Anyone still awake out there?

It's been a while, but here's something new. Taken a couple of weeks ago in the bluebell woods up at Wenallt where it seemed summer had arrived with a bang. This is the result of an afternoon experimenting with putting a slight twist on that woodland technique favourite, panning. All in camera (bar extracting the raw file in ps) with a single exposure.

As soon as I watched the original video of this pack (to watch the original, click on the link below), my memories go back to the 80s! Just as Lady Gaga represents the pop power of our time, I couldn't help rescuing a Madonna classic with this dance pack full of striking, realistic and very well-developed movements throughout the choreography. I just LOVED making this video with our Queen of Pop as a reference. Thanks Sync, it's fantastic! ♥

Watchman Lake, Ahuriri, Napier, New Zealand

Another pleasant evening spent on the shore of Watchman Lake the other night. Just after the sun had dipped below the horizon, and before the sky turned to fire, I shot this 90 sec long exposure, which had the effect of showing the moving clouds, and hiding the (estimated) 150 swans that were hanging around in front of us.

BTW all my images are for sale, just drop me a line for a quote.

"Oh well I look at you and say it’s the happiest that I’ve ever been, and I’ll say I no longer feel I have to be James Dean" - Noah and the Whales, Five Years Time

This is my new alltime favourite song!! My mum showed it to me, she said that when Aaron was here with us it was on ALL the time and it reminds her of me and him. My mum has awesome music taste!!

So today was pretty freakin' awesome! Aaron rang me for an hour before he went to work this morning, and then my half sister came to pick me up for my bridesmaid's dress fitting (she's getting married in about two weeks!!). I only got home an hour ago, and now I have to fly off to work because my boss is leaving and I got her a present! So today is a mad rush, but an awesome fun happy one!!

On the university front, things are looking great!! So many people have helped me out, honestly guys I don't know where I'd be without you. The uni that's caught my eye is the SVA in New York - me and Aaron would both move there, so its a perfect place for him to start his business and the course seems pretty much perfect for me - AND there is no required maths!! All that is left is to check out the finances and really dig deep into the uni to see if its what I want, but other than that, everything is AWESOME! the sun is shining and I am HAPPY!

This morning I got up early at about 4:30 a.m. as I frequently do and headed out to shoot the City. My favorite times to shoot are at night and then in the beautiful light of sunrise and sunset. There's something about the blues that you can find in the skies as the sun welcomes a new day and in a window of about 10 minutes or so you have a magical moment to make pictures.

And this is something that I love doing. Running around the City when everyone else is still sleeping or just getting up and trying to capture this beauty to share with the rest of the world.

Which brings me to Kathy Sierra, who is in my thoughts this morning along with a heck of a lot of other people. I don't know Kathy personally, but I can feel for what she is going through right now. Kathy is a blogger who has been harassed to an extreme level over the course of the past few months. This harassment has included death threats and some of the most vile and offensive sexual slurs that you can imagine. And it's horrible that someone would have to go through that for blogging.

Kathy canceled a speaking engagement she was supposed to be at today because after the harassment she has endured she's afraid to go out of her house.

My friend Robert Scoble is taking the week off of blogging to show his support for Kathy and what she is going through. I thought I'd dedicate this photograph that I took this morning to Kathy as well. I dedicate this photo to Kathy because when I took it I had a sense of freedom that all human beings deserve. I did not worry when I left my home in the dark this morning that someone would try to kill me today. I did not worry when I was running around Nob Hill in the dark. And it's this sense of freedom that Kathy should be able to have as well. That everyone should be able to have. A sense of freedom to travel freely in a free country and experience life. That's what Kathy should have right now and instead she has terror and fear because some inconsiderate jerk decided that he would torment her.

I hope they catch the guy whose idea of sport is to threaten this woman. The person who would show such disrespect to another human being and ruin Kathy's sense of freedom.

That's not something that anyone should have to live through. And Kathy add this note of support and this photograph to a growing chorus of people that hate the victimization that you've had to endure.

I hate censorship. I've long pushed to allow as open as speech as possible -- especially on the internet. But death threats take things too far and this story about Kathy's plight upsets me this morning.

A little space-out effects video. Sometimes our minds end up going to the Moon and reality distorts around us.

Vertigo Vic, the dizzy squirrel sez:

"Lemme see...Dee's squirrels have cats and dogs and even giant ducks for company.

Me? I'm all by my lonesome! And eating nuts this way gives me such a headrush that everything gets blurred (check out this photo's fuzzy background over there to see what I'm talking about).

So that's it! 'nuff of all this unrecognized and unnoticed feats of derring-do and squirrelly-agility. I'm gonna audition for Cirque du Soleil right now...or as soon as I figure out how to get upright without tumbling down.

Ya think this is easy??? Geez!!!"

Deutsches Museum, Munich, Germany

Different spiral staircase, different place this time. This is the spiral staircase inside the massive Deutsches Museum in Munich. Very similar to the Science Museum here in London but much much bigger. If you wanted to go around all of it, it would certainly take you most of the day. I really enjoyed my visit here.

Whilst I was here I had to get a photo of this staircase, very interesting curves and contrasting colours. I think I liked it in colour but preferred it in its B&W form as you see here. Ideally I wanted to take an image looking up too but sadly there was something in the centre of the staircase where you would normally take the image from, ah well but I am very happy with this image though.

"Did you see the stylish kids in the riot

We were shovelled up like muck

Set the night on fire

Wombles bleed truncheons and shields

You know I cherish you my love

But there's a rumour spread nasty disease around town

Caught round the houses with your trousers down

A headrush in the bush

You know I cherish you my love

Oh how i cherish you my love

Tell me what can you want now you've got it all

The whole scene is obscene

Time will strip it away

A year and a day

And Bill Bones

Bill Bones knows what I mean

He knows it's eating, it's chewing me up

It's not right for young lungs to be coughing up blood

Oh it's all

It's all in my hands

And its all up the walls

Well the stale chips are up and the hopes stakes are down

Its these ignorant faces that bring this town down

Yeah I sighed and sunken with pride

I passed myself down on my knees

Yes I passed myself down on my knees

Now tell me what can you want now you've got it all

The whole scene is obscene

Time will strip it away

A year and a day

And Bill Bones

Bill Bones knows what I mean

There are fewer more distressing sights than that

Of an Englishman in a baseball cap

Yeah we'll die in the class we were born

That's a class of our own my love

A class of our own my love

Did you see the stylish kids in the riot

We were shovelled up like muck

Then set the night on fire

Wombles bleed truncheons and shields

You know I cherish you my love

Oh how I cherish you my love".

While I was out looking for fall color this morning I found something more important, Pink! This window display is located at a local salon called Headrush.

This Friday, more than 800 bras will be strung across the Kansas River bridge (Bras Across The Kaw) to honor those who have lost the battle, hope and strength for those still fighting and encourage early detection for those who may not know they have the disease. This is dedicated to my mother-in-law Linda who lost one breast in the in 1991 and survives today.

Wow! The last two businesses to operate here never bothered to remove the 7-Eleven logo off the front door handles, I'm guessing because doing so would be difficult and not worth the effort. I was stoked to see the logos still in place!
