North Greenwich is a 19th century name for the southern tip of the Isle of Dogs, located in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It was named for the now defunct North Greenwich railway station (1872), that served a former passenger ferry to Greenwich and stood near the later Island Gardens (1897) and Greenwich foot tunnel (1902) [1]. It faces Greenwich over the River Thames and the area is now more usually known as South Millwall.

It should not be confused with the northern part of the Greenwich peninsula in South London, formerly known as East Greenwich that lies south of the river and is the site of the The O2 (formerly the Millennium Dome). The opening in 1999 of the North Greenwich tube station on London Underground's Jubilee Line has now led to this area being known colloquially as North Greenwich.

Seen and captured in the famous cafe Felix in Zurich. Definitely a place to go ... not just because of the delicious coffee and sweets, however, also due to the "slightly exaggerated" rococo like interior :-)

Who doesn't love a beautiful, rusty, old truck?!? (And from what I can tell, the outside is the only thing that is old or rusty about this one...under the hood looks strong!)

The Dodson House, built in 1894, is significant for its association with persons who played important roles in both the social & economic development of the small West Tennessee town of Humboldt. The house is an excellent example of Queen Anne architecture and is located in the older residential neighborhood of the town.

W.H. Dodson, a Humboldt banker, organized and established the Haywood County Bank in Brownsville, Tennessee in 1889. His son, William, was duly elected assistant cashier of the financial institution. William remained with the bank until the fall of 1892 when he moved to Humboldt and established a real estate company. In February 1893, William Dodson purchased a town lot from W.N. Bennett for the amount of eight hundred dollars. Early in 1894, he began to oversee the construction of this Queen Anne style residence which was completed by that fall.

After William Dodson's death in 1904, his son George moved from Knoxville to Humboldt and practiced law in Humboldt for four years before purchasing the Ford automobile dealership. In 1931 William Hooper, grandson of William Dodson, moved into the family home after graduation from Vanderbilt University. He soon became associated with Dodson Ford dealership and in 1950 he purchased all rights to the dealership. Mr. Hooper was active in community affairs and served on the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival Board, and the Ford Dealer Council Board (Memphis District).

Architecturally, the Dodson House is a good example of the Queen Anne style residence. Although the interior of the house was altered by the Hooper family, much of the original fabric was retained. The present owners, who purchased the house in 1980, are restoring the interior and plans have been developed for the restoration of the exterior. For these reasons, this house was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 25, 1982. All of the information above was found on the original documents submitted for listing consideration and can be viewed here:

Did someone tell you that to produce HDRs, you need at least 1 raw or 2 or more jpgs with multiple exposures?

Now, take a look at this picture. It is only a one jpg file from a point and shoot Canon camera. And I still was able to produce this HDR. Secrets on how I did this is included in my book. Get it now.

Paying me by PayPal to order HDR Unleashed Book got easier than ever.

I just setup a site to accept orders for the book. It also includes my address in case you want to pay by check.

The book includes my workflow, both conventional and unorthodox ways, in producing my HDRs. In short, you can come up with images like mine, sometimes called the KK Touch. I have added my HDR images at the end of the book.

HDR IMAGE.( best seen large size)

Very few times do I get absorbed in creating something out of this world. I stitched two images in PS cc and then applied Nik Collection HDR Efex Pro 2 to the image. The images were shot using the Nikon D300s and 105mm f2.8

Rock City officially opened as a public attraction on May 21, 1932. It got off to a slow start because advertising in those days was difficult, especially since Garnet & Frieda Carter’s mountain-top attraction was not located in a place that people would just happen to be passing by and take notice. It was at this point another brilliant idea of Garnet Carter’s was born. In 1936, he enlisted the help of a young sign painter named Clark Byers, who was hired to travel the nation’s highways and offer to paint a farmer’s barns in exchange for letting him paint three simple words: See Rock City. The distinctive black-and-white signs appeared as far north as Michigan, as far west as Texas, and as far south as Florida. The advertising soon began to produce the desired effect and by the 1950's, Garnet's message was painted on over 900 barns. Journalists began calling Clark and his helpers the "Barnyard Rembrandts", and vacationers by the millions have heeded the call to "SEE ROCK CITY".

Garnet's innovative spirit and Clark's hard work are still evident along many U.S. highways (not particularly the interstate system but the old highway system) and are much loved pieces of Americana. This one in particular is located about 30 miles southwest of Rock City and reads "35 Miles to Beautiful Rock City". It is also the barn that has a similar message on the opposite side of the roof that reads "Sequoyah Caverns" making it one of the more unique advertising barns I've ever photographed. Having one 'attraction' on one side of the roof and a completely different 'attraction' on the other side is about as interesting as you can find in one of these old advertising barns. (See the image below in the comments for the other side.)

This is my second HDR image, a combination of ten images, and I have to say that I'm very happy with the results. It is a long way to go, but there is time and energy to polish and get better :)) Thanks for watching!

A very busy evening, so I'm adding the photo of the day a little earlier...

My photography is mostly nature. I enjoy macro photography a lot, but it is difficult to decide what a I like the most about this art.
