so bietet sie der Sonne weniger Angriffsfläche und überhitzt nicht.
In the headstand, the sun has less attack surface and the dragonfly does not overheat.

If you turn the monitor or just do a headstand now,
some things in the picture will make more sense :-))

with some sunsets, everything feels a little unreal ...
This winter break I was also in Los Angeles, visiting family. Here you can see my talented sister showing off her yoga skills with a beautiful backdrop of the beach at sunset, on Christmas Day. While it wasn't exactly warm for a beach day, it's still special to me to go to the beach in December for a pleasant walk in a light jacket, compared to what it's like in the east at this time of year.

This was during the Perfume Genius set at Pitchfork Music Festival (photo from Thursday). It's fun to find old crowd photos.

Nach unserer Pause ging es in den Gärten von Lismore Castle wieder weiter.
BÄRBEL “Luis, was machst du denn da ?”
LUIS: “Sieht man das nicht ?”
BÄRBEL: “Wird das etwa ein Kopfstand ?”
LUIS: “Nein, ich mache einen Purzelbaum ! Möchtest du auch probieren ?”
Fortsetzung folgt …
Vielen Dank Rudi für Dein Foto !!

After our break, we continued on to the gardens of Lismore Castle.
BÄRBEL: ‘Luis, what are you doing ?’
LUIS: ‘Can't you see ?’
BÄRBEL: ‘Are you doing a headstand ?’
LUIS: ‘No, I'm doing a somersault ! Would you like to try it too ?’
To be continued ...
Many thanks Rudi for your photo !!
A few weeks ago I was saying that, even if a Flame Skimmer and a Cardinal Meadowhawk were not on the same branch so that you could compare size or color, a surefire ID could be made by a Cardinal Meadowhawk's perching behavior. The Cardinal invariably will initially perch with it's tail pointed skyward and almost always choose a spot at the very top of a piece of grass or a break in a twig.
It's true that most odonates will perch in the early morning hours where they can get the most sun, but the Cardinal Meadowhawk carries it to extremes. I'd love to say that I looked for hours to find one in the dragonfly's rendition of a hand or headstand, but I know that their favorite perch locally is the horsetail grass and I'll see these acrobatics at least once a week. The Flame Skimmer is too heavy to pose this way. If you see this, and it's red beyond belief, and about 3/4 of an inch long, it's a Cardinal Meadowhawk. The trick is to get him backlit and on a horsetail grass slightly bent against a black background.
Normally I try not to photograph people who haven't explicitly consented beforehand, but this was a too perfect moment and I had to ...
When I arrived at Padley and it was super busy I was a little down hearted. I like the solitude of landscape photography so I had to explore a little to evade the masses.
This worked in my favour as I've never laid eyes on some of the comps I found so all good.

Until, I saw this frame in a sequence of shots that I took of this calf laying down, I never realized that their hind legs come completely off the ground when they lay down.
Looks like it was trying to do a "headstand"!
I have several frames of the mom doing it the same way.
I guess it always happened so quick, that I never paid any attention to it.
Kind of a neat balancing act.
I have been lucky enough to photograph 6 different cow moose with calves this spring.
Two cows had a single calf.
Three cows had twins and the other cow had triplets.
I photographed a cow with one calf this morning.

I will do a headstand there at the edge, she said, and she did. Then she bowed gracefully to “Well done.” No cliché in her attitude. Just living fully in the moment.
I posted this a while back then deleted it because i thought it a little inappropriate.
Now i haven't uploaded in a while and this reflects my mood so i thought i'd put a re-edited version up.
This is a single frame and only the tones have been changed in photoshop.
