"There comes a days when you realize turning the page is the best feeling in the world, because you realize there is so much more to the book than the page where you stuck on."

Our lakeshore pelicans continue to put on a show for anyone who cares to watch :) This one was coming up from the water and shaking itself off.
After the initial 'wow' of these big birds has worn off, most casual watchers move on into their busy lives.
But as a bird photographer, I often sit for a couple hours, looking through my long lens and waiting for something unusual and interesting-- like what you see above.
Sometimes it's a long wait. Most often they just sit and preen and tidy up. Or they hunker down and take a long nap. The action starts when they squabble over prime real estate, or when the big ones exert their dominance and bully the younger ones, jabbing and biting with their massive beaks. And that is when my shutter starts clicking away...
Thanks for stopping by and enjoying these birds with me :)
Some will remember the first image from July 1st. Looks like Dad's "Happy Dance" worked. This morning, two red necked grebe chicks on mother's back.
one hair treatment and a clean set of clothes later still a little discombobulated after her long trip she shyly told me that her name was Mihro and she was pleased to meet me <3
This mallard hen was being entertained by two mallard drakes that were dabbling in the remaining duckweed in the canal. Wildwood Park, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

“Autumn burned brightly, a running flame through the mountains, a torch flung to the trees.”
Faith Baldwin
So I took this a week ago and it took me that long to edit it! Haha! But I loved it and am so happy with it. Well the leaves are a bit messy but that's just me being OCD...
I really wanted to do a leaf photo for this year's fall, but I wanted it to be unique.
Then I realized my hair was red and it all clicked. OMG DUHHH. So this was born! *happydance*
All the leaves and hair is real ^_^ All pasted or painted in.
Mihro is home and SqUee she is soo sweet, i had thought of re homing her straight away to fund other dolly quests but that is definately out of the question .... she is love.
Created for Sliders Sunday. This is a shot of my granddaughter I took over the weekend. She had just climbed up to the top of a steep sand dune, and was so proud of herself that she started doing this little happy dance! The sun had set behind the dune so a great opportunity to get some silhouette shots. HSS!
A covert operation (also known as CoveOps or covert ops) is a military intelligence or law enforcement operation that is carried clandestinely and, often, outside of official channels. Covert operations aim to fulfill their mission objectives without any parties knowing who sponsored or carried out the operation.

I have to warn everyone, I am in a beach mood this week!! The best place in the world to be, is right here on a beach, digging toes in the sand and watching the sunrise. That there was a fence off to the side was an amazing coincidence!! And a heart carved on the fence post? Serendipity!!
Thanks SO MUCH to everyone's wonderful comments and dedication posts for my 50th birthday yesterday. The slide into my next decade wasn't as traumatic as I thought it would be!!
Happy "Sunrise" Fence Friday!!

Sandhill Cranes are fun to watch especially when they do their happy dance. The sight and sound of Sandhill Cranes is a reminder of the primitive world, and they are one of the oldest living bird species on the planet. They have a wing span of 5 to 6 feet.

♫ Rumi - Love ♫
Love came, and became like blood in my body.
It rushed through my veins and
encircled my heart.
Everywhere I looked,
I saw one thing.
Love's name written
on my limbs,
on my left palm,
on my forehead,
on the back of my neck,
on my right big toe...
Oh, my friend,
all that you see of me
is just a shell,
and the rest belongs to love.

Well were finally here Day 365! I really can't believe it... I started this project thinking well it be fun to see how far I can go before I just couldn't do it anymore but I actually finished it and it's all thanks to Troy. It's been an amazing journey learning more about photography like actually knowing how to use my camera and most importantly getting a chance to capture my son in his everyday life whether it was him eating, sleeping, crying, laughing, getting mad at me lol. But as his mother all so precious and beautiful to me.
This is probably the best thing I've ever done with my photography and I'm so grateful that I had the opportunity to do this. Being a stay at home mother is so rewarding, I love that I was there for all his milestones in his life so far. It's truly a blessing and I've learned to not take it for granted. Troy has been my biggest teacher through it all, he has been teaching me everyday all about love, life and all the little things that I used to take for granted.
I'm so grateful for all the support through the flickr community your sweet comments week by week meant the world to us! So I want to take a moment to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You all have inspired me in one way or the other and have made this project much more worth while. Thank you friends sooo very much! :}
I want to also thank my husband for all his love and support for my project and helping me finish with sometimes taking his photo for me the day‘s I couldn‘t. I love that I count on him and I love that he supports me the way he does in everything I want to do with my photography. I love him and I'm so happy to call him my son's father and my husband. :}
Yay! Were finally done time to celebrate …. Happy Dance Time :}
I'm entering this into Cliche Saturday

