Harpa est une salle de concert et un centre des congrès situé à Reykjavik, capitale de l'Islande. Le concert inaugural a eu lieu le 4 mai 2011.
C'est le cabinet d'architecture danois Henning Larsen qui a dessiné le bâtiment, en coopération avec l'artiste danois Olafur Eliasson et Einar Þorsteinn Ásgeirsson. Le bâtiment est constitué d'un cadre en acier revêtu de panneaux de verre de formes irrégulières et de différentes couleurs. En 2013, le bâtiment remporte le Prix Mies van der Rohe décerné par l'Union européenne et la Fondation Mies van der Rohe.
Originellement, Harpa devait faire partie d'un ensemble de nouveaux immeubles (hôtel, appartements, centre commercial, restaurants, parking, ainsi que le nouveau siège de Landsbanki), situé sur Austurhöfn (le port de l'ouest, ou vieux-port). Mais en raison de la crise financière qui a touché l'Islande à partir de 2008, la construction d'Harpa, le premier des bâtiments de l'ensemble, s'est arrêtée. Le gouvernement islandais a alors décidé de ne terminer que celui-ci. Son nom a été choisi le 11 décembre 2009, jour de la fête de la musique islandaise. Jusque-là, le bâtiment était nommé Salle de concert et centre des congrès de Reykavík (islandais : Tónlistar- og ráðstefnuhúsið í Reykjavík).
L'orchestre symphonique d'Islande et l'opéra d'Islande y sont rattachés.
En plus de la grande salle de concert et des salles de conférence, un restaurant, un bar et une boutique se situent dans l'enceinte.
Le gérant d'Harpa est Portus, un établissement détenu par le gouvernement islandais et la ville de Reykjavik.

Harpa is a concert hall and conference center in Reykjavík, Iceland. The opening concert was held on 4 May 2011. The building features a distinctive colored glass facade inspired by the basalt landscape of Iceland.
Harpa –ist die Bezeichnung für das 2011 neueröffnete Opern- und Konzerthaus in der Hauptstadt Reykjavík. Das Gebäude beherbergt sowohl das Isländische Sinfonieorchester als auch die isländische Oper und gilt mit der vom Künstler Ólafur Elíasson gestalteten Fassade als architektonische Attraktion und neues Wahrzeichen der Hauptstadt.

I have just got back from an amazing trip to Iceland. Don't know quite where to start with all my photos so the best way is just to go from the beginning I suppose! This stunning building is the Harpa concert hall on the dockside at Reykjavik. It is an incredible structure and at light it lights up with a sequence of coloured lights right across the facade of the building. If you look closely you can see a bench - so Happy Bench Monday everyone!
Reykjavik's Harpa Opera House, which opened in 2011, is always a beautiful motif - especially at the blue hour. Harpa is on the one hand a musical instrument (harp), on the other hand it is also the first month of summer in the old Icelandic calendar. The beginning of this month is still a special day in Iceland today, as summer is so important in the north.
