I love her Elvis lip in this shot....

" The King " on his throne in How Tun Woods in August 2012.They were the greatest of friends.

During the summer, my neighbor Gail and her dog Leo get together several times a week with their friend Liz, and her two Harlequin Great Danes Brooklyn and Lexi to go walking.

Pearl and I have gone along once or twice, but lets just say that Pearl is NOT interested in being a team player.

Lexi, the dog on the right here, was only a little over a year old and VERY frisky!

Liz is amazing though, and has done a great job with their training!

I'm hoping to get to spend some quality time with them and the camera this year. They are incredible dogs!

...who leads?

this woman had walked her Great Dane up to watch the parade and he got a little nervous with all the excitement and needed some reassurance from his Mom!

Bliss spent the day with us recently while her family was moving. We had hoped she would help fill a canine void for Max who has been grieving since the loss of our female, Kassie. He wasn't exactly the gentleman and seemed particularly annoyed when Bliss helped herself to his favorite stuffed animals and his spot on the couch! My husband and I got along with her fine. She was a very affectionate and well behaved visitor--two more things that probably annoyed Max!

My first photo to be published in a book! It's for a travel guide to the US for dog owners called "Ruff Guide." Not only does it list the typical info about hotels and restaurants, but also includes many dog friendly activities for each city. For example, I would have never guessed that there are several galleries here in Santa Fe that let you bring your dog.

Bliss has become a regular visitor at our house and Max has decided to accept her rummaging through the toy baskets, sharing his favorite spots and cushions as well as the couch--as long as he gets first choice. Bliss is very entertaining. She loves to toss the stuffed animals in the air and chase after them with moves much like a young foal. Afterwards, it's total collapse with the toy not far away!

When I saw Leroy walking down the sidewalk I had but one thought: "Harlequin Great Dane". (His height doesn't show well in this shot)

I was right. Leroy's papa was a Harlequin Great Dane while his mama was a Bernese Mountain Dog / Saint Barnard mix.

The 2.5 year old pup looks pensive but he was actually very affectionate and utterly beloved by his person.

I was sitting on the beach at Bear Lake by myself when three dogs came running up to me. I loved taking photos of them.

This was a first for me and I couldn't be happier on the way they turned out.

Amanda is normally a fashion model so when she asked me to do a shoot with her and her "4 legged child", I was all for it. After all, Duke acted just like a toddler coming into his "terrible twos".

They were such a blast to work with and I still can't get over the fact that Duke is only a year and a half old lol

A doggy I encountered yesterday on my walk. I thought he was so cute that I stopped the lady to ask if I could take a pic of him. It's too bad I didn't get to talk to her to find out his name or what kind of breed he was. I had messed up the first few shots & felt bad making her wait for a few more.

Thank you Tanner Cougar for letting me know this is a Harlequin Great Dane...they are beautiful dogs! :)

Taken in January 2012 in How Tun Woods.Sampson could never get the better of Benjy. They were a wonderful comedy act.Samoson would circle around Benjy, but when he got round the other side of him,Benjy had turned to face him !

This was the first time I asked people I did not know if I could take their photo. Actually it was could i take their dogs' photo. To my delight, they consented gladly.

I must have been so excited that the dogs ended up sans paws. :( I may see them again at the friday markets and take a better photograph to post here.

The owners are mother and daughter and the great danes, mother and son!

Literary Reference in Pictures

I think I could turn and live with animals

they are so placid and self-contain'd,

I stand and look at them long and long,

They do not sweat and whine about their condition,

They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins,

They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God,

Not one is dissatisfied, not one is demented with the

mania of owning things,

Not one kneels to another, nor to his kind that liveth thousands

of years ago,

Not one is respectable or unhappy over the whole earth.

--- Walt Whitman
