A doe and her twin fawns crossed the road from the safety of the deep forest into a nearby farmer's Alfalfa field to graze in the evening's early light.
I posted a photo of this large doe during the month of June with the title "Springtime Temptation."
What beautiful creatures!

A massive consist with two GP35-3's, three GP38-2's, and five SD40-2's passes Wingfoot Lake near Hartville, Ohio, on Dec. 21, 2019. This train typically serves as a power shuttle to bring stone train power from Akron down to Brewster. The three black geeps in the middle that spoiled the all-tiger consist, plus a fourth not on this train, were sold to the Nebraska Central in June 2022.

Yesterday, March 30, 2015, was a Big and Beautiful Sky Day! The large farmhouse and barn located on State Route 43, near Hartville, Ohio seem miniature in comparison.
A large and beautiful doe gave into the overwhelming tug of Springtime Temptation, emerging from the dark woods in the very early evening, to graze on the delicious and tender Alfalfa crop in a farmer’s field nearby.
Alfalfa is a perennial flowering plant in the pea family, widely grown and cultivated throughout the world as an important forage plant for cattle. Most often harvested as hay -- but can also be made into silage, grazed, or fed as greenchop -- it has the highest feeding and nutritional value of all common hay crops and has been cultivated as livestock fodder since at least the era of the ancient Greeks and Romans.

The W&LE 261 made a somewhat rare morning run between Brewster and Akron today. I made my first ever trip to Hartville to shoot them passing the old grain elevator and small railroad display in town. For power they had W&LE 6387, 112, 302, 106, and 111 pulling 51 cars.

A sighting from September -- looking over the white fence to see a wagon loaded with pumpkins and Chrysanthemums -- both sure signs of the coming of autumn! Happy Fence Friday! :-)

St Paddy's day luck... I knew the 261 was somewhere on the Cleveland Sub between Canton and Akron, but I had no idea exactly where. I went through Hartville and crossed the tracks to find I had beat them to town by two minutes, just enough time to clear out some errant dead brush and got this shot of them passing the old elevator in town. 6352 northbound in Hartville on 3/17/17.
Going back to pick up a few photos from the last month to post before the year comes to an end. This one is from Fichtner Park in Hartville, Ohio.
