The theme for Smile on Saturday this week is "TIMEPIECES".
There is always a lot to be said for time. I find that it is often easier said than done to spend time wisely. However, someone recently reminded me that "Time" is our greatest commodity. That statement is so true. One cannot make more or buy more time.

As an antidote to a series of damp and dreary mid-winter days, I am posting an image from a happier time. The little chipmunks are in hibernation and probably won't reappear until some time in April. In the meantime, I am glad to have this reminder of the fun I had photographing these delightful little critters last spring and summer.
Nach Fertigstellung der Elektrifizierung der Strecke über Memmingen nach Lindau gibt es dort inzwischen auch einige private Güterzüge zu beobachten. Neben gelegentlich verkehrenden Kesselwagen- und Getreidezügen handelt es sich dabei primär um Containerzüge von und nach Wolfurt in Vorarlberg. Neben RheinCargo und der SETG bietet auch Lokomotion eine Verbindung in Eigenregie an. Allerdings läßt die Auslastung der Züge aktuell oft zu wünschen übrig. Teilweise nur mit einem Container beladen, kommt beim Fotografen und insbesondere bei den Kaufleuten des jeweiligen EVUs wenig Freude auf. Die Zeit wird zeigen, ob sich die neuen Angebote erablieren - zu wünschen ist es auf jeden Fall. Am 31. März 2021 hatte ich allerdings Glück, der DGS 41911 von München-Riem nach Wolfurt war halbwegs akzeptabel beladen. Bei Kottgeisering konnte ich den Wolfurt-Shuttle mit seiner Zuglok 151 074 in der vorfrühlingshaften Landschaft fotografieren.
After completion of the electrification of the line via Memmingen to Lindau, there are now also some private freight trains to be observed there. Apart from occasional tank wagon and grain trains, these are primarily container trains to and from Wolfurt in Vorarlberg. Watching the ducks at this site has become one of my favourite things. They made me laugh out loud with their antics! I had my partner's two retrievers with me on a walk so I had to shoot with occasional pulls on their leads when they got restless, so not all shots today were as sharp as this one.
