Twiggy

Many inchworms, when disturbed, stand erect and motionless on their posterior prolegs - an attempt to resemble a small twig, in order to fool predators. I had wanted to photograph this tiny (1.5cm) inchworm as it was nibbling on the crocosmia leaf, but it stood up and didn't move for several minutes, enabling a focus stack!

No inchworms were harmed in the making of this photograph.
