Sunny Day in the City. Great Day for a HeadsUp Urban Eco-Adventure at Evergreen Brickworks in Toronto. Evergreen Brick Works is a community environmental centre that inspires and equips visitors to live, work and play more sustainably.
Free and open to everyone, Don Valley Brick Works Park is the back garden to the revitalized industrial pad that is now Evergreen Brick Works.
Spend an afternoon walking along the boardwalks and you’re likely to spot a turtle sunning on a log and fish swimming in the ponds. Look for a great blue heron in the reeds, a family of ducks paddling along and songbirds too. Follow the meandering paths up the North Slope and you’ll be rewarded with an unmatched view of the Toronto skyline. All this in heart of the city, easily accessible by bike or by foot from the Beltline Trail.

Annoyingly the foreground of this location is now ruined by a newly constructed jetty and associated walkway making the photo a crop rather than wide shot.

Today we walked an hour-or-so in East Sooke Park. This time, we started at the Alyard Farm trailhead and walked the Coast Trail to the petroglyphs. Cool. SharBen and the kids did it yesterday so thanks to Bentley for the headsup on this beautiful and interesting walk.
Heermann's Gull (Larus heermanni)
"The Heermann's Gull (Larus heermanni) is a gull resident in the United States and Mexico. Of the current population of about 150,000 pairs, 90% nest on the island of Isla Rasa off Baja California in the Gulf of California, with smaller colonies as far north as California and as far south as Nayarit. After breeding, birds commonly disperse to central California, and less commonly north as far as British Columbia and south as far as Guatemala. This was taken at Corpus Christi Aquarium. They have 2 bottle-nosed dolphins named Shadow and Kai who put on this cool show for the Tourists. Jumping , Splashing , making noise..
