrients, thus preventing several avoidable illnesses. Consult your physician for the same.

Hi Abbie and Kids!

March is time for moving! I know that Abbie walks with HER mom.

What do you do to get exercise with your family?

Maybe you can help your family get active by MARCHING with your parents or grandparents! =) You can march in your family room, march in your basement, march in your neighborhood or march at the beach. How FUN.

You can even march with your younger brothers and sisters. Ask your Mom or Dad to let you listen to this music, "The Ants Go Marching". www.totlol.com/watch/nZInmx5Z_j0/The-Ants-Go-Marching/0/

Whatever you do, I hope you parents or grandparents will take a photo of you MARCHING together in March and post it at Flickr and send it to me to share!

Whatever you do to get moving with your family, MAKE HAPPY MEMORIES by having fun and laughing a lot together.

Happy KIDS Time for Health!

[Dedicated to Abbie and family . . . hugs.]

As a weight loss expert, I have seen many people struggle with their weight loss journey because they set unrealistic goals for themselves. It is important to remember that losing weight is a gradual process that requires patience and persistence. Setting unrealistic goals can lead to disappointment and frustration, and ultimately sabotage your weight loss efforts. Maybe you also find The ultimate guide to losing weight fast interesting.

Understand your body's limitations and capabilitie

The first step in setting realistic goals is to understand your body's limitations and capabilities. Your body is unique and has its own set of limitations. You cannot expect to lose a significant amount of weight overnight or in a short period of time. A safe and healthy rate of weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. So, if you want to lose 20 pounds, it may take you around 10-20 weeks.

Be specific about your weight loss goals

The second step is to be specific about your weight loss goals. Instead of setting vague goals such as "I want to lose weight," be more specific about how much weight you want to lose and by when. For example, "I want to lose 10 pounds in the next 8 weeks."

Break down your goals into smaller, achievable milestone

The third step is to break down your goals into smaller, achievable milestones. For example, if your goal is to lose 10 pounds in 8 weeks, you could break it down into smaller milestones such as losing 1-2 pounds per week.
