12 women (Tamil + Sinhala+ Muslim) were felicitated by the Youngmen’s Welfare Association of
Colombo to celebrate the International Women's Day 2012.
The felicitation ceremony was orgainsed by the Youngmen’s Welfare Association of Colombo. 12 women were felicitated on 11th March 2012 at Vivekananda Society Hall in Colombo.
One of the most creative and hardworking pair in Bharatanatyam that I have come across in recent times is Shijith and Parvathy. Both of them have had their grinding at Kalakshetra, Chennai. Their work portryas spiritual power of Bharatanatyam. Their passion and dedication, along with adherence to the traditions, make them very special.
At Ananya their pieces 'krishna nee begame' was very interestingly choreographed and the 'ardhanareeswara' was beautiful, portraying essence and sensual elegance of the dancing couple. The group choreographies are equally good, need more coordination. The photos here amply demostrate what they can produce.

We have this thing about eating tomatoes (from my garden), avocado, peppers, carrots and nuts. With lots of ground pepper. The best summer snack food.
It has been a LONG week at work. We're glad to be relaxn'. So much so that we dumped the idea of heading out to the Simpsons Movie. All in good time....

This man is a farmer that I saw and spoke too a little at Slate Metro Park. He is an elderly, hardworking man that takes pride in his work. This description is one that not many people can attribute themselves with. The world has lost its abundance of men and women like this man. People that truely care about the job theyre doing, and dont do it just for the money. People that use the skills theyve learned in a lifetime of experience, and not just what they learned in 4 years of college. People that take true pride in what they accomplish with their life, and dont wish for a do-over. The world needs more people like this man.

On 4/1/17 over 87 dedicated volunteers arrived at Bread and Cheese Creek and filled a 40 yard dumpster with trash and debris they removed from this historic stream and its bank totally over 4 tons!!! This included 322 bags of trash, truck full of metal to be recycled, 7 shopping carts, 2 couches, 3 mattresses, 2 chairs, 5 tires, an end stand, a cooler a box spring and much more!!! Thank you everyone so very much for all your incredible hard work under such tough conditions! Our volunteer dedication to working toward a cleaner, greener, healthier community and environment cannot be topped! Thank you so much!!!
We would also like to thank the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and American Rivers for all their assistance and support on this cleanup and to thank Burger King, Pat's Pizzeria Dundalk MD, Pizza Hut, Entenmann's Bakery and Chesapeake Traders Food Warehouse for their generous donations of food to feed all our hungry and hardworking volunteers!!!