A Christmas fire burning early over Natural Bridges State Park in Santa Cruz, California.
Kind of a Christmas gift from me, to you. It comes with a story, a long story. So if you're waiting for your Christmas dinner to become tender, this might be the story for you. Humorous, yes. Christmassy, not exactly. Warm and heartwarming, it might, for some at least.
All happened earlier in the year, in October to be exact, right on the day when Mr. Good Light Patterson himself was stuck on a plane towards South Africa. Not the worst place you might say and on any normal day, I would wholeheartedly agree but not on October 1st, 2010. Mark your calendars, folks. This was the day Jim was defeated and in all honesty, we think he cried shamelessly.
Patterson is a light making machine, a terminator of luminance, a photon emitting creature. A wonder to some, and giant pain to others. Give him one day, only one day and he sucks the whole light from a place and ruins it for the rest of us. Patterson is the guy who killed Tahoe forever, for everyone.
I only drove by Tahoe twice and saw nothing but a choppy surf and clear blue skies. Others may have attempted to break the curse by visiting this place over 50 times with no luck. Patterson killed Tahoe. RIP wonderful blue lake, surrounded by glorious forests. Always remembered, never forgotten.
Anyhow, that day, October 1st, a small group of young and eager warriors photographers, made a first critical step towards a new world order, after Patterson changed the world forever. These fearless adventurers, let's call them Jave, Josh and David (to make things a little easier) secretly established a pact against the dark and evil side of photography, making a plan to assault Patterson's attempts to rule the California coast by rushing right into his living room in Santa Cruz with a blitzkrieg like move.
After some 256-bit encrypted phone calls were made, two tanks rolled down from San Jose to the coast to support the one man troop Josh at the operation "Enduring Light". With the precision of a swiss army knife, the group met at the beach to start the war for light. All soldiers brought their best gear and a plethora of gadgets to fight the evil army of photography mercenary soldiers, hired by Patterson.
To show how cruel and back-stabbing Patterson is, I am going to tell you whom he sent. Three (!!!) little girls in their flashy bathing suits, supported by a wise old man in shiny neon shorts. (After all, we should be lucky he wore shorts...)
"Guys, this won't be easy. Patterson sent the best he could find."
With the power of cranked up Singh Ray shields and rings of polarized high-tech light rockets fresh from Silicon Valley, the young, death-defying soldiers strategically moved along the beach to the rock bridge of the Santa Cruz Battleground State Park. In a split second of inobservance, the fearless leader of the group, Josh, was wounded after losing power of his filter holding equipment, and the endeavor for free photography and light for all was put on hold. Fortunately, he recovered quickly and the three light soldiers were able to beat Patterson's army for now.
During the fallback, in a last attempt to grasp the safe straw; Patterson and his evil villains sent a final curse over the brave group, having them attacked by millions of rain drops photophagous (light-eating) aliens dropping from the sky. Even though Jave, Josh and David lost most of their protection, the fearless soldiers were able to fight back the wet sucking creatures and returned from another successful mission to protect humanity and make this world a safer --- and most of all, brighter --- place.
The victory then was joyously celebrated at a local Burgers joint.
(Disclaimer: No kids or other persons, nor marine creatures were hurt during any stage of the operation. The events, persons and locations are real, the story might be a little stretched for the sole purpose of reading pleasure and Jim is a pretty cool guy, actually.)
Thanks for reading and Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, God Jul, Frohe Weihnachten and Bon Noel!

On Saturday we were at my daughter Monica's graduation ceremony at Indiana Wesleyan University. She graduated with a nursing degree and has excepted a position with Spectrum here in Grand Rapids.
She was a little excited afer getting her diploma.
Good morning, Annapolis. Thank you for sending in the clouds this morning, Mother Nature. It made the 20 degree weather bearable
I was not expecting much from this mornings session, but thankfully, the clouds started rolling in, and not the pea soup thick marine layer, either.
This was taken at Jonas Green Park, across the bridge from the Naval Academy, at the Naptown Photo Club meetup.
The colors are pretty much SOOC, I just brought out some shadow details in LR.
