This snowglobe was inspired by Ashley M. Absolutely loved her idea & thought it would be fun to try it out with clear acetate. I wanted to thank Ashley for her detailed instructions on her blog...it took me a while to make it this afternoon, but I love the end result! sequoia drank his first thanksgiving dinner right in the middle of everybody else's meal, at the table -- and then he promptly passed out in rachel's arms, curled up like a little vampire, which rachel the horror film fan (known as "Dracool" in her youth) loved.

he can't read yet, but he can look at the pictures in any book (like this library book about sharks) and make up some fun stories. he's also memorized some of his shorter kids books, and he can recite the words while turning the pages at the right moment. i can remember doing that with The Night Before Christmas.

sequoia (on the left) is unusually fussy and cranky, rachel made an urgent doctor's appointment for him this afternoon to inspect for ear infection or other cause of distress. he's strapped into a brand new car seat that rachel selected for him based on consumer reports latest review of convertible infant seats.
nick (on the right) is strapped in and ready to meet up with shea at mcdonalds, where they will play in the mcplayground and probably be treated to happy meals. he looks pretty happy already.

This morning was another milestone. I finally met our new niece. She was born four weeks early - just two days after I came home from the hospital. I was definitely not ready to meet her right away. It was still tough today, but I think I did all right.

Well, this is a beautiful dress made to look a little silly with the use of a hanger that it way too large for it. :(
But at least the great pattern is on display. The fabric is a lightweight 100% cotton cord and made of course with the famous Hanna flat-lock seams for maximum comfort and to prevent irritation.
Looks great with purple, orange, green, or pink tights or bike pants. Keep even warmer with a turtle neck shirt underneath. These are just such great clothes for layering making them last through all the seasons.
I think this is a size 100.

Finally made it to the last week of this project I started. After doing a 52 weeks project for a few years now, I think this is going to be it for awhile. I'm not sure which project I want to do in 2012. I definitely don't feel I can commit to another 365, but I'm not sure I want to do 52 more weeks of self portraits. So I might have to do something different this year. At least I finished. I'm a few days off with my 365, but this 52 weeks project is finished.

I liked these Hanna Andersson swim trunks, so I decided to try to copy them. I added a 4th stripe to the pattern at the top of the shorts. I left off the side pockets, but I think for the next pair I will try to add inseam pockets. These were made with cotton stretch twill, but I am planning to make the next pair with nylon swim trunk fabric.
