Two Southern Rockhopper Penguins (Eudyptes chrysocome chrysocome) harmonize as they greet each other at their nesting site. They often display like this when one returns from fishing at sea where they then change the guard at the nest.
PHILADELPHIA - FEBRUARY 8, 2018
More than a million fans lined the streets of Philadelphia for the Eagles Parade, celebrating the team's historic first Super Bowl victory.
Dressed in assorted shades of green, throwback jerseys– repping past eras– and creative couture, the fans were as super as the team they came to honor.
A mix of races, religions, ethnicities, sizes, shapes, ages and income levels, stood side-by-side, cheering, hugging and harmonizing on the team's fight song: "Fly Eagles Fly on the road to victory...."

A unique project—Jacob Collier’s first-ever college residency—brought together the MIT Festival Jazz Ensemble, MIT’s Ben Bloomberg and other members of the MIT music community.
Collier’s music combines elements of jazz, a cappella, world, contemporary classical, pop, gospel, R&B and soul. He is well known for his viral YouTube videos, which have turned numerous legendary artists into fans, including Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, David Crosby, Jamie Cullum, Take 6 and Quincy Jones—now his manager/mentor.
In 2014, he began working with MIT’s Ben Bloomberg (a graduate student at the MIT Media Lab) who helped transform Collier’s video productions into live one-man-show performances. Bloomberg also designed and created a custom unique Vocal Harmonizer, which has provided Collier a vehicle to simultaneously combine his vocal and keyboard talents live.
Collier’s December residency at MIT—culminating with a major concert in Kresge Auditorium on December 10—involved several first-time elements. Collier and the MIT Festival Jazz Ensemble (FJE) with additional musicians presented the premiere of an experimental piece crafted by Collier. Several new big band arrangements of Collier’s music were also featured, two of which crafted by MIT alumnus Jamshied Sharifi and one by Collier himself. The concert included Collier performing some jazz standards with the FJE as well as some solo performances.

Remembering those sour notes
When we couldn't quite harmonize
Calling those harsh, discordant sounds
Our sad attempt at music
But sometimes I think that was the best,
It was ugly but at least it was true
It was when we looked through the cracks
In our masks, in our music
And saw we would never last
Let me love or let me die
For what is life but love
Stretched across the wooden frame
Of time and space
Love is the canvas
On which we paint
Our world
Scatter salt on these darkened fields
Around that sullen moon
Full and sallow in the fallow skies,
The world does not bloom there
Only the salty stars glitter
The unwept tears of angels
by Harmonizing with Humanity

Torquil Campbell harmonizing Amy Millan during a show in 2005 at the Empty Bottle. A sweaty sold out show with a band that truly seemed to be enjoying themselves that night. They keep getting more solid with every album. Canada’s answer to the Smiths?
Chrome Diopside is a Guardian Harmonizer Crystal. When you have something you want to protect use a crystal that forms in the monoclinic system like Diopside. These Guardian crystals have an internal structure that is composed of parallelograms. The parallel structure of their crystalline lattice gives these crystals their power to protect us in the physical world and in the spiritual one. The Guardian talismans do not reveal their inner strength. These stones rarely, if ever, form transparent crystals. Rather, they hide their strength behind an opaque mask, obscuring the power they possess.
In the physical world they are excellent aids in protecting your loved ones, your possessions, and your physical security. They are very useful in protecting houses and homes, property, and valuables.
In the spiritual world, the Guardian crystals have several special uses. They first serve to guard your beliefs against doubt. Everyone at some point begins to doubt some of his or her most cherished beliefs.

Over 45 years ago America harmonized their way to the top of the charts on the strength of their signature song “A Horse With No Name.” This Grammy winning light folk-rock band from London became a musical sensation with an impressive string of hits including “Ventura Highway,” “Tin Man,” “Lonely People,” “Sister Golden Hair,” and “You Can Do Magic.” Christopher Cross’ smoothly sophisticated ballads helped define adult contemporary radio in the 1980s. His well-recognized hits include “Ride Like the Wind,” “Never Be the Same,” “Say You’ll Be Mine,” “Think of Laura,” and “Arthur’s Theme,” along with his Grammy winning Song of the Year, “Sailing.”

Two primary school buildings by Herman. Hertzberger, 1980-1983, Amsterdam
Grouped around a communal courtyard are three schools, the so-called Apollo schools, which harmonize with their surroundings because of their villa-like appearance. The Montessori School and Willemspark School were designed by Herman Hertzberger, the third school was designed by Liesbeth van der Pol. The two schools by Hertzberger are based on an identical basic scheme: a square, in the four corners of which are classrooms grouped around a central hall. By introducing variation in the detailing and through the positioning of the windows, the architect has given each school its own identity. The schools have been positioned so that the schoolyard is divided into a semi-public section and a more sheltered section; this latter area has been specially designed for small children. The infants have an entrance on the ground floor, beneath the exterior stairway. The entrances for the older children are situated above, on either side of a spacious hall which also functions as an auditorium. This space is used not only for performances, but also as a place where children can work individually or in groups. The plan functions in such a way that users and visitors are led via subtle transitions from the public street to the compact enclosed space in the school.

The most important and prestigious religious building in Peru, the Monasterio de Santa Catalina is a convent which housed almost two hundred secluded nuns and three hundred servants from the late sixteenth century until it opened some of its outer doors to the public in 1970. Its enormous complex of rooms, cloisters and tiny plazas takes a good hour or two to explore. Some thirty nuns still live here today.
Originally the concept of Gaspar Vae in 1570, though only granted official licence five years later, the convent was funded by the Viceroy Toledo and the wealthy Maria de Guzmán, who later entered the convent with one of her sisters and donated all her riches to the community. The most striking feature is its predominantly Mudéjar style, adapted by the Spanish from the Moors, but which rarely found its way into their colonial buildings. The quality of the design is emphasized and harmonized by a superb interplay between the strong sunlight, white stone and brilliant colours in the ceilings and the deep-blue sky above the maze of narrow interior streets.
