These huge bales of straw remind me of enormous cotton reels, made from golden thread. And one day they'll be gone, because the giants will have come to collect them to spin into great cloaks of gold..... well, OK, I'm dreaming again ! But it would be lovely if that were the case. Instead, they're used for feeding cattle and making them bedding for the winter.
Taken in a field not too far from home, and processed using PicMonkey and Topaz Impression 2, finished in Topaz Glow. The birds are from a photo I took many years ago and used as a texture.
I do hope you like my fantasy. Thank you, as always, for all your support and faves, comments and / or invites - I do appreciate them all.
Have a wonderful weekend and may the weather be kind to you, as it was for me on this day.
An unusual find - a pheasant usually seen pecking along the ground has found a jackpot for food on a haybale (this one made of corn stalks). Their winter diet is mostly seed and roots so this is like a giant refrigerator full.
I did get a shot at him pecking into the roll but you dont get enough of the pheasant profile so I used this scene.
The bright red color of a country barn is accentuated by late afternoon sunrays that make this scene glow with color and light.
Explored #432. Thanks everyone :-)

One of my favorite barns in the area...and this time with sun-dappled hay bales! Bring on winter; they’re ready!
Another backroad vision, with thanks to Robert Frost for the title....
“Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day,
Nothing gold can stay.”
This very long field of round bales was taken at Tisted Airfield,West Tisted.
There is,i believe, a private grass runway running along the tree line on the left, starting from the far end of those trees and up and behind me.
Many thanks for your visit and any comments will be most welcome.
Had a great time doing this collab with Tiff, it only took us a month to say "hey let's do a picture" and then... do the picture. LMFAO

Hay bales outside of Bright in the Victorian high country...these a couple of glimpses of fences :) Have a great weekend everyone and HFF
Not sure if I prefer this shot or the other one. This shot was taken a few minutes earlier so benefits from slightly better light. Seeing them side-by-side, this one seems to give a better sense of perspective and there's more of the lovely colours in the sky. A case of when getting closer doesn't produce a better shot?
Let me know what you think!
