"Home sweet home...~" The whites of his teeth flash as another glass is filled and sent his way. Ignatious nods at the barkeep whose name he forgot. His lips disassociate as he brought the glass in to his mouth for one last chug.
The vaults bellow Gringotts always fascinated me when I read the Harry Potter books. I loved the idea of crazy railways and caverns hidden just underneath the bank.
I built this in three days last year for the Brothers Brick Micro Scale Harry Potter contest. Due to unfortunate circumstances I didn't have enough time to photograph it and post it before the deadline. Being quite discouraged, I neglected to photograph it (which I regret). I did display it at a few conventions. On the trip home from BrickWorld Chicago it was nearly shattered to oblivion in my luggage. Finding the motivation to rebuild it has been few and far between but because I was quite happy with the general results of the build I've finally taken the time to put it back together and take some photos.
Build Notes: There are three core pillars of rock that support the platform on top, these pillars are made of a bunch snotted "slices" of rock that stack onto technic axles. In this way all the slices of rock can be rotated to achieve different textures or patters.
I had considered turning the rails into a GBC but it would have taken a lot of trial and error and some pretty significant redesign. I do want to try to combine GBC and highly detailed moc building in the future though.
Stay tuned I have some other new builds coming soon! :)
Today when the book came we went to see the movie too! it is such a relief that now in our town, ticket seats for the cinema are numbered.Meaning you don't have to queue (and be there earlier) and you get to pick where you sit instead of the good seats being left for those teenagers that like to "grope" in the dark corners! .. this means we'll go to the movies more often and just book online and choose where to sit. They should have thought about this ages ago!!
For the TBB Microscale Magic contest, I had a clear entry in mind: a mini-version of my Tale of the Three Brothers build.
