Behind Hat Head, you can drive 10km along the beach north of Crescent Head to get to this nice surfing spot
We got up early hoping to surf before the wind picked up, but we were out of luck, so we drove down to the protected headland
Just missing some whisky and a basket of fish and chips..
Hat Head in the far left, Kempsey on the far right. Mount Banda is the mountain faintly visible in the right background. Composite of two 50mm images merged in photoshop.
Part of Hat Head National Park, Korogoro Point is an outcrop of massive conglomerate, (known as the Kullatine Formation from the Permian period).
I love finding fun things like this "Yowie" faithfully guarding the entrance to the Hat Head homestead on the mid north coast of New South Wales. If he doesn't scare you, the signs at the gate to stop unwelcome entry certainly will. Still having wifi trouble, will get to the main photos when we get home.
In case you don't know about the Aussie Yowie (who may even chase rival soccer (football) teams, read all about this mythical beast here. Seems he has moved from the Outback to the beach!
Finally got the book from the publisher. Check it out at Random House or Amazon! It`s called "Hatheads"
They asked me "does your dog like sausage?" and I was like, "shyeah! what dog doesn't like sausage?" So they gave me 2 extra pieces for Floyd.
Spent the weekend on Mid North NSW Coast, surfing and 4WDing around the beachs. This was taken at our first stop, Lighthouse Beach, Seal Rocks.
Looking north from the very base of the Light House, over north Smoky Beach and Green Island. The northern headland for Gap Beach can be seen in the background.
A walking track circumnavigates Hat Head (Korogoro) in Hat Head National Park. This is the view to the south, with Gap Beach followed by Connor's Beach behind.

Taken on my recent road trip to NSW. Hat Head was my favourite place that we visited. its the prettiest little coastal town, still unspoiled by tourism. The beach was gorgeous and I just loved this little creek that spilled out onto the beach. The water in the creek is bleached from Ti trees.
When Tea Tree plants grow beside a lake or creek, their supernatural oil drips down into the water, creating something similar to a 'medical bath'. They colour the water so it looks like a cup of tea with an oily film on top. Some might think it doesn't look very appetising but the water is totally fresh and the tea tree oil works wonders on your skin. After a good long soaking you'll come out of the lake feeling fresh and revitalised! Written by Rhian Hughes
