I was enjoying a group of bighorn sheep in BC's Radium Hot Springs. This old ram kept an eye on me as I kept my eye on him. After a bit he let me know what he thought of that. How rude....
Radium holds an annual 2-day Headbanger Festival in November when the sparring begins. One can hear them slamming their heads together for miles around. Hope to check that out some year.
Thanks for taking a look! Always appreciated.
Enjoy a wonderful weekend!
The Downy Woodpecker is the smallest North American woodpecker. Captured on a hiking trail near Windsor, Ontario
This bighorn ram seems to be posing like the statue behind him. Taken in downtown Radium Hot Spring BC, where they are entertaining local residents. There is a herd of approximately 150 that call Radium home.

Gotta check that out.
Thank you for taking a look. Always appreciated.
A pair of nesting Great Spotted Woodpeckers relaying to and throw to their nest with food for the little headbangers. I have purposely left the location out due to the nest being accessible and in full view of the public eye, I hope you understand this.
The Original Headbanger
Pileated Woodpecker - Male
Caught another opportunity to take some photos of this woodpecker. He apparently found a tree he really liked because unlike the previous encounter, he spent a good 20 minutes pounding away at this dead tree. Managed some nice debris shots like this one.

Believe it or not, this is a self-portrait. I hope you like my new headwear. Special thanks to [https://www.flickr.com/photos/moodyduck] for proposing this title 🙋♂️

Great Spotted Woodpecker! The Noise was wonderful, I think it's a female as didn't see any red behind the head!
Frohe Ostern & gute Erholung 💯!
I can't resist loud music
I could hear it until I drop
I've got scruffy jeans and bikers boots
and my hair is like a mop
Headbanger
Say that I'm a drop out
the fact is that you're right
I'd love to watch my ears drop off
Cause I'm headbanging all night
(i'd never heard of that song either but my spam wants me to have it as a ringtone....first of the lighting ideas from you lot :)

Basically an art trade I did with suburbian_headbanger and this is her character Jason. Sadly it did not come out as well as I had hope. Please forgive me if it sucks.

Willy Cordoba. Old school Flatland BMX rider. Was a pleasure to meet him, a very humble man and a headbanger as myself.
I was walking around neighborhood just watching people, waiting for inspiration to come and found him doing his thing among skaters, immediately grab my attention; just asked him for a couple of shots and the guy was delighted by the idea, this portrait was not in the plans but I'll let you see the outtakes of some neat tricks he can pull.
I be the headbanger with the double-edge razor
The breathtaker, dragon slayer slash savior
Assassinator, flame thrower, fascinator
My dagger blade cascade in Castlevania
Captivator, spectator, activator
Palladium's packed, they pay me stacks of paper
Aggravated assault, halt the batch of strangers
The strangler, long ranger, the devil devastator
Educated rebel with the heavy metal flavor
Levels is elevated to decibels of danger
Volts from that generator blow the detonator
Decimate the place unless the radio's a crater
I came up to the greater entertainer
A blade thrower mangled with the energy of anger
Celebrate the main knot, I mutilate later
And play a naysayer like a amplified bass player

A Little Grebe, heading underwater.
The Little Grebe (Tachybaptus ruficollis), also known as the "dabchick," is the smallest member of the grebe family. This dumpy, brown waterbird is an excellent diver and swimmer, though clumsy on land.
Physical characteristics
Size and weight: It measures 25–29 cm long and weighs around 100–140 grams.
Appearance: Little Grebes are mostly dark brown, with a "fluffy" rear end and a black beak. During the breeding season, they develop a rich, chestnut-coloured throat and cheeks, along with a bright, pale-yellow patch at the gape (the base of the bill).
Non-breeding plumage: In winter, their plumage becomes paler and more grey-brown, and the chestnut colour fades.
Juveniles: Younger birds have a yellow bill with a black tip and distinct black and white stripes on their face and neck.
Habitat and distribution
Habitat: Little Grebes prefer quiet, freshwater habitats with plenty of vegetation for cover, such as lakes, ponds, canals, and slow-moving rivers.
Range: This species is widespread across Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Migration: In parts of its range where waters freeze in winter, the bird may migrate to more open, coastal, or brackish waters. In the UK, the population swells during winter as migrants arrive from the continent.
Diet
Primary food: The Little Grebe's diet consists mainly of small aquatic invertebrates, including insects, crustaceans, and molluscs.
Additional food sources: It also preys on small fish, tadpoles, and amphibians.
Hunting style: It hunts by diving underwater, propelled by its powerful feet located far back on its body. The bird will stay submerged for up to 30 seconds.
Behavior
Shy and elusive: Little Grebes are typically shy and often stay hidden among shoreline vegetation. If disturbed, they readily dive under the water and may resurface a considerable distance away.
Vocalisations: Despite their shy nature, they can be quite vocal, with their most distinctive call being a loud, whinnying trill.
Courtship: Pairs are monogamous and perform elaborate courtship displays that include synchronized swimming and offering water weeds to one another.
Breeding and nesting
Nest: The Little Grebe builds a floating nest platform made of aquatic plants, which is anchored to surrounding vegetation. When leaving the nest, an incubating bird will often cover the eggs with weeds to hide them from predators.
Chicks: Both parents share the incubation duties for 20–25 days. The semi-precocial chicks can swim and dive soon after hatching and are often seen riding on their parents' backs for warmth and safety.
